OLDHIROBO
Today's lunch is here. It's called "Sakanayakio", which is written as "魚焼男". The unique naming and cute but creepy sign caught my attention. I was satisfied when I visited the main store the other day, so this time I came to this "弐" branch. I checked the lunch menu on the A-board outside and decided on the sashimi five-piece set meal, then descended the stairs leading to the underground restaurant. A white and indigo noren with the words "Those in Shinbashi are the ones moving Japan" welcomed me. I arrived at 12:30 on a Tuesday. As I entered the entrance on the basement floor, a female staff member greeted me in the hall. The interior of the restaurant is a bit complex, with even a second floor and cozy seating options. I was guided to a table for two in the back. I ordered as planned, "Sashimi five-piece set meal, please!" The staff mentioned, "You can choose from large, medium, or regular rice portions," to which I replied, "Large, please!" Then she asked, "Would you like to add mentaiko?" and I said, "Yes, please." After that, she informed me, "Payment is required in advance." I took out a 1,000 yen bill from my wallet and made the payment. I then got up to get some side dishes and salad from the buffet-style salad bar, returned to my seat with a modest amount, and waited for about 2 minutes. The tray of sashimi five-piece set was brought to me. Today's daily five pieces were Thai snapper, bonito, Spanish mackerel, salmon, and young yellowtail. The staff explained them to me. This sashimi five-piece set comes with all-you-can-eat side dishes, salad, rice, and fish head soup for only 1,000 yen. It's a great deal. I poured soy sauce into a small dish, put wasabi on the sashimi, dipped it in soy sauce, and then ate it with rice. The freshness and quality of the sashimi are decent, not as high-end as in luxury restaurants. The fish head soup had no fishy smell and was full of umami. The miso's saltiness was subdued, which I liked. The prepayment system and the buffet-style side dishes, salad, and drinks being self-serve are a bit different from the main store. In this day and age, it's a bit concerning to see multiple people touching tongs and such. Nevertheless, the service and interior of the restaurant were clean and bright enough, making it a decent place. Thank you for the meal today.
