Located on the 2nd floor of a building in front of Sugamo Station, this family restaurant is part of the Skylark group. I was surprised to see it open in Sugamo after recently noticing them popping up in roadside locations in the suburbs. I was curious about it, so I decided to visit for lunch. The main menu seems to offer all-you-can-eat options, with prices set based on the number of dishes you can choose. There are also set menus where you can choose from a selection of dim sum dishes, as well as the option to order individual items. I opted for the "Choose Dim Sum Course" with a "5-item set" for ¥1694 (tax included). You can choose one noodle or rice dish and four dim sum dishes. I ended up choosing items only available in the highest-priced all-you-can-eat course (^^;) Orders are placed using a tablet on the table, and the familiar Skylark cat robot delivers the dishes. Payment can be made efficiently using PayPay on the tablet. The food arrived quickly after ordering. I enjoyed the chicken salt soup noodles, Peking duck, spicy chicken with drooling sauce, steamed shrimp dumplings, and fried white fish. They were all delicious, with a consistent and reliable taste typical of Skylark restaurants. While it may not offer anything special, it's a good option for a casual and easy dim sum experience. For dessert, I ordered Taiwanese shaved ice (not included in the set or all-you-can-eat menu). Topped with mango, red beans, black tapioca, and wolfberries, the milk-flavored ice was fluffy and tasty. The only downside was that the mango was still frozen and not thawed, and the tapioca became too hard when it arrived warm and then cooled down due to the ice. I hope they can improve this. I would like to return someday with a bigger appetite to try the all-you-can-eat course.

I wanted to eat lu rou fan, so I chose the set menu that had it. The set came with cabbage stir-fried in soy sauce, mustard greens, and almond jelly. Later, three types of siu mai were brought to the table. The cabbage stir-fry was not very tasty as the seasoning was too light, but the lu rou fan had a nice fragrance of five-spice powder and reminded me of Taiwan, so it was delicious. The siu mai, which included crab, regular, and corn with green peas, each had a unique flavor and were tasty. The only disappointment was the cabbage stir-fry. Personally, I wish the whole meal had been more delicious overall.

◎Cost performance quality: 80 points, Service: 75 points, Cleanliness: 83 points. ◎Overall rating: 80 points (out of 100). ◎Overall satisfaction: If you're looking for a place to enjoy various types of Chinese dishes in a casual setting, this place is recommended. It has a stable quality, but the taste is on par with a family restaurant. ◎Order details: Set menu for ¥1290. Choose 1 main dish from 6 options, and 3 dishes from 21 options, plus dim sum. Yakisoba: Tastes similar to yakisoba from a certain chain. Portion sizes are on the smaller side. Recommended dishes: Peking duck, shrimp spring rolls, crab xiao long bao. ◎Location: 3-minute walk from Sugamo Station. ◎Power outlets: No, Wi-Fi: No. ◎Toilet cleanliness: Good. Thank you for the meal! #TokyoGourmet #Japan #FoodPorn #Tabelog #Tokyo #Foodie #FoodCrawl

At Sugamo, I noticed there was a machine for checking in at the new Saizeriya concept store at 11:30, which was good, but people seemed to just line up normally. It felt a bit unfriendly. However, once inside, they had books to pass the time. After waiting hard for about 45 minutes, I finally got a seat. I ordered a set of 6 dishes for 1969 yen. There weren't many menu options to choose from, but it wasn't like a buffet where you only want to eat the more expensive items. I ordered dim sum like xiaolongbao and Peking duck. The dim sum came out quickly and was delicious, not like some reviews mentioned. The free flow of pickled ginger at the table was a nice touch. As a side note, the steamer baskets can be stacked with their lids, showing good attention to detail. They also brought water without us having to ask, which was nice. With dessert added, the total bill for two came to just under 5000 yen. Thank you for the meal!

When transferring at Sugamo, I visited the restaurant before 10 pm. Although there were some good value set menus available, I wasn't in the mood for noodle dishes, so I ordered individual items. The seasonal warm vegetable dish (439 yen) was made with Chinese cabbage. It had a crunchy texture and was simply seasoned with soy sauce. The extravagant set of three types of shumai (494 yen) included standard pork shumai, seafood shumai topped with tobiko, and decorative shrimp shumai. While the latter two looked nice, they were a bit powdery in texture, so the regular pork shumai was the best. The shrimp rice noodle roll (549 yen) had thick skin and a slightly chewy texture. I like rice noodle rolls, but it's rare to find one with a perfect chewy texture and smooth feeling. Among all, I liked the jade dumplings (439 yen) the most. They had a nice vegetable aroma and a good crunchy texture. In conclusion, you can still enjoy ordering individual items, but the all-you-can-eat or set menus seem to offer better value and variety.

A newly opened all-you-can-eat dim sum restaurant in Sugamo, which used to be a Jonathan's before changing its concept and reopening. Right next to it is Shabu-Shabu Ichibanya, also part of the same Skylark Group. I often interact with people from Taiwan due to work, so I think they enjoy dim sum relatively more. According to Taiwanese people, dim sum is considered a snack. Each dish is small and bite-sized, making it easy for women to enjoy a variety of dishes without feeling overwhelmed. The restaurant has a slightly Chinese atmosphere, but not overly exotic like some mainland Chinese restaurants. I ordered the A-course all-you-can-eat option this time. Despite being the cheapest course, the menu is extensive, including dim sum, stir-fries, noodles, rice dishes, and desserts. The staff are efficient in serving the dishes, with cute robots also assisting in delivering food. The speed of service is generally good, with dim sum taking a bit longer due to steaming time, but still served within 10 minutes. The freshly steamed dim sum is a highlight. The taste is suitable for Japanese palates, making it a safe choice even for those not accustomed to Chinese cuisine. The dishes are not too oily, making them easy on the stomach. Overall, the dishes are more like appetizers, so it may not be suitable for those looking for a hearty meal. However, it's a great place to enjoy various dishes while chatting with friends or family.

Louro rice set 1,309 yen ・I arrived at around 11:30 on a weekday and the restaurant was about 70% full. It never got completely full afterwards. ・They provide large chopsticks for the xiaolongbao and finely sliced ginger on top, which shows attention to detail. However, the xiaolongbao itself didn't have much soup inside when bitten into, which was disappointing. ・The lunch menu is priced the same as dinner. The lunch isn't cheaper, so maybe the selling point is the all-you-can-eat menu. ・I would like to try the all-you-can-eat option, but even with just the lunch set, I got quite full, so I don't think I could eat that much. ・It would be nice if there was a bit more soup in the xiaolongbao.
