After work, I stopped by Shinbashi for the first time in a while. My purpose was to visit Ushu-ya, a fishing equipment store in the New Shinbashi Building. I was going on a trip to the sea with my sister and her husband the next day, so I needed fishing gear. However, the New Shinbashi Building, where Ushu-ya is located on the 2nd floor, is in a very erotic area, and with my mental age still in my teens, I quickly fled after finishing my shopping. Feeling disgusted, I escaped, but outside was a tropical night with temperatures over 30℃. I thought about having a meal and heading home, and decided to try this restaurant that I was curious about. "Heso" is a standing bar that has several branches on the west side of Shinbashi. I found out that "Heso" had opened a restaurant serving town Chinese cuisine. It was located near SL Square, with the entrance to the restaurant at the back of the corner where they sell meat buns for takeout. There was a flashy digital signboard facing the street, with set menus for ramen and dumplings displayed, making me think I could just have a meal and leave, but upon entering, it was just a standing bar. While they did have Chinese menu items like ramen, fried rice, and mapo tofu, they were only available as individual items, and the only set menu was for drinking. I lost my motivation all at once and unconsciously chose the assorted appetizer set tax-included 1078 yen from the drink set menu. I chose a highball as my drink, but looking back now, it was a mistake. A dish was served before the assorted appetizer set, which was described as coming with one dish. It was a cold Chinese-style pate in a small dish. It wasn't delicious. The assorted appetizer set arrived. It was different from the photo. Instead of kimchi, there was an excessively salty shredded tofu-like dish. The cold and tough chashu, and the overly salty and excessive menma. It wasn't delicious. I didn't want to order anything else. The highball didn't have much in it, but I didn't want a refill. I really hated the cigarette smoke from the next table. I wanted to leave quickly. I couldn't leave food uneaten due to a trauma from my childhood. I endured and ate, then paid the bill. The Nepalese-looking master asked the waitress, "Is this correct?" When I checked, it was not 1078 yen but 1188 yen. I thought it was a mistake, but the highball had a 100 yen surcharge. Yes, that's correct. I only had one drink. I left. I won't come back again. I remembered. I had a bad experience at Heso before. I won't repeat it. There are people who eagerly jump on trends. But things like Neo-popular bars, family-style, Jiro-style, town Chinese-style, it's impossible. Especially town Chinese, you need a long history in the business. I can't forgive those who try to imitate them. I can't forgive myself for entering. I was left feeling very emotional and exhausted from the intense heat, and I was completely worn out.
