In Komagome, we visited a surprisingly rare casual izakaya with my colleagues from work. We went on a Wednesday and the restaurant was bustling with a lively atmosphere, but not too noisy or rowdy, it was a calm kind of lively. This time we were seated at a table for 4 people, which was spacious. We started with a toast with bottled beer, ordered some typical izakaya dishes like potato salad and fried potatoes, and also tried the recommended dishes written on the whiteboard, such as Goya Champuru, kushikatsu, and meat-wrapped peppers. The Goya Champuru was praised by my colleague from Okinawa who said it made them want to go back home, it was delicious! The kushikatsu with onion and pork was a classic choice and paired perfectly with beer. And the meat-wrapped peppers with cheese inside were also very good. We finished off with some Napolitan, which was nostalgic with onions, peppers, thinly sliced wiener, soft noodles, and ketchup, it went well with the drinks until the end. This izakaya always offers high satisfaction and value for money, thank you for the meal!

Once upon a time, I worked at a company in Komagome for about 2 years. It's been almost 20 years since then, so I came back to Komagome for a comedy show. I didn't have any particular feelings, but I ended up stopping by this restaurant that I used to visit a lot when my company was in the building next door. It has a cozy and homey atmosphere, different from the typical chain restaurants. They always remembered me and even gave me special treatment with seating. It's a large place, but feels like a small, local restaurant. I used to frequent another place called "Tanbo" in Komagome, but it's closed now. I'm glad that Japan Sea is still open and doing well. It's been a while since I visited, so I don't remember much, but I used to drink hoppy back then. I don't think they had red hoppy at that time. I like the refreshing taste of red hoppy, even though it's slightly more expensive. As I got tipsy, I switched to the cheaper white hoppy, haha. The food here is always decently tasty and reasonably priced. It's a reliable izakaya where you can feel comfortable. It's nice to see that it's still going strong, being a good neighborhood spot for so long.

This is a popular izakaya located in the basement of a building just a 1-minute walk from Komagome Station. Despite initially feeling crowded, we were guided to a spacious table for six, which we had to ourselves as a party of two. We started with a toast with bottled beer, and the fatty tuna sashimi wrapped in Korean seaweed was the perfect match, with its rich flavor complementing the beer. Next, we enjoyed a Caesar salad and burdock root tempura, both flavorful and delicious. The crispy cheese on the Caesar salad was particularly outstanding. We then moved on to sake and highballs, ordering various types of yakitori: tsukune (with sauce), garlic tsukune (with salt), gizzard (with salt), and garlic chicken skin (with salt). The garlic was abundant and the flavors were amazing, though it's worth noting that it might leave a strong aftertaste if you have plans the next day. Everything was so delicious that we also ordered a natto omelette and salt yakisoba to finish off the meal. The natto omelette was filled with plenty of natto and was tasty, while the salt yakisoba had just the right amount of saltiness for a satisfying end to the meal. The dishes were seasonal and varied, the fish was delicious, and above all, the attitude of the staff was pleasant. The food and drinks were both delicious and reasonably priced, making it a great restaurant to visit!

The fact that there is this shop in Komagome, which has nothing to do with the Genkai or Nihonkai Shoya series, is great. Many sake lovers must think so. I also visit this place at least once a week and keep a bottle there. ①First of all, the tuna is delicious!!! I was surprised when I first came here. There is a sign that says "We provide only natural bluefin tuna at our store." I tried both maguro and maguro butsu sashimi. No doubt, it's natural bluefin tuna. I've been to many sushi restaurants, but this is real bluefin tuna. And this mountain of maguro butsu is only 580 yen? The cost performance is amazing. By the way, the wasabi is also delicious. ②The first drink is cheap!!! I'm sorry for those who prefer draft beer for their first drink. But for those who are okay with bottled beer, here's some good news. Asahi Super Dry's large bottle is only 420 yen. You can enjoy a chilled large bottle with a glass. ③The spacious feeling inside the store that you wouldn't expect from a station in the Yamanote Line area. There are plenty of tatami seats, and you can also use the counter seats for one or two people. In other words, you can comfortably drink here whether you are with children, in a large group, or alone. A very useful shop that is hard to come by. ④Overall, the cost performance is great. As mentioned earlier, the natural bluefin tuna, as well as the large bottle, are cheap. You can also keep a one-liter bottle of Kinmiya for 3,000 yen. Each time, you get a green tea mix set for 600 yen. Personally, it's almost like drinking at home. I am truly grateful for this shop. As long as I live nearby, I will continue to visit.

Komagome Station South Exit is a 2-minute walk away. You can see a sign along the road behind McDonald's. The restaurant is downstairs after you go down the stairs. The menu is extensive and everything is delicious. It's easy to enter even if you're alone, but the counter is often crowded with regular customers. There are also plenty of table seats, so you can relax even if you're alone. There is also a large banquet hall in the back, so you can use it for various purposes. I was able to relax. Thank you for the meal!

Located just a minute's walk from Komagome Station, this casual izakaya was recently opened so I visited with friends to catch up. We were seated in a spacious sunken kotatsu table, which left a great impression. I had been here before COVID-19 and was pleased to find that the restaurant is now smoke-free. We started with bottled beer (420 yen) and ordered specialties like tuna cheek and black croaker sashimi, as well as hot dishes like fried oysters and fried burdock. The food came out quickly, so it's best to time your orders accordingly. Everything was homemade and delicious. We finished with a nostalgic dish of spaghetti with fried egg on top. The staff recommended their Chinese soba for next time, so I'll have to try that. There were quite a few solo diners, so I might come back alone next time.

Located near Komagome Station, I visited this place for the second time, this time alone. I started with a draft beer and a side of sesame-flavored butterbur. I decided to try the reasonably priced fresh tuna that they had that day, and it was delicious with a generous portion of lean meat. I also enjoyed their homemade potato salad, grilled eel liver, and added a hot sake. For dessert, I had a nostalgic Chinese-style ramen, which was surprisingly light and delicious. I would come back just for the Chinese-style ramen alone!

Today's drinking spot was in Komagome. The first choice was Yakitori Don, but the group I was with had just been there yesterday, so we decided to find another place. After searching on Tabelog, we settled on Taishu Sakagura Nihonkai for today! The exterior looked very casual (laughs). Personally, I like these kinds of places. It was 7 pm on a weekday, and the place was almost full of older salarymen coming from work. Could this place be a hidden gem? Looking at the drink menu, I saw that a large bottle of beer was only 420 yen. So cheap! Perfect for beer lovers. The food menu was so extensive that I had a hard time deciding. We ordered a sashimi platter, Mentaiko potato cheese, deep-fried cartilage, gizzard with ponzu sauce, and simmered dish. The sashimi platter with 6 kinds of fish was only 2000 yen. The Mentaiko potato cheese, deep-fried cartilage, and gizzard with ponzu sauce were all very generous portions. I can see why this place is popular. We also added on stuffed bell peppers, and eggplant curry cheese bake. Every dish we ordered this time was a hit. However, with so many items on the menu, there might be some disappointments as well (laughs). There are still more dishes I want to try, so I definitely want to come back here for the next Komagome drinking session! It's close to the station and has counter seats, so it seems like a great spot for a quick solo drink as well.

I visited the seafood izakaya "Taishu Sakagura Nihonkai Komagome" around 9 pm in December 2019. It is located just a 1-minute walk from Komagome Station. The cozy interior was about 70% full of customers, with many people dining alone. I ordered a large bottle of Super Dry beer for ¥420, which was a great price. The complimentary appetizer was a delicious tuna and onion salad with mayo. It paired well with the beer. I also tried the seafood sashimi platter for ¥580, which included yellowtail, tuna, salmon, octopus, squid, green onions, seaweed, and cucumber with plenty of vinegar miso dressing. The quality of the seafood was high, and the portion was satisfying. I also had the pork cutlet with grated daikon and ponzu for ¥450. It was served with a generous amount of shredded cabbage. Although the pork cutlet lacked juiciness, the price was reasonable. I then ordered a bottle of "Kyoto Tokuri Junmai Nigori Sake" for ¥480, which paired well with the seafood and cutlet. Overall, this izakaya near Komagome Station is a convenient place for solo dining and can also be used for group gatherings. I will definitely visit again in the future.

I will never forget the popular sake brewery Nihonkai. A friend from Vietnam visited and we reminisced in Komagome. The menu at Nihonkai is great. We started with a sashimi platter! The bluefin tuna was amazing. It's wild-caught! Both the appearance and taste were outstanding. The perfect balance of acidity and the richness of the medium fatty tuna was wonderful. The salmon was also incredibly delicious. Despite being salmon, it wasn't overly fatty, instead, it had a great texture and a refreshing richness that made it very easy to eat. Also, we tried sautéed cuttlefish mixed with squid ink and butter! High in calories!! Furthermore, we dipped it in mayonnaise! High in calories!! But high-calorie foods are so tasty, right? We ended up drinking too much and I lost my smartphone. I couldn't use Eat Log, LINE, and other apps for about a month. So sad!

JR Komagome Station is a nearby izakaya. The restaurant is located in the basement of a building and has a typical casual pub atmosphere, with counter seats, table seats, and a raised seating area. The name of the restaurant is "Nihonkai," not to be confused with "Nihonkai Shoya." While it appears to be a chain restaurant, the kitchen is manned by an elderly man who looks like a skilled artisan. The service is provided by foreign part-time staff and gives off a vibe of a privately owned establishment. The menu also has a personal touch, with handwritten daily recommendations ranging from seasonal dishes like ginnan yaki to typical izakaya fare, all priced around 500 yen. We tried the following dishes:
- Spinach ohitashi (250 yen + tax)
- Sashimi platter with 3 types of fish (1,200 yen + tax)
- Ginnan yaki (380 yen + tax)
- Garlic cheese grill (480 yen + tax)
- Asari sake steamed (480 yen + tax)
- Mushroom and bacon butter stir-fry (450 yen + tax)
- Chanja (380 yen + tax)
- Fried oysters (400 yen + tax)
For drinks, we had:
- Draft beer, medium size (480 yen + tax)
- Large bottle of beer (420 yen + tax)
- Hoppy set, black (450 yen + tax)
- Hoppy set, red (550 yen + tax)
The prices for drinks were reasonable, and the selection was good for a casual pub. The food quality varied, but if you find the right dishes, it can be a good value. This izakaya is more suited for drinking than dining.

This place offers great value for money. The Showa-era izakaya atmosphere is delightful. The menu on the wall and the whiteboard with daily recommendations added to the excitement. We enjoyed eating and drinking together, trying various dishes.

Due to the state of emergency during the COVID-19 pandemic, alcohol is not served during lunch hours. The ginger pork set meal costs 850 yen and comes with coffee. The taste and portion size were very satisfying. Thank you for the meal.

Bottled beer (large) is 420 yen! The sashimi is high quality. Other dishes are also delicious and come in large portions that go well with alcohol. The interior of the restaurant is calming and clean. A great place to eat.
