I was wandering around looking for a place to have lunch and stumbled upon this restaurant. I arrived a little past 1:30 pm and there was only one other customer inside. It seems like they are still struggling due to the effects of COVID-19. I decided to order the fried chicken set meal for 800 yen. It was really nice to be able to have lunch for 800 yen around here! Personally, I found the portion size to be just right. The balance between vegetables and protein was good. The fried chicken had a nice seasoning and would go well with alcohol. You can choose the amount of rice you want, so men might prefer a medium or large serving. Also, the miso soup left a lasting impression on me! It was made with white miso, and had a gentle and subtle flavor that was really delicious.
<Side Note> When I finished my meal and went to pay, I realized I had forgotten my wallet and jokingly said, "Oops, I forgot my wallet!" I left my phone as collateral and went back to get my wallet. Thankfully, everything was fine and the staff warmly welcomed me back when I returned with my wallet. It was really delicious! Thank you for the meal. (´◡ฺ`)

This is an old-fashioned izakaya. I was walking around looking for other lunch options when I saw the sign "Lunch now available" and decided to stop by. The menu includes mapo tofu set meal, fried chicken set meal, curry rice for 800 yen. Grilled mackerel set meal for 900 yen, pork cutlet curry for 1100 yen, and more. I ordered the fried chicken set meal for 800 yen (tax included). It came with rice, miso soup, cold tofu, and pickles. The fried chicken pieces were small but well-cooked and crispy. The rice was a bit firm. It was a bit disappointing that the miso soup had the same tofu as the cold tofu, but overall, getting a set meal for 800 yen in this area is a good deal.

It's a casual izakaya for the common people.

When I was out drinking with my coworkers after work, my friend suddenly invited us to go eat katsudon! The place we went to was Ukatama Sakaba, located behind a club called E-Life. I'm not a fan of clubs, so I didn't go there. Ukatama Sakaba was open until 4 in the morning, so I wondered how late they were open as we entered. The atmosphere was a bit old-fashioned izakaya style. We sat at a table in the back while regulars sat at the counter. We ordered quite a bit of food, here is a summary:
- Appetizer: Today's appetizer was mackerel nanban-zuke. I love blue fish, so I was very happy with this.
- Katsudon: The katsudon was made with freshly fried pork cutlet, so we could enjoy the crispy coating. The sweet seasoning was to my liking, so this was also delicious.
- Chicken Tataki: The tataki had a good chewy texture made with thigh meat. The more you chew, the more flavor comes out. I think they used matured chicken instead of young chicken, which I also like.
- Fried Octopus: Octopus prices are high this year, so the portion was small, but it was freshly fried and delicious.
It had a typical izakaya vibe, but being located between Roppongi and Nishi-Azabu, it was quite unique. Personally, I think it would be nice to have a place like this in the middle of a pub crawl.
