I came to Cafe Bar Ao to eat eel. The cozy interior of the small shop serves Hitsumabushi, a dish where rice is replaced with ice. The freshly grilled eel is topped with shredded egg, seaweed, wasabi, and pickled ginger, along with fluffy ice. Yes, ice (lol). Lastly, mix the melted ice with the eel for a delicious combination that goes well with beer.

I visited "CAFE BAR AO," located along Roppongi Street, just a 10-minute walk from Roppongi Station and near the Nishi-Azabu intersection. This place specializes in custom-made shaved ice where you can choose your favorite syrup and toppings from a variety of options. The menu changes daily, so it's a bit of luck if you can find your preferred flavor. Although I was aiming for the tonkotsu ramen flavor, it was unfortunately sold out on the day I visited. The master recommended the green curry flavor, but I ended up creating my own "Hachimogu Special" with matcha milk, condensed milk cream, kaki-pi, and pickled radish toppings (1300 yen). It was a creation focused more on impact than taste, and surprisingly, it worked well without any sense of discomfort. Feel free to try it out!

CAFE BAR AO offers custom-made shaved ice, and I chose the seasonal limited edition "Obake-chan" for Halloween. As a big fan of Halloween, I had to try this cute shaved ice! Located near Nishi-Azabu intersection, CAFE BAR AO uses organic cane sugar in their syrups, making it a body-friendly treat for both adults and children. Despite being in the sophisticated area of Nishi-Azabu, you can still spot young kids enjoying the shaved ice. The Obake-chan shaved ice was so cute with its pumpkin milk flavor, topped with cane sugar cream, coconut chiffon, and purple sweet potato cream, all shaped like a ghostly face! It also came with black sesame and pumpkin sauce on the side. The cane sugar cream was rich, not too sweet, and had a gentle flavor. The combination of pumpkin, sweet potato, black sesame, and coconut was just perfect! And it was not only cute but also delicious! The custom-made menu offers a variety of unique toppings, such as pickled shiba (dog) and garlic chips. I bet you're curious now, right? You should definitely visit and try it out! If you discover any golden menu items, please let me know. Thank you for the wonderful meal.

The shop is small with counter seats and table seats available. The distance to the staff is close, making it easy for even one person to enter without hesitation. They offer a set menu for shaved ice, but you can also create your own original by choosing your favorite syrup, cream, sauce, toppings, etc., just like this time! With a wide variety of options on the menu, it's fun to choose, and making shaved ice for the first time in my life was so enjoyable! The shaved ice has a good portion size and a satisfying taste. I recommend ordering different flavors with a friend and sharing, as it's fun. The shaved ice is fluffy and soft, melting in your mouth instantly! The shape is also beautiful, perfect for Instagram-worthy photos!

I revisited Cafe Bar AO, located near Nishi-Azabu intersection, an 11-minute walk from Roppongi Station! When it comes to Cafe Bar AO, their custom-made shaved ice is a must-try! This time, I decided to go all out and added figs, peaches, chestnut cream, and pistachio cream! The total cost was ¥2,100. The pistachio cream was rich and fragrant, while the chestnut cream had a hint of alcohol that added a nice touch to the flavor. It paired perfectly with the figs and peaches! Although it's hard to tell from the photos, the portion size was generous and satisfying. You can also consult with the staff to come up with recommended combinations, making it a fun experience for those who enjoy thinking about unique shaved ice combinations. The shop is planning to relocate to Azabu-Juban, so I look forward to visiting again after the move. Thank you for the delicious meal.

I visited Cafe Bar Aoi after seeing their unique shaved ice on Instagram, which featured a delicious-looking Shine Muscat topping. They offer customizable shaved ice where you can choose your own toppings like honey and sauce. I visited in early September on a cold day and was able to enter without waiting in line. I ordered the Shine Muscat shaved ice for 2800 yen. They served a generous amount of Shine Muscat on top, and there were also plenty of pieces inside. The Shine Muscat was sweet and juicy, and just the amount on the plate was quite satisfying. The ice base was made with milk, but it was light and didn't overpower the sweetness of the fruit. The cream and honey inside were a bit sweet but delicious, although it did make it hard to fully appreciate the sweetness of the Shine Muscat. However, the cream was tasty. The portion size and satisfaction level were good, and the not-too-heavy cream and honey base made it refreshing to enjoy. Since it's a limited-time offer, I would like to visit again.

Cafe Bar Aosan. The Shine Muscat was very refreshing, so I went for a second cup. For some reason, I couldn't add a photo to my first post, so I had to split it into two posts... I wonder why. ⭐️You can order your own original shaved ice! Mini size 1000 yen⭐️With the customizable shaved ice, you can choose the base, sauce, cream, and toppings all to your liking for a fixed price. (There are additional options available) With so many choices, it's hard to decide on the sauce and cream combination...!!! I was curious about the sake lees cream, so I really wanted to try it, and I chose a milk base to keep it more subdued. I topped it with nuts and went for the chocolate sauce, which seemed like the best match. I must say, the combination turned out really well! However, the alcohol in the nuts was quite strong... I was a little surprised. For those who are not good with alcohol, be careful. I ended up drinking a lot of water afterwards. It had a much stronger flavor compared to the Shine Muscat, so the mini size was quite satisfying. The chocolate sauce and nuts complemented each other well and it was delicious. Since they make the sauce after you order, it seems like there might be quite a wait during the summer... I'm glad I went at a less busy time.

Located a 10-minute walk from Roppongi Station, this shaved ice shop is subleasing a bar in Nishi-Azabu. ✔️ Custom-made shaved ice with blue cheese milk base syrup, cheese cream, honey, and Shine Muscat (+500 yen) ✔️ Shine Muscat shaved ice (2,800 yen) For the custom-made shaved ice, you can choose your favorite ingredients from the options available! Up to 4 toppings for 1,300 yen. I had a hard time deciding from the variety of ingredients, but since I love cheese, I went with this combination! The blue cheese didn't have a strong smell and was easy to eat! The cheese cream was sweet and creamy, very delicious ❤️ Adding Shine Muscat toppings costs an extra 500 yen. It paired perfectly with the cheese cream! The limited Shine Muscat shaved ice had so many grapes hidden inside, it felt like there were more grapes than ice! 😂 The base syrup had a nutty aroma like black tea, but it wasn't specified what it was made of. I'm curious...!! I should have asked the staff about it 😂 With an abundance of fresh and juicy Shine Muscat grapes piled on top, the ice almost collapsed under their weight as I ate! It was a luxurious shaved ice experience ✨

At night, it's a bar, and during the day, it's a shared space for a shaved ice shop! You can create your own custom shaved ice by choosing a base syrup and 4 toppings. You can also add extra toppings for an additional fee. There are unique options like basil green tea, bacon, soy sauce cream, and Grana Padano cheese. They shave the Grana Padano cheese right in front of you and torch the bacon for the soy sauce cream! The savory shaved ice options are incredibly delicious! It was fun to mix and match your favorite flavors!

A shop where you can enjoy custom-made shaved ice using your favorite ingredients. In addition to custom-made options, they also have existing menu items. The custom-made options offer a wide variety of ingredients to choose from, making it fun to create unique combinations. The prices are reasonable, starting at 1400 yen for up to 4 ingredients, with each additional ingredient costing 100 yen. The shaved ice I created on this day was pistachio milk (base), miso cream (middle layer), Calpis cream (topping), and salted kelp (topping). It turned out quite well, especially the salted kelp which was a good choice. I look forward to trying a more adventurous combination next time. The only downside is that the regular menu options are limited, so it may not be recommended for those who are not familiar with shaved ice.

Tokyo・Nishi-Azabu・Cafe Bar AO.. A shaved ice shop is opening in Azabu-Juban in mid-month‼️.. Currently, they are operating temporarily at Cafe Bar CO in Nishi-Azabu⤴️.. I was curious about the Azabu-Juban store, but since it's nearby, I decided to drop by spontaneously‼️.. As it is a bar, the interior is stylish with a focus on the counter✨.. On Saturday afternoons, there are many women here⤴️.. The menu is quite extensive, so it's better to study it beforehand (lol).. There are many unique and bold toppings, making it hard to decide... I am just fascinated by the many toppings (lol).. I don't know how to match pickled radish or Japanese pepper (sansho) with shaved ice (lol).. But don't worry, there are recommended menu items to rely on❣️.. I hesitated between chilled soup, Coco Banana Chocolate, and ended up with Sake Kasu Lemon Milk.. I couldn't be too adventurous, but this was delicious.. The refreshing acidity of lemon perfectly brings out the sweetness of sake kasu, with the not overly sweet milk creating a refreshing unity✨.. It's amazing how they come together despite seeming disparate.. This makes me think that other adventurous menu items would probably be good too...

Chilled soup for 1400 yen, Cocoa and coconut and banana (forgot the name) for 1500 yen. The chilled soup is refreshing and delicious, with a strong miso flavor mixed nicely with dashi. It's light and slightly sweet, with crispy fried tofu and tofu in it. The pink jam is plum. The cocoa coconut dessert is sweet and not too heavy since it's cocoa-based.

The first shaved ice of the year is three types of shaved ice from CAFE BAR AO, which is scheduled to open in early July in Azabu-Juban! This time, we had the opportunity to taste the menu that will be served at the store in advance. ・Matcha Tiramisu A tall shaved ice! I was worried if I could finish it by myself... but it was so delicious that I finished it in one go☺️ First, the lightness of the ice! It's fluffy and doesn't make my head feel numb, which is great! It uses plenty of matcha from a tea shop with a history of 200 years, and the strong matcha flavor, combined with the rich cream, is a perfect match! This cream... it's really delicious!! It is made by mixing tofu and cheese made by blending rum without alcohol, and the sweet black beans on top are also a nice accent! It has a sense of unity, and the balance of Japanese and Western flavors is well-matched, so I couldn't stop eating it~ As you eat through the ice, there is plenty of cream inside, so you can enjoy it until the end! ・Miso Soup Huh? Huh?? Miso soup shaved ice, what's that about! 😂 This is my first experience with miso soup shaved ice! 😂 I only had a little, but it's definitely miso soup... It's really amazing, it's like a whole new genre of food beyond the level of creative shaved ice... It is based on soy milk and topped with a unique blend of miso cream! And... the toppings are the classic miso soup ingredients of fried tofu, seaweed, and tofu?? The aroma of green onion oil is also fragrant and very interesting and delicious~ I really want everyone to try it! ・Basil Green Tea Lemon A refreshing and refreshing shaved ice! When you take a bite, the fragrance of basil gently spreads, followed by the acidity of lemon in your mouth! This is not basil and green tea, but a type of tea leaf called basil green tea, which is a rare variety with few varieties available! The cream on top is strained yogurt, which goes perfectly with basil green tea!! It's reliably delicious, and it's refreshing, so it feels like the ultimate summer shaved ice! They were all so delicious! I'm curious about the other shaved ice flavors like chocolate mint and whole watermelon... It seems that new menus will continue to be added in the future, so I want to go back and eat again~ How about starting your shaved ice for this year at CAFE BAR AO? #CAFEBARAO @Azabu-Juban ◾️Store IG @cafebarao ◾️Type Shaved ice ◾️Price ¥1,000-¥2,000 ◾️Closed No regular holidays ◾️Food blog -(None as it has just opened)

Here is a review of cafe bar AO, which is currently operating as a pop-up until its opening in Azabu-Juban. The manager, AO, used to work at awabar in Roppongi. Located at the intersection in Nishi-Azabu, cafe bar CO is where they are currently operating until the end of this month (probably). No reservation is needed, so you can just drop by. I have been a regular since the awabar days, and I was amazed by the "Miso Soup" kakigori. It consists of fluffy ice with tofu, green onions, wakame seaweed, fried tofu, and miso cream. The fried tofu is crispy and the green onion oil adds a fantastic touch. It is incredibly delicious. Even my friend who isn't interested in kakigori was impressed by the unique flavor of miso soup in shaved ice form. The "Zunda & Anko" combination is a favorite of mine, but it is not currently on the menu. I hope it makes a comeback. The "Basil Green Tea Lemon" is a refreshing drink with basil green tea and a yogurt sauce on top. The lemon on top is a delightful surprise at the end. It was perfect for a hot day. The "Honey Mustard Mimosa Salad Style" is a mustard cream dish with boiled eggs and broccoli. It is a well-chilled salad that tastes amazing. I think the chef is a genius. It is worth making the trip to the Nishi-Azabu intersection, even if it means walking from Roppongi or taking a taxi. I highly recommend trying the "Miso Soup" kakigori!

I went to the restaurant for the first time since the Fujiyama collaboration last year. The chef was at the counter, which was unusual. I ordered the chocolate mint flavor, which I think will become a popular choice because it was delicious. It may not have fruit in it, but I think it's a great combination. I'm not a big fan of chocolate mint, but I really enjoyed it. The mint flavor was refreshing on a hot day, and the crunchy chocolate added a nice touch. There was plenty of chocolate inside, so it was delicious until the last bite. Thank you for the meal!
