Traditional Chinese cuisine in Japan is definitely from "Guangdong". The restaurant was beautiful inside. It's a bit difficult to call it a "Gion" since it's located east of Higashiyama Street, north of Chion-in Temple entrance. It's east of Furukawa Shopping Street. Surrounded by Kimura's large peacock mural, families, relatives, and friends gathered around the table. We shared various Chinese dishes from large plates and enjoyed a peaceful and pleasant meal together. The course is available at night starting from 3,300 yen, with increments of 1,100 yen. This time, we ordered a la carte. The spring rolls had a unique shape, resembling a crepe with lots of egg, and filled with bamboo shoots. We also had dishes like mixed vegetables, stir-fried bell peppers and beef (with a more formal name). Every dish was carefully prepared and very delicious. The family next to us received shrimp tempura for their private party. It looked appetizing with the white, crispy coating. I'll challenge that next time.

It was a great experience to visit a restaurant recommended by a local, where I tried representative dishes of Kyoto-style Chinese cuisine. The meal included sand gizzard tempura, chicken and leek salad with shredded jellyfish, steamed clams and golden eye snapper, spring rolls, pork tempura, and crab and eggplant soba. The flavors were gentle and not too light, with just the right amount of seasoning. The mustard soy sauce complemented the dishes well. Although the mustard soba was not on the menu, they kindly prepared it for me as a special request. It was a delightful evening, and I look forward to visiting again in the future.

I found this Chinese restaurant in Kyoto while searching for one. I always like to order jellyfish as an appetizer, and I think jellyfish dishes can vary a lot from one restaurant to another. They come in different shapes and seasonings. The jellyfish here had a light and refreshing taste.

Just before 1 o'clock on Sunday. I entered on a whim and was lucky enough to get a table in the corner. It was probably good timing to go just after lunchtime. I ordered a bento box with a variety of items. Looking around, it seemed like all the other customers were also ordering bento boxes. The crab cakes, sweet and sour pork, and spring rolls all had a strong flavor but with an elegant Kyoto-style taste. It's difficult to try a variety of dishes when dining alone at a Chinese restaurant, but with a bento box, I could enjoy a variety of flavors which was nice. The wall paintings were by Hideki Kimura. His dynamic and colorful style was very impressive. I have several of his patterned hand towels, but seeing his artwork covering the entire wall really conveyed the dynamic nature of his work and was wonderful.

Near Keage Station in Higashiyama, Kyoto, there is a restaurant called "Gion Morisachi" that serves Cantonese cuisine. The interior of the restaurant is calm and the wall with a peacock design is quite impressive. They offer a special bento box for 1200 yen, which includes spring rolls, small shrimp tempura, crab omelette, sweet and sour pork, grilled pork, and rice in a multi-tiered box (with soup). It's a lunch full of happiness with delicious dishes that you can enjoy little by little.

For a small celebration, my boss made a reservation at a lovely restaurant. It was lunchtime, but we had a course meal. Everything was delicious! Elegant, with just the right amount of spice, not too heavy. Ah, truly a wonderful restaurant in Kyoto. In particular, the refined spiciness of the mapo tofu is a must-try. I will definitely visit again. Thank you for the meal.

Visited the long-established Chinese restaurant "Mori Sachi," founded in 1955. A renowned restaurant in Kyoto that leads the town's Chinese cuisine scene and is often featured in the media. - Spring Rolls: Kyoto-style spring rolls with a thick, chewy texture similar to yuba, aburaage, or crepe, filled with plenty of bamboo shoots. Surprisingly not crispy like regular spring rolls, but light and quite enjoyable. - Large Shrimp Tempura: A specialty dish. The shrimp seems to be boiled before being fried, with a generous coating of batter but a light flavor. - Shrimp Gyoza: Simple yet delicious, with a savory aftertaste that combines the flavors of shrimp and Chinese cuisine. - Tofu and Mixed Vegetable Stew: Similar to "hakko-sai," with fried tofu that is chewy and tasty. - Black Vinegar Soy Sauce Chicken: A crispy fried chicken dish drizzled with black vinegar for a refreshing flavor. - Lettuce Fried Rice: Delicious. Someone once said, "While crispy fried rice is popular, a moist texture is better," and this dish embodies that. - Almond Tofu: A surprising delight. Smooth with a subtle almond aroma, not artificial-tasting, and with a strong milk flavor. It was really good. There are other menu items I'm curious about, so I'll definitely visit again.

A 3-day trip to the Tango Peninsula and Amanohashidate was planned, with the main focus on Matsuba crab, but skipping through the streets of Kyoto was not an option. The plan was to end the trip with Chinese cuisine in Kyoto, but without a reservation in advance due to uncertainty about our appetite. While heading to Kyoto from Nishi-Maizuru Station where we got off the Kuromatsu bus, we started looking for a place to eat. We wanted to try the spring rolls and shumai from the Houbu series, but also needed to consider our schedule to return to Tokyo, so we preferred places where reservations were not required. After making a phone call to this restaurant, we were informed that a reservation would be possible if we arrived slightly after 6 pm. Despite the short stay of less than an hour, we were grateful for their proactive attitude. To make the most of our short visit, we placed our orders for dine-in and takeout over the phone in advance. The spring rolls, filled with plenty of bamboo shoots, were a must-have dish that we love but can only enjoy in Kyoto. However, the skin was a bit more floury than eggy, so it didn't quite make it to the top of our list. The standout dish we tried at the restaurant was the steamed spring rolls with small shrimp! It resembled cheung fun, but with less skin and a refined taste, truly showcasing Kyoto's elegance. Another must-have from the Houbu series was the shumai. We decided to take this dish home to enjoy the next day by steaming it. Although it was slightly different from what we had at the restaurant, it lacked a bit of impact. This may be due to the small size of the bamboo shoots and the chives. Despite the hustle and bustle, we were able to try a variety of dishes and had a very satisfying end to our trip. The only regret was forgetting to try the crab meat and egg custard, a signature dish that we missed out on. According to reviews, the onion was supposed to add an extra touch. We'll make sure to try it next time. Thank you for the wonderful meal.

I didn't realize there was a great Cantonese restaurant called Gion Morisachi that I often passed through the shopping street from Higashiyama on the subway Tozai Line to Furukawacho. I visited during lunchtime without a reservation, but managed to secure a seat by promising to finish eating by 1 pm. The spring rolls are a must-try, with a fluffy outer layer and plenty of filling, they are light and delicious. The yakisoba also has a refreshing sauce that is tasty, and it is also filled with plenty of ingredients. The bento box had a balanced mix of crab omelet, shrimp tempura, spring rolls, and grilled pork. The rice was topped with Kyoto-style shredded yuzu pepper.

This is a long-established Cantonese cuisine restaurant. I heard "Delicious and cheap! Above all, there is no disappointment" and decided to go. It was the right choice. Looking at the dishes around me, they all looked delicious. We had a la carte dishes such as cream stewed scallops, stir-fried beef with finely chopped bell peppers, and fried rice. Of course, they also offer course meals. It was exquisite. It has been getting more media attention lately, so I recommend making a reservation.

The restaurant is located a little away from Gion, but as I approached it with the help of navigation, I found it along the Shirakawa River. It was a bit surprising to see the restaurant located there. The atmosphere inside the restaurant is reminiscent of a dining establishment in Gion or Kamishichiken, with a feeling that geisha could be present. The interior is not luxurious, with table and tatami seating available. Although you cannot see outside from the inside, when you leave the restaurant, you are greeted by the Shirakawa River, creating a precious feeling. I had the Morisachi special bento for 1200 yen and the daily lunch special for 900 yen, both of which were very reasonable. The bento included sweet and sour pork, spring rolls, small shrimp tempura, roast pork, and crab omelet, allowing you to enjoy a variety of dishes in one meal. The dishes had a Kyoto-style touch to them, and I felt like I was having a geisha's lunch. The color of the dishes was rich, and the overall presentation had a Kyoto-style feel. I wonder if Cantonese cuisine is the easiest to adapt to Kyoto-style in Chinese cuisine. Kyoto is really good at incorporating various genres into a Kyoto-style version. I am now curious to try other Chinese dishes with a Kyoto-style twist. The daily special with sweet and sour chicken was delicious. I would like to visit this restaurant again in the future.

This day was a work-related golf competition. After playing golf in Koto, Shiga, we visited this restaurant. When we arrived, it was full, and there was a beautiful lady who seemed like a former NHK announcer among the customers in this popular restaurant. We were seated in a raised tatami area and the banquet began. We ordered a variety of dishes to share. Each dish was delicious in a standard way. Compared to Taiwanese cuisine that we had the previous week, this Chinese cuisine seemed more delicate and suited to Japanese taste. The spring rolls were different from the usual ones, and I personally liked them. The Peking duck was also good! There were no overly unusual flavors, but each dish was well-prepared and tasty. Thank you for the meal.

I came to this restaurant before heading to the Kyocera Museum of Art for an event. I made a reservation for lunch, which was convenient. I also placed my order in advance. I ordered the Moriyuki Special Bento (1,200 yen) and a draft beer (660 yen). The top tier of the bento had a variety of side dishes, including spring rolls, shrimp tempura, sweet and sour pork, rolled omelette, and ham. The spring rolls were wrapped in egg, which I really like. The rice was a bit sticky, but went well with the dishes. The pork in the sweet and sour pork had a unique, meatball-like texture. The shrimp tempura had a light saltiness to it. Since it was a holiday afternoon, I also enjoyed a draft beer. It was a bustling day with group parties celebrating in the back tables and tatami rooms. Despite the busy atmosphere, the staff's service was excellent. After filling my stomach, it was a satisfying meal.

I used to go there before, but for a while I couldn't get a reservation, and I was wondering why. It turns out that it was featured on a certain TV show. The influence of TV is amazing. So, if they are media-savvy, feel free to post here. When you come here, you must try the spring rolls. They are delicious. The crunchy texture of the chopped bamboo shoots is irresistible. The crab omelette is light and the mapo tofu is served in a super hot stone pot. Everything is delicious. The timing of the dishes coming out is excellent. The staff carefully watches each table and doesn't just bring out the dishes all at once, but serves them at just the right timing. Thanks to this good timing, you can easily eat a considerable amount of food. The restaurant is located within walking distance from Yasaka Shrine and Heian Jingu, so it might be nice to stop by for lunch or dinner while sightseeing. Shirakawa also has a charming atmosphere. Thank you for the meal.

Today's special is the Morisachi special bento for 1200 yen, featuring sweet and sour meatballs. The bento includes egg and sweet and sour pork, thin omelette spring rolls, grilled pork, shrimp tempura, white rice with dried baby sardines and Japanese pepper, wakame seaweed soup, and a pot of tea. The overall taste is mild and gentle. The grilled pork is tender, juicy, and flavorful. The tea served in the pot is delicious and elegant. Thank you for the meal!

I started from Mujian-an and walked along the Shirakawa River towards Gion on the right bank. It was lunchtime, so I was able to enter the restaurant easily. I ordered the popular bento box and while waiting, I noticed that the restaurant was almost fully booked with mostly reserved customers. The Chinese-style bento box arrived in two tiers, typical of Kyoto. It included sweet and sour pork, spring rolls, roasted pork, crab omelette, and other classic Chinese dishes. It was delicious and enjoyable. I was lucky to get a table without a reservation, but it may be advisable to make one in advance. Thank you for the meal.

Along the river, there was a Chinese restaurant that didn't look like one. After finishing work in Kyoto, I headed to a certain Chinese restaurant in town, but heard it was a 2.5 to 3-hour wait, so I gave up. Instead, I went to this place that I had bookmarked before. I was seated at a table for two with a colleague. The lunch menu had options like: Mori Yuko Special Bento for 1200 yen and Mini Course for 2500 yen, which included dishes like drool chicken, winter melon soup, tofu skin-wrapped fried items, stir-fried squid and vegetables, and small shrimp with mango mayonnaise stir-fry. I chose the Mori Yuko Special Bento! After a while, a two-tiered bento box arrived! When I opened it, I saw that it was brown, probably because it's Chinese food. The rice was thinly spread with sesame sprinkled on top. The side dishes included shrimp tempura, spring rolls, egg, and sweet and sour pork or barbecue pork? The soup had a strong salty taste. Probably, the spring rolls are the specialty here. Finally made it here.
