I visited this shop known for its famous grape bread at Yushima. The grape bread comes in two sizes, small for ¥550 and large for ¥850. It's a special bread with plenty of raisins stuffed into a slightly small-sized loaf of bread. When I was about to buy it, the staff recommended, "Today we have a special Kyoho grape bread that is only available on Tuesdays, Fridays, and Saturdays." Even though today was not one of those days, they were able to specially source Kyoho raisins and baked only 4 loaves! The price was a whopping ¥1900!! It was expensive, and I hesitated for a moment, but the staff kindly suggested, "It's pricey, but think of it as buying a cake and give it a try." It didn't feel pushy at all, but rather a genuine recommendation to try something delicious. So, I bought it along with the limited edition "Chestnut Collaboration Anpan" for ¥380. When I held the grape bread, it was surprisingly heavy for a loaf of bread! I took it home and toasted it lightly. Inside, it was packed with Kyoho raisins! Although it didn't taste exactly like Kyoho grapes, the raisins were more juicy than usual and had a faint Kyoho aroma. The natural yeast bread dough was also dense and satisfying. What I liked even more was the "Chestnut Collaboration Anpan"! It had a cupcake-like shape with white bean paste, Kyoho raisins, walnuts, and chestnuts inside. The raisins and walnuts were mixed into the white bean paste, and there was a candied chestnut on top, creating an interesting combination of flavors. Despite seeming like an odd mix, the ingredients went well together, offering various tastes and textures that were enjoyable and delicious! This shop used to be a cafe, judging from its interior, but now it has transformed into a full-fledged bakery with bread and tools on display. Aside from grape bread, they also have various sweet and savory bread. There aren't many bakeries around Yushima, so this shop is quite valuable in that sense.
