I made a reservation for lunch at this restaurant based on the recommendation from Mairebi-sama. Both my friend and I have small appetites, so we requested smaller portions. The photo shows about 2/3 of the normal amount. The staff, consisting of 6 people, worked efficiently, and the chef handled cooking while answering constant reservation calls. The restaurant's popularity was evident. The seasonal fish tasting plate showcased 6 different types of fish, each with its unique flavor, and the cream croquette was exceptionally delicious. A wasabi Tabasco-like sauce (available for purchase) was also tasty. The homemade rosemary-flavored spring onion sauce on the large mountain chicken breast ham was moist and refreshing. The spaghetti with seafood and zucchini in tomato sauce was a classic Italian dish. The sautéed saury fish had a rich sauce with a hint of fish broth. The Kyoto-style tonkatsu with Japanese pepper vinegar sauce made from Kyoto pork was a delightful choice. For dessert, we could choose from 3 options, and I selected the hojicha semifreddo, which was light and refreshing. I ended the meal with a cup of coffee. Overall, the restaurant offered simple and hearty dishes. Although we requested smaller portions, the regular servings would be quite generous. The chef was friendly and the recommendation was spot on, making it a satisfying dining experience.

I used it for lunch on a holiday. I made a reservation on the same day, but I was able to reserve at the desired time. It's a very popular restaurant, so I think I was just lucky. The cost performance is quite good. I had a beer and spent 3,500 yen alone. The taste was good and satisfying, but the counter on the first floor was crowded with many customers, so it didn't feel very relaxing. I would rate it 3.5 out of 5.

I visited the restaurant on top of the mountain, Western Food Ogata, or the shop of Chef Noro, who also trained in Italy. It's a delicious and quaint place where you can enjoy yourself without feeling too formal. I made a reservation for 11:30 on a holiday. Those without reservations were turned away, so it's safer to make a reservation. [Food Ordered] Lunch Set ¥1980 Pasta +¥1000 Everything was well-prepared and delicious! The portions are generous, so you may want to consider whether to add dessert or not. I added pasta once, and it filled me up more than expected. For the content provided, ¥1980 is very reasonable. However, I have some thoughts on the service. When my companion asked if they could change a disliked ingredient in their order, the response was a bit emotional and seemed unnecessary. Eventually, Chef Noro, who overheard the conversation, offered an alternative and the issue was resolved. Chef Noro is very gentle and humble. Even during lunch, he personally handles all the main dishes and even takes care of the bill and sees off customers until they are out of sight. However, the apprentices may have a slightly different vibe. One thing that really disappointed me was the timing of serving the dishes. The rice arrived first, even though we hadn't eaten anything, and the main dish came 7-8 minutes later. By then, the rice had completely cooled down. This was a major letdown. Despite the negatives, I am satisfied for ¥1980. Thank you for the meal!

★Located near Rokujyo Castle. ★Atmosphere with table seating on the 2nd floor. Bright and cheerful. ★Taste: I had the 4,500 yen lunch course. Everything I tried was delicious♡ I especially enjoyed the fish appetizer tasting and the pasta with firefly squid and white asparagus.

I had been curious about this restaurant for a while, so I made a reservation and went. I ordered the menchi katsu lunch set, which came with soup, salad, menchi katsu, rice or bread, and a drink after the meal. It was enough to fill me up. The menchi katsu was served with demiglace and balsamic sauce, which was definitely unique. Honestly, it didn't blow me away as much as I had expected, but overall the quality of the soup and salad was good. Maybe I was just not fully focused on the meal. I'm sorry. The service was excellent. Considering the quality of the salad, it might be better to go in the evening.

I went to a sister restaurant of my favorite Western-style restaurant. They are famous for their menchi-katsu lunch. I opted for the luxurious course lunch where they served fish, meat, and pasta. Everything was delicious, including the famous menchi-katsu. I was stuffed by the end of the meal. The restaurant was full of groups of women having a girls' night out.

I chose the lunch course for 4500 yen because I found the various options a bit troublesome. It was really delicious! The first fish appetizer, carpaccio, was also delicious! I asked for wasabi oil, and when I poured it on, it added a nice kick and made it even more delicious. My favorite was the pork steak! The minced cutlet I got from my family was also delicious, but the pork was the winner. The dessert was a Bloody Orange Pudding! It was also delicious with a new taste, but it was a bit thin (lol). I wanted a bit more.

A few months ago, I visited this restaurant and enjoyed a delicious lunch course. Each dish was tasty and took over an hour to be served from start to main course, allowing me to leisurely enjoy my meal. The specialty Menchi Katsu was particularly delicious, with the hamburger itself being tasty and the frying adding a unique flavor. The chef was friendly when I spoke with them before leaving. I look forward to coming back for dinner next time.

This popular restaurant requires reservations. As a result, we were guided to a room in the neighboring building. I had the course featuring the famous minced cutlet. I used to think minced cutlets were greasy, but the ones here had a solid meaty texture and weren't oily at all. It was a stylish minced cutlet with demiglace sauce. The bill was settled back in the main building. There was also a bicycle parking area in the back. Thank you for the delicious meal.

It was delicious. I was worried because I'm not a fan of heavy dishes and don't usually eat this type of cuisine, but it wasn't too heavy and I was able to enjoy it without leaving any behind. Sitting at the counter allowed me to see the chefs in action, which was great. Personally, I really liked the pasta and dessert.

Located a 5-7 minute walk from Nijo Station, Italian Ristorante Noro is a popular restaurant known for its unique specialty dish, Menchi Katsu. It was selected as one of the top 100 Italian restaurants in the west in 2021. The restaurant offers counter seats on the first floor and table seats on the second floor, making it suitable for both solo diners and large groups. We tried the Menchi Katsu course at Ristorante Noro, with an additional pasta dish. The menu offers a variety of course options at different price points, allowing you to choose according to your appetite. The Shirasu and Shiso tomato pasta, incorporating a touch of Japanese essence, was light and easy to eat, complementing bread perfectly. The main dish, Menchi Katsu, was juicy and flavorful when cut open, enhanced by the demi-glace sauce, balsamic vinegar, and fresh parsley. The Italian course menu at Ristorante Noro offers generous portions, so be sure to visit and enjoy a delicious meal. Bon appétit!

There is a very stylish Western-style Italian restaurant in Kyoto. My favorite Western-style restaurant is located near Nijo Castle, but this time I found another one near Nijo Station. This place is a Western-style Italian restaurant. The townhouse-style exterior is a typical Kyoto restaurant, with a lively counter and reserved seats. The lunch menu is quite reasonable, with the specialty menchi-katsu set priced at 2200 yen, including soup and salad. I went with a friend, and one of us chose the fish fry lunch set for 1800 yen. The soup is a gentle tasting Seigoin kabura soup that is comforting and delicious. The salad includes carrot marinade, saffron potato salad, and spinach, a nutritious and perfectly balanced salad with no shortcuts. The tartar sauce is flavorful, and the swordfish fry and cream croquette are satisfying. Mashed potatoes are also served, which is a nice touch. The signature menchi-katsu with demi-glace sauce is also authentically delicious. They also serve baguette and butter. Desserts are available at an additional cost of 500 yen each, including panna cotta and orange sauce pudding, adding to the satisfaction of the delicious lunch. I thought the chef who was cooking at the counter with several assistants might be the chef, but when I tried to say goodbye, the chef was nowhere to be seen. Disappointed, as we were leaving, the chef suddenly appeared from the back door and politely thanked us for choosing their restaurant. "Thank you for choosing us from the many restaurants available." His words were heartwarming. "No, thank you for choosing this place from the many options available!" I would like to try their pasta and other dishes for dinner next time.

Located within a 10-minute walk from Nijo Station, this Italian restaurant is labeled as a "ristorante," but it has a modern and stylish open kitchen with a calm atmosphere, resembling a traditional Japanese restaurant. Although I had hoped to visit for dinner, due to the schedule of my companion, we went for lunch instead. I thought we would opt for the lunch course, but being able to choose between a course or a set on the spot was very helpful. For the lunch course, we started with a seasonal assortment of fish and other appetizers. The variety and quantity were impressive, almost like a main course. Each dish was skillfully prepared, and it went well with drinks. Next was a salad with moist chicken ham, which was delicious. Then came the pasta with shrimp, tomatoes, and whitebait. The combination was exquisite! The main dish was fish, with a crispy skin and tender flesh. When eaten with the seafood soup, it was outstanding. The meat main dish was a mini minced cutlet with a thick sauce. Finally, we had amaretto panna cotta for dessert, which was rich and creamy. The meal was accompanied by coffee. This lunch course was truly a valuable experience. Although there was no a la carte menu for dinner, being able to savor the delicate dishes from this restaurant in small portions was a luxurious treat. I look forward to visiting for dinner next time. Thank you for the wonderful meal!

Now, let's talk about Kyoto. For lunch this time, I went to Ristorante Noro and ordered the 4500 yen lunch course. I enjoyed a variety of fresh fish dishes, including a comparison of seasonal fish, seafood and avocado tartare, smoked croquette of gurnard, bonito, yellowtail, marinated sea bream, and konoshiro. Each dish was prepared in different ways and seasoned perfectly, allowing us to savor the freshness of the fish. This alone was enough to enjoy two glasses of draft beer. The homemade rosemary-flavored scallion sauce served with Oyama jidori chicken breast ham was a well-balanced and delicious dish that went well with alcohol. The spaghetti with kettle-boiled whitebait, smoked scallop, and eggplant in tomato sauce was also outstanding, with a chewy texture. The Kochi-sourced sea bream Vapour soup was rich in flavor and a delight to the taste buds. The meatball cutlets with demiglace and balsamic sauce were exceptional, reminiscent of the chef's training background. For dessert, you can choose between amaretto panna cotta, hojicha semifreddo, and blood orange pudding. All this, including five dishes, dessert, and coffee, for 4500 yen. The cost performance is outstanding. Thank you for the delicious meal.

Kyoto - Nijo Kyoto - Nijo Menchikatsu is a specialty Italian restaurant. It is known for its cost-effective lunch options. However, I went there for dinner with my junior colleague. I was impressed by the various fish dishes! We enjoyed everything and finished our meal smoothly. We had: - Cold puree of peaches and tomatoes - Tasting of seasonal fish - Involtini of Oyama chicken - Sauteed medai fish in anchovy-scented soup - Menchikatsu from Ristorante Noro - Roasted Kyoto duck breast - Spaghetti with crab and shrimp in tomato cream sauce - Dessert. #KyotoGourmet #NijoGourmet #KyotoDinner #NijoDinner #RistoranteNoro #HighlyRatedOnTabelog #TabelogTop100 #TabelogRating3.5AndAbove #TabelogTop1002021 #TripAbroad #Kyoto #KyotoGourmet #Nijo #NijoGourmet #JapanGourmet #JapaneseGourmet #JapaneseItalian #FoodiesUnite #TeamJP #FoodLoversUnite #KyotoItalian #Delicious #LifeInJapan #ThisIsJapan #InstagramJapan #DiscoverJapan #DiscoverKyoto #UnknownJapan #JapanAdventures

On the second day of my one-night trip to Kyoto, I had lunch here. I made a reservation two weeks in advance based on a friend's recommendation. It's a sister restaurant of "Western Food Ogata." I visited after shopping at Nishiki Market. This time, I sat on the second floor. I had the Menchi Katsu set at Ristorante Noro for 2,200 yen, which included: Seasonal vegetable soup, Spaghetti with boiled shirasu and Kujo green onions in tomato sauce (additional 1,100 yen), Menchi Katsu with demi-glace balsamic sauce, Rice or bread, and Coffee. The meal started with pumpkin soup, followed by a green salad with carrot rapé and potato salad. The pasta had a light tomato sauce. The main dish, Menchi Katsu, was a large, juicy, and tender specialty item with a light and refreshing sauce. It's easy to see why it's popular. There were no other notable dishes, and I was so full from the Menchi Katsu that I skipped dessert. I had a glass of draft beer and a double Montepulciano d'Abruzzo. The only downside was sitting on the second floor; I should have chosen a counter seat.

Visited on a regular night. I called at 6:30 pm to inquire if I could make a reservation for 7:30 pm, and was told that they would know around 7 pm. I called again and was able to make a reservation for the desired time. I opted for dishes a la carte rather than a set course menu. - Appetizer: Chilled puree soup of peach and tomato. Rich and flavorful, with a seasoning that brings out the taste of the ingredients, but I'm not sure if peach and tomato go well together. - Yellowtail seared with rosemary. The thick, fatty yellowtail is lightly seared to enhance its aroma, complemented by a savory scallion sauce. The refreshing taste of the yellowtail with the flavorful scallion sauce is delicious. Served with myoga, scallion, and herbs. A gentle and mild flavor. - Lightly sautéed black clams and mushrooms with anchovy butter. The butter is delicious, with various mushrooms and clams adding depth to the broth. The black clams become more flavorful as you chew. The parsley flavor stands out with the combined effect of each ingredient. Another gentle and satisfying dish. - Menchi katsu with demiglace balsamic sauce. The hot and crispy croquette with a sauce of demiglace richness and balsamic acidity is just right. The rich sauce is not heavy. The luxurious flavor of the menchi is delightful. The use of a large amount of onions in the demiglace sauce prevents it from becoming heavy. - Classic carbonara with Kyoto Noko tamago. The carbonara sauce has a rich and sweet flavor of eggs, coating the pasta well. Surprisingly easy to eat, allowing you to taste the rich flavor throughout your tongue. Rich but not cloying. The saltiness, cheese, and pepper are subtle, highlighting the sweetness of the eggs. The slightly firm pasta was also to my liking. The red hue of the carbonara is visually appealing. The chef, Mr. Noro, even rode his bike to catch up with me as I was leaving the restaurant to say goodbye. His warm personality is reflected in the warm and refined dishes he creates. A unique Italian restaurant among the top 100 in Italy, combining the warmth of home cooking with the sophistication of a top chef. The total bill was 7780 yen. Thank you for the meal.

I made a reservation at "Ichinoden" as soon as my Kyoto trip was decided for 2022. The motivation to visit this restaurant was because I had a wonderful experience at "Yoshoku Ogata" during my last trip to Kyoto, and I wanted to try this sister restaurant as well. The fact that my favorite "Kahou" is right next door also pushed me to visit. When we arrived for lunch, we were guided to the second floor where there were two tables. Compared to the lively counter seats on the first floor, the second floor felt a bit more secluded. My wife and mother-in-law ordered the lunch set for 1,980 yen each with dessert, while I opted for the signature menu item listed below: - Listrante Noro's Menchi Katsu Set for 2,420 yen (including tax) - Dessert for 550 yen - Soup: Carrot cold potage soup with a natural sweetness of carrots, giving it a healthy feel. - Salad: A generous green salad with sweet potato potato salad and carrot rape on the side, each item was carefully made and delicious. - Menchi Katsu: A substantial size menchi katsu that was juicy. The sauce had a slight acidity to it, not as rich as it looks, and refreshing. - Dessert: I had the hojicha semifreddo, which wasn't too strong in hojicha flavor but had nuts and chocolate, very delicious. The other two ordered amaretto panna cotta and blood orange pudding, which we shared, and they were all tasty. Dessert is a must-have. - Coffee: Ended the meal with a strong and delicious Italian blend coffee. For the price, this Western-style lunch offered a satisfying volume and quality. The service was polite and attentive, with the chef even coming out to greet us at the end. If you plan to visit Nijo Castle, this is a recommended restaurant for lunch.

The counter seats are spacious and you don't have to worry about the person next to you. Even though it's a counter, I was able to relax! The atmosphere is great too. The staff, all male, were very friendly. The menu was a bit hard to read, but when I asked, they kindly explained everything. The dishes were all easy to eat and delicious!! I will definitely go back.
