It is owned by the same company as Sukiya. While the McDonald's next door always has a line even after lunchtime, Hanaya Yobei has no waiting time. The prices are not overly expensive, so it's surprisingly a good hidden gem. Oku Station is conveniently located next to Ueno Station. Although the rapid trains do not stop there... Oku Station has a large train depot, and you can see the depot and the sky from the large windows while dining. The evening sky and trains running through the depot make for a great view. I ordered my favorite tempura udon this time: Cold shrimp tempura with grated daikon udon for 990 yen (excluding tax), a drink bar for 280 yen (excluding tax), and matcha ice cream for 250 yen (excluding tax). While enjoying a drink from the drink bar, I thought matcha ice cream would go well with it, so I ordered it. Indeed, warm green tea and cold ice cream complement each other very well. Ordering green tea ice cream was the right choice. There are many dishes on the menu at Hanaya Yobei that I like, so I've been wanting to go there for a while. It's located in a place where I have to take a train from my nearest station, so it took some effort to finally go there today. I had heard about it for a long time, but the Hanaya Yobei near my parents' house has finally closed down. When I visited my hometown on a holiday this year, my parents suggested going out to eat, and I mentioned Hanaya Yobei nearby, only to find out for the first time that it had closed down. The restaurant has a parking lot on the first floor and an elevator to the second floor, making it convenient for my mother, who has trouble walking. My mother chose her favorite dishes, and I decided to finish the rest. I ordered "Nabe Yaki Udon ¥979" and "Ko Tendon ¥429" for myself, while my mother ordered "Aburi Unamabushi Don ¥979" and "Chawanmushi ¥209". The food was ready in about 15 minutes. The "Nabe Yaki Udon" was served in a large pot with solid fuel underneath to keep it hot. Quite impressive for a family restaurant. The "Ko Tendon" was decent. The "Aburi Unamabushi Don" was served with finely chopped eel, eaten as it is or as ochazuke with dashi. The taste was average for a family restaurant. Eel might not be appealing if you're used to eating it at renowned eel restaurants, but I tried it since my mother left half of it. It was okay, but not something I would crave as eel. I wish I could take my mother to a top eel restaurant nearby, but unfortunately, there isn't one. Nevertheless, my mother seemed satisfied with her favorite "Chawanmushi," which was a relief. I wonder how many more years I will be able to have meals with my mother. Once she feels better, I'll take her out for meals with her children again! For now, we had a comforting meal. I visited the Japanese restaurant "Kanaya Yubei Oku Branch" around 5 pm on a certain day in April 2021. It is located about a 2-minute walk from Oku Station. I went there for dinner. The spacious restaurant was about 30% full. I sat at a table by myself and looked at the menu with photos. After some hesitation, I ordered the "Small Negi Toro Bowl Mankai Gozen" for ¥1,089. It was served after about 10 minutes. The small negi toro bowl came with soba, miso soup, pickles, tempura, salad, and chawanmushi. The set meal looked very elegant. I tried the salad, chawanmushi, and tempura first. It was nice to be able to enjoy the tempura with the dipping sauce. The tempura was crispy and seasoned just right. The negi toro bowl didn't have exceptionally fresh ingredients, but the smooth and sticky texture was comforting. It was nice to have the negi toro on top of shiso leaves. The soba didn't have any particular standout feature, but the balance between the not-so-strong broth and the noodles was good. I enjoyed the pickles and miso soup with the negi toro bowl. I had wanted to enjoy it with some alcohol, but I was busy with work, so I just had the meal. By using an app to get a coupon, you can eat at "Kanaya Yubei" at a good price. It's a good place to enjoy a quiet meal in a calm atmosphere.

It's been a while since I've been to a family restaurant, but the atmosphere is really warm and inviting for family restaurant lovers. There seems to be quite a bit of people coming and going, so it seems like a popular place. The drink bar was also cozy and delicious! There were many unique flavors like matcha and chocolate.

During the summer, the udon and soba in the set menu were cold, so it was hard to tell. But during the winter, on a few occasions, the udon and soba in the set menu were lukewarm, which was disappointing for my family. It was delicious, but it's a shame. We have decided to stop going there.
