Today, I met up with a former colleague in Tachikawa for lunch and a movie. We left the restaurant choice up to them. It's hot outside, but relatively cool compared to other days this summer. Even though it's 32 degrees, it feels cool. We're heading to a restaurant called "Asia" which mainly serves Southeast Asian cuisine. I ordered the curry ramen and iced coffee from the lunch menu. The salad came first, with a strong coriander flavor which I'm not a fan of, but I can handle a little bit. Next came the curry ramen, which tasted just like the Thai dish I had before - delicious! The restaurant is relatively quiet and a bit pricey, but the iced coffee was good. It's a hidden gem!

Lunch on August 5, 2023 (Saturday) with my partner. We had work in Murayama in the afternoon. For lunch today, we went to Tachikawa. We went to the 9th floor of Takashimaya and tried this restaurant that we had never been to before. It seems like this restaurant opened on May 1st this year. We ordered the Gapaorad Kao (Gapao Rice) (1350 yen) and the Papon Curry Rad Kao (Curry Stir-Fried Rice with Egg) (1550 yen) from the affordable lunch menu. Basically, you order by scanning the QR code with your smartphone, but in a common situation, the dish names on the table and on the smartphone menu didn't match, so we ordered directly from the staff. The Gapao Rice had flavorful chicken and basil, with a good level of spiciness, and it was delicious. The Papon Curry Rice had shrimp, squid, scallops, and a flavorful curry, and it was also delicious. The total bill was 2900 yen. They also have branches in Kagurazaka and Shiodome. It's currently not too crowded, so I recommend this place.

I visited the restaurant "Asian Tawan168 Tachikawa Takashimaya Store" for lunch in late May, just a few minutes' walk from JR Tachikawa Station North Exit along Sansan Road on the 9th floor of Tachikawa Takashimaya. The newly opened restaurant in May has a sophisticated and calm atmosphere with a total of 74 seats at table seats. I sat at a 4-seater table. Orders are placed using a QR code on the table. The lunch menu includes Thai curries, noodles, and rice dishes, with a total of 9 options. On this day, I ordered the "Kuitti Ao Mu (pork rice noodles)" (1300 yen) with a chicken salad. The price for a Thai lunch seemed a bit high, possibly due to the fixed costs such as rent and labor costs at Takashimaya. The noodles arrived promptly. The noodles were white rice noodles with pork, green onions, bean sprouts, and cilantro. I added a dash of the 4 familiar Thai condiments "Kruang Prung" - "Prik Nam Pla (chili fish sauce)", "Prik Nam Som (chili vinegar)", and "Prik Pong (dried chili powder)" and enjoyed the unique smooth texture of the noodles. The hot and flavorful soup, along with the sweet pork, was delicious. I finished every last drop of the soup. It was a satisfying meal.
