Chicken Cutlet Bento (398 yen) Lately, I've been feeling a bit bored working from home, so I've been trying out different satellite offices in the neighborhood to change things up. Today, I decided to have lunch near the Konan area. There weren't many appealing options around, but then I remembered that Hanamasa's bentos were quite popular. Hanamasa is a wholesale food supermarket that specializes in meat products. They sell in bulk sizes but also offer affordable prices for individual customers. Their homemade "Katsu Sandwich" is particularly famous for being delicious and a great value for money. I decided to visit the Hanamasa store near the Minato area. I was originally planning to get the Karaage Bento with lots of fried chicken, but unfortunately, it wasn't available today. So, I opted for the Jumbo Chicken Cutlet Bento instead. It was a huge chicken cutlet, probably around 400g of breast meat breaded and fried. The bento also came with white rice, macaroni salad, and pickled radish. The cutlet was quite thick, but unfortunately, it was a bit dry with minimal seasoning, so the rice didn't go down well. I tried adding extra sauce, but it didn't help much. Despite the dryness, I managed to finish the meal with the generous portion of rice provided. The macaroni salad was sweet and tasty, a nice complement to the meal. Overall, it was a challenging meal due to the dryness of the chicken cutlet, but I still appreciate the value for money. I'll probably try a different bento next time. Hanamasa is known for its variety of original products, and one of my personal recommendations is their "Korean Seaweed Furikake". It's a delicious seasoning with a perfect balance of saltiness, sesame oil, and roasted seaweed that goes great with rice. Give it a try if you get the chance!

This restaurant offers a 5% discount on alcohol on the 19th of every month. However, what really stands out is the low price of the meat. They also have a lot of items priced for business use, giving off the impression of being inexpensive. Hanamasa seems to source a fair amount of fish as well, and sometimes I buy a whole fish to cook at home.

Inside the Hanamasa store, there is a corner with a variety of side dishes such as hamburgers, fried chicken, chicken cutlets, curry, yakisoba, and bento boxes. Among them, there is a thick omelette sandwich called "thick omelette sandwich." It caught my interest because it seems like a good source of protein and more affordable than the minced cutlet sandwich. The sandwich consists of a thick omelette breaded and fried, sandwiched between slices of bread with mayonnaise. However, the mayonnaise doesn't add much flavor, serving more as a replacement for butter or margarine. I felt like it needed a bit more saltiness. The overwhelming thickness of the omelette is quite impressive, with a taste more on the savory side than sweet like regular omelettes. The portion size is huge, and I personally couldn't finish two sandwiches. Later in the evening, I tried another one and found that, among Hanamasa's sandwiches, I prefer the minced cutlet (with sauce). The thick omelette sandwich, on the other hand, is packed with a thick omelette, making it a good choice for those looking for a filling meal. In addition to the side dishes, the store has a wide variety of items on two floors, making it a great option for stocking up on meat for BBQs or stews. The store is open 24 hours. Bon appétit!
