I found out about a wine bar specializing in rosé wine in Tsukishima and decided to visit after work. I'm not particularly a fan of rosé wine, in fact, I haven't really chosen it much before. The thing is, unlike white and red wines where you can somewhat imagine the taste based on the grape variety, origin, and vintage, rosé wines are different. They come in a variety of flavors from sweet to dry to crisp. It's like a gamble because you can't really tell until you taste it. It can be a shock when you open a bottle thinking it'll be your drink for the night, only to find out it's too sweet. Then you have to open another one, which can be a bit disappointing. So now, I only buy rosé wines that I know the taste of. But thinking about it, with orange wines gaining attention, rosé wines made in a similar skin-contact style could also be more popular. I ordered a platter of 3 appetizers - pickles, salmon rillette, and pork jerky. The standout was the beet sandwich served as a complimentary dish. It's a salad of beets with mayo and capers sandwiched between toasted bread. The subtle use of mayo allows the natural sweetness and aroma of the beets to shine through. It's not just visually appealing, but also pairs perfectly with rosé wine. The young female owner used to work at a casual bistro in Azabu Juban before opening this place. It's bold to focus solely on rosé wines, but her enthusiasm is commendable. I look forward to seeing her business thrive.

Tsukishima is famous for its monjayaki, but it is also a neighborhood with many small and stylish bars. If you go down the alley next to the cigarette vending machine, diagonally across from the supermarket (Daiei) on Monja Street, you will be drawn in by the bright pink orchids illuminated by lights and find yourself entering a charming little bar. The name of the bar is rosecoton, and it is probably the only bar in the country specializing in rosé wine (opened in October 2022). The recommended rosé (sparkling) by the owner has a crisp refreshing taste with the gentleness of rosé, a truly great choice. As someone who usually only drinks white sparkling wine, I was pleasantly surprised by how good the rosé was. The owner, a cute and always cheerful woman, is a certified sommelier who pursued her dream of opening her own bar after quitting her previous job (truly admirable). The name of the bar comes from the fact that the owner was born in March on the Peach Festival, with Melocotón (Spanish for peach) as the inspiration. Interestingly, the flower language of peaches is "enslaved by you." There is a wide variety of rosé wines available, and if you communicate your preferences to the owner, you can enjoy a taste that matches them. The food menu also includes items like salmon rillettes and beet hot sandwiches that pair well with rosé wine. In particular, the freshly fried French fries, with a generous portion and delicious sauce, are an addictive delicacy. The first floor of the bar has a counter, and despite its small appearance, there is also a second floor that can accommodate up to 20 guests, making it suitable for groups as well. Why not become captivated by rosecoton and experience it for yourself?

I don't usually drink rosé wine, but I was surprised by how rich the flavor was and how satisfying it was to drink. I couldn't believe how delicious it was. The food was also delicious no matter what we ate!

A recently opened rosé wine specialty store on a small path in Tsukishima! The owner, who loves rosé wine, started the shop. There are no photos, but the beets were incredibly delicious! They are open until around 4 in the morning, so I recommend it to those near Tsukishima.
