I visited Beck's Coffee Shop in Tabata. The shop is located near the north ticket gate of JR Tabata Station (inside the gate). Beck's Coffee Shop is a coffee shop operated by JR East Japan's subsidiary "JR East Japan Cross Station" food company, which is franchised. It was my first time visiting this store. I entered around 11:30 am on a weekday. There were about 5 customers inside. The shop had counter seats and table seats. Acrylic panels were installed on the counter seats. Before coming here, I had eaten soba in Komagome. It was a very hot day, and the water provided at the soba shop was room temperature. After eating soba, I couldn't quench my thirst with water, so I decided to visit here during my train transfer. Menu item I had on this day: Rich Lemonade M Size (420 yen tax included). I enjoyed this drink at the counter seat in the store. I had tried this drink last year and it was delicious, so I ordered it again. According to the website, "The classic lemonade has been enhanced with lemon peel and concentrated lemon juice sauce, creating an even richer lemonade." They also use Setouchi lemon juice. The sauce was at the bottom of the glass, so I stirred it well. This lemonade included 3 slices of lemon and mint leaves as toppings. It was sweet with a strong lemon acidity, creating a refreshing sweet and sour taste with a good balance of sweetness and acidity. The texture of the lemon peel added an accent, and the mint flavor added a refreshing touch, making it a delicious drink. The shop entrance was narrow, so I thought it was a small shop, but it was actually spacious inside, with a relaxing atmosphere. (According to the website, there are 45 seats) I was thirsty, but I was able to quench my thirst with the lemonade. I often use Tabata Station for transfers, so I would like to take a break and enjoy a drink at this shop again. Thank you for the meal.

"Becks Coffee Shop" is a chain cafe commonly found in train stations in the Tokyo area. It may not be as familiar to people from other regions. It is operated by a subsidiary of JR East Japan. I have used it for takeout before, but this time I dined in for lunch. The food menu is very limited, with only two types of curry rice excluding bread. There are no pasta dishes commonly found in cafes. However, as long as you can have curry, it should be sufficient. I ordered the "Pulled Pork Curry with 30 Spices" (tax included 640 yen). As usual, if you do not order a drink along with it, you can have a meal at a reasonable price. Please note that credit card payment is not accepted. The curry contains plenty of pork and large chunks of potatoes. The ingredients provide a high level of satisfaction. The curry sauce is not too spicy and has a flavor that goes well with any situation. It is easy to recommend to anyone, regardless of age or gender. The rice was a blend of sixteen grains. It would have been even better if they could offer a cheaper option by changing it to white rice.

At the ticket gate inside Tabata Station, there is also a smoking area. It's convenient to stop by at the shop located right before the escalator towards the ticket gate, either at the front car for the Yamanote Line inner loop or the last car for the outer loop. The store looked clean, perhaps recently renovated. I had the "Spicy Cheese Dog" (290 yen) with a "Cold Brew Iced Coffee (S)" (250 yen) - as shown in the photo. The hot dog was surprisingly delicious. It was cooked close to being grilled, giving a slightly burnt flavor on the bread's surface, adding a nice aroma overall. The meaty texture and rich cheese flavor were also good. The spiciness may come from the mustard seeds? I couldn't really tell. The Beck's cold brew iced coffee had a slightly mild bitterness and a fragrant taste. Since it's served with crushed ice, it can become watery as it melts, so it's best to drink it quickly. On March 17, 2019 (Sunday) at 15:06 (from the receipt), I got off at this station for the first time in 36 years. I used to commute from Tabata Station to Sugamo Station in the past. The area in front of the station has changed a lot. I had a strong Uji matcha latte for 370 yen from this shop inside the station during tea time. As the name suggests, it has a rich flavor and a beautiful color. The cream goes well with it too! One cup may not be enough in terms of quantity...

This time, I ordered the 30-item plate. It costs 590 yen. The cost performance is amazing. It has a strong flavor, but not too overpowering. It's like a slightly smaller version of the 1000 yen plates often found in trendy cafes. I was surprised by the high quality. Also, when I visited after a long time, the interior of the store had been renovated and it had become very stylish with a good atmosphere. The customers were mostly elderly, maybe because it's in Tabata. Bon appétit.

I also had an iced jasmine tea with it. I was worried if it would be enough to fill me up, but I was completely satisfied. I wish I could have a meal like this all the time.

Inside Tabata Station, there is a Beck's Coffee as well as a udon restaurant, but Beck's Coffee had interesting options like a game plate and green curry, so I chose that. I'm not very familiar with game or terrine, but the plate had protein, vegetables, and carbohydrates all in one, making it a perfect meal for me with limited time. It was my first time using Beck's Coffee at Tabata Station, but I think I will be using it more often from now on.

I was planning to have lunch in Takadanobaba before work, but I overslept and was thinking about getting a convenience store bento. However, I found a place with an attractive price and a morning set available until 11 am! It looked delicious, so I decided to go in. It's been a while since I had a morning set. I used to enjoy them when I was a kid, going to cafes with my mom. The modern morning sets look stylish now! The scrambled eggs have a nice buttery aroma, slightly sweet and goes well with the salty bacon. The toast is thinly sliced (about 8 slices) and generously buttered, very tasty! The small vegetable juice looks healthy. It's quite thick. The yogurt with honey and granola is just right in sweetness. I finished with a cafe au lait, enjoying a leisurely morning? lunch? Honestly, the portion was not enough at all, but considering the price and the morning set, I think it's totally worth it. (laughs)

While sitting on the train lost in thought, I ended up passing my intended station. When I decided to switch sides, I noticed this shop. I decided to go in to clear my mind. I ordered an iced tea and a hot dog to satisfy my slight hunger, which cost ¥470. The hot dog was cut in half, making it easy to eat. Thanks to that, my stomach settled down and... my mind cleared up? I even found a solution to the problem I was thinking about. Now, I'll head back to the office to finish up work, and then maybe go out for a drink with my colleagues. That meal was satisfying.

I used it for lunchtime. From the recommended spring menu, I had the omelette cuscus sandwich & watercress salad plate with a drink for 720 yen. The sandwich had firm bread and was packed with ingredients. It was more filling and tasty than it looks. I was happy that it came with a salad. It also came with a dessert with crackers, which were delicious! The drink was average in taste and quantity. After 12 o'clock, customers kept coming in non-stop. The seats were full. There were customers of all ages, from young people to the elderly. Many people ordered sets. Even when it got crowded, the service from the staff was good, which left a strong impression. I only had 10 minutes, so I bought an iced coffee (put in a plastic cup for takeaway) and a packaged sandwich from the refrigerated case. There were 3 types available, but I chose a common mixed one. The sandwich was made by "NRE Japan Restaurant Enterprises" and I was happy to see a seal saying "No emulsifiers or yeast food used in the bread". The bread tasted delicious, maybe because of that.
