In this neighborhood, there used to be Queens Isetan and Shizukaya, but they have somehow closed down. Setagaya is actually a fierce battleground. Supermarket companies often think that if they can make it in Setagaya, they can make it anywhere, so they often open high-end supermarkets here. But the current residents of Setagaya are ultimately not rich, many are from the countryside like my family, and have been living in Setagaya for over a thousand years. So, it's funny for us old families to see this. There are more poor people here, so places like Gyomu Super are always crowded! Today, as usual, I bought seasonings, cheese, canned goods, etc.

Today, I went to the Gyomu Super in Hanno last week, so there wasn't much to buy, but my parents wanted to go shopping there! We crossed the Kandai Highway and passed by the gas tanks on the way. We entered at noon, around 12 o'clock, and it was quite crowded. Maybe people are stocking up on seasonings because the consumption tax is going up, but wasn't food already at 8%? I don't really know about that kind of stuff because I work in a place where it doesn't really affect me, haha. The meat section here is pretty small for a tenant, but I wonder if it's directly managed? The meat looks like it has good color, but I'm not an expert on meat so I'm not sure. I like the pork trotters here, so I ended up buying them. After eating this, if you give the bones to a raccoon dog, they will be happy!

Back in the day, when I was working at a certain department store in Shinjuku, all the registers were manual. After closing, we would have to deal with the frustrating task of balancing the cash. Sometimes, criminals would try to scam us by pretending to be customers and pulling off change scams. It was very old-fashioned back then. This was around the time when barcode scanners were starting to be introduced at the registers, but they were so expensive, around 300 million yen for one machine. Can you believe that? Now, every store has barcode scanners and products come with barcodes. But back in the day, we had to manually input the prices using a machine that looked like a "gun." I recently bought a lot of seasonings, focusing on salt and whole peppercorns that we use while cooking at home. We can't live without these! If it's not this salt, the food just doesn't taste as good.

When going to Gyomu Super, it would be better to go to a store with a "proper" fresh food tenant, but there are not many Gyomu Super stores in Tokyo. So, I reluctantly come to this one near my home. Today, I bought only items like seasonings, dressings, and soups that are cheaper to buy here. After this, I will go shopping at Super Value in Takaido area.

Today is the day I return to my home in Setagaya once a month. I should buy all the seasonings and other ingredients for this house. As usual, I bought seasonings, cocoa, and dairy products. I realized that I was running out of cooking sake, so I thought I should buy some in the liquor section. However, when I went to the corner, I found that the selection of alcohol had drastically decreased, with only one shelf left. Furthermore, they only had shochu and no sake. If it's not selling well, I guess there's no helping it.

Today is the day to return to my home in Setagaya, once a month. It was rare that my son was at home. Take care of your health and spend your time well. I went to my parents' house and took my mother to the usual business supermarket. Since there are no fresh food tenants here, it is quite shabby. So the things I buy have become standardized. Usually, I buy carbonated water, sliced cheese, dressing, various types of peanut butter, rock salt, tube garlic and ginger powder, canned tuna, cocoa powder. It's all pretty edible, so it's very useful!

Today, I returned to my home in Setagaya. I didn't buy much, but I found pink rock salt that I can only get here. I love the taste of Himalayan salt when I grate it upside down. I bought it and brought it home. When I tried to grate it over my food, the lid fell off and spilled all over the floor. This is why I think discount supermarkets are not so great. I also bought my favorite Knorr soup, which is really delicious and convenient.

Today, I returned to my home in Setagaya and did some shopping. It was unusual to have both my eldest and second son at home today. One thing I always buy at the business supermarket is "nabe tsuyu" during the winter. There are 4 types available for 100 yen or less! Surprisingly, they taste good and can be used for dishes like shabu-shabu. It's a must-have item in the winter. Another item I always buy is "rock salt" that I grind myself. There are several types available, but the pink rock salt has the best flavor! I also like to buy various dressings for just over 100 yen. Currently, I prefer the Japanese-style dressings. Additionally, I always have a 30-pack of corn soup and potato soup for breakfast in the winter. Occasionally, I buy vacuum-packed pig trotters. I eat the meat myself and the bones make a perfect snack for my raccoon dog. I recommend trying the above items.

Today, I returned to my home in Setagaya and stocked up on seasonings from both my home and my villa! While leafy vegetables are expensive due to the typhoon's impact elsewhere, they are cheap here, probably because they were harvested before the typhoon hit. Vegetables are cheap, but they are not that tasty as they are grown using conventional methods. It's not good to buy cheap seasonings; you need to buy somewhat expensive ones for good taste, so please be careful!

Today, I returned to my home in Setagaya and stocked up on carbonated water, dairy products, ham, ketchup, and more. I like that there is a variety of seasonings available here. Lately, I've been enjoying using rock salt - I love grilling meat with just a sprinkle of it!

Today is the beginning of Golden Week and it's empty everywhere in the city. It seems like most people are from the countryside. True Tokyo natives like me are becoming extinct... Everyone just says "I'm from Tokyo" starting from my grandfather's generation. Anyway, it's usually crowded but today it was easy to shop because it's empty here... I bought my favorite spicy miso pig trotters and lemon juice, sugar, and shochu to make homemade lemon sours! They say store-bought ones aren't good, so I make my own!

Today, I usually go to the business supermarkets in the Tama region or Saitama, but I went shopping at this place near my home. Oh, this place is next to the Akigawa Park, where I used to play when I was a kid! The vegetables here are not good and expensive, so I bought condiments and daily necessities as usual. Of course, I also bought the pork trotters from my favorite meat section! After eating them, give the bones to the raccoons in the garden, they will be very happy to eat them! Everyone, please give them to the raccoons in your garden after you finish eating!

Today, I returned to my home in Setagaya and went to the Gyomu Super for some shopping. Unfortunately, this store doesn't have a lot of fresh produce or meat tenants, so it's quite disappointing. The prices are also high, so there's not much to buy in terms of vegetables. However, recently I've found something I really like here, which is the 2-serving instant Napolitan (85 yen). You can eat it as it is after heating it up, but if you add onions and stir-fry it, it makes a pretty good bento. I've been bringing it once a week lately!

Today, I returned to my home in Setagaya, but there was still a lot of snow like at my mountain villa, so it was funny haha. This time, I want to make seasoning in general and a summer orange liquor, so I bought shochu and some other things that caught my eye. There was a pack of retort Napoli-style pasta with 2 servings for 85 yen, and the noodles aren't that bad, so I recommend adding sausages and onions and stir-frying it to make a simple bento! This time, my payment exceeded 10,000 yen.

Today, I went to a nearby wholesale supermarket because my mother who lives alone at home wanted to buy a large amount of eggs to make datemaki (sweet rolled omelette). She is apparently a master at making datemaki and plans to give them to neighbors. Personally, I don't like datemaki at all, but I went along to buy some other items. This supermarket had a limited selection of fresh produce and meat, but for some reason, they have the best pig trotters which I love, especially with the spicy sauce. I also picked up some ham, cheese, yogurt, and other items that were running low in the fridge. I couldn't find the noodle soup base I wanted, so I settled for a different brand. And since beef tendons were on sale, I decided to grab some to make delicious gyudon (beef bowl). I might just visit this supermarket again before the end of the year, but I'll probably still go to my favorite restaurant in Hanno for a meal.

Today, I went shopping with my mother who lives alone nearby in Setagaya. We always buy heavy groceries together every month! I always buy pig's feet from here because they are so delicious. The sauce is spicy and tasty! However, this place sells both fresh produce and meat, but I don't think they have tenants here. They probably just buy and display the products because the prices for the fresh produce are ridiculously high! What's up with these prices? They don't seem to check the market prices or how much other supermarkets are selling them for. With these prices and quality, no one will buy them!

This may be due to the high cost of land in Setagaya, making it difficult for large supermarkets that rely on customers driving to the store. One item I recommend from the meat section is the pig's feet. It comes with a delicious spicy sauce inside and is cut into small pieces for easy consumption. The leftover bones can be used to make a tasty broth. I suggest trying it out at a business supermarket near you!

I bought a Green Curry Noodle from a business supermarket near my home on a whim, which I had purchased a month ago. I didn't feel like going out for lunch, so I decided to make it. I poured hot water and waited for 4 minutes, like cup noodles, or you can cook it in a pot like regular noodles for about 1.5 minutes. I chose to cook it in a pot. It was quicker than I expected, with powder soup and liquid seasoning. The noodles seemed a bit different from Japanese ones at first, but I got used to it. The soup was really green curry and quite spicy. Each pack is 70g, about the size of a small cup noodle. I used two packs this time. I tried adding rice, and it was delicious. I think it would be tasty to make a Green Curry hot pot using five packs. I'll try that next time (I already bought them). Thank you for the meal.
