Towada Barayaki & Bara Kara Teishoku with Clam Soup (added separately). I saw a follower post "visited" and happened to be in Hibiya, so I decided to pay a visit as I believed it was fate. The restaurant is located on the 3rd floor of a building about a 5-minute walk from Shinbashi. I thought it was on the 1st floor because it also serves as an antenna shop, so I almost passed by. It was past 1 o'clock when I entered, and the restaurant was almost full and quite busy. Later, I saw some reviews mentioning that the operation was not great. I imagine it must be tough on weekdays in Shinbashi. However, if you can overlook the bustling atmosphere, I think this place is really good (I'm partial to Aomori). Looking at the menu, it seems that Towada Barayaki is the main dish. I've never paid much attention to B-class gourmet food before, but it's a good opportunity to try it. My partner, who loves fried chicken, was quietly trying to order the menu with fried chicken added to the Barayaki, so I decided to order the same menu. As mentioned before, the restaurant was bustling. Waiting is inevitable, and I'm not stingy. While looking around the menu and the restaurant, the dishes arrived. The Barayaki comes in regular or large size, and even the regular size is quite generous. The set meal allows you to choose 2 side dishes, and I chose the Aomori specialties "Nebuta-zuke" and the famous "Herring rice koji-zuke," while my partner chose "Nebuta-zuke" and the "Icefish namasu" recommended by the waitress. The rice is Aomori's recommended "Seiten no Hekireki," with free refills. Hmm, the side dishes are already a good accompaniment to the rice, and the Barayaki, which goes so well with rice, is sweet and savory with plenty of meat. Of course, the fried chicken is excellent. It's more like Karaage than fried chicken. The coating is thin, and the chicken is well-seasoned. It may not be Shamorok, but it's quite delicious. I ended up getting a refill of the Seiten no Hekireki rice, Nebuta-zuke, Barayaki, and fried chicken. I decided to add clam soup. In Aomori, when it comes to clams, it's usually from Lake Tawada, but these clams are from Lake Ogawara in the southern region. The clams themselves are not that big, but I liked the seasoning. There's clear soup and miso soup with clams. This is how I think clams are best enjoyed. By the way, "Icefish namasu" is made by burying the head of a salmon in the snow and freezing it, then turning it into namasu. It was a very rare delicacy. At first, I thought it was sea cucumber because of its crunchy texture. But the elasticity was different, and when I looked it up, it turned out to be salmon head. With so many dishes on the table, I took my time and enjoyed the meal for about an hour. I was very satisfied, and then I noticed a notice on the table saying, "If you register on LINE, you'll get an apple juice." Both my partner and I hurriedly registered and got the juice on our way out. Wow, the lunch menu is amazing, but there are also many deep Aomori gourmet dishes for dinner. Especially, I feel that as a Tsugaru person, I must try the "Kuriko roll." The restaurant has a pastoral atmosphere considering it's in the city, but I hope the people of Shinbashi will warmly welcome it. I will definitely come back again. Thank you for the meal.
