It's been a while since I had okonomiyaki. The negiyaki and takoyaki were delicious. Especially the negi-takoyaki with shoyu broth base was excellent. However, the prices are a bit high. I always thought flour-based dishes were supposed to be filling and affordable, but hmm... it would be nice if it were a bit cheaper.

It was about a 20-minute wait on a weekend for two groups, which was a bit unfortunate. The dishes - Meatball Ramen, Akashiyaki, and Tonpei-yaki with mentaiko filling - were served quickly, which was helpful. The Meatball Ramen had shiso leaves in it, making it light and easy to eat. The portion sizes aren't huge, so sharing with others might be a good idea.

In a restaurant street, there was an okonomiyaki restaurant. Is it less crowded compared to other shops? I ordered the negiyaki modern. The amount of negi on it was more than expected, but the Kujyo negi didn't seem to stand out much. It's nice that each person gets their own teppan to cook on.

We felt like eating something light and came with 3 people. We had a salad, 6 takoyaki balls, modern-yaki, and okonomiyaki for a total of a little over 5000 yen. It's not cheap, but the food was consistently delicious and satisfying. The okonomiyaki was especially tasty, and the salad was unexpectedly good with plenty of ingredients like nuts, shrimp, and bacon. The takoyaki was also delicious, especially when cooked on the iron plate. This place is a hidden gem that you'll want to visit again.

"Bote" and return "Jyu" and bake. Established in 1946, an okonomiyaki restaurant in Osaka. As I mentioned before, in Tokyo okonomiyaki restaurants, there are some that do not serve white rice. It might be hard for people from the same generation in Kansai to accept. I used to order by saying, "Butatama, and white rice!" Some places offered okonomiyaki set meals or yakisoba set meals, where white rice was a must. As I reached the age to drink alcohol, discussions about health and stacking carbohydrates on top of carbohydrates began, but these discussions were all added later. The common people in Kansai used to eat okonomiyaki with white rice. At least around me in Uzumasa, Kyoto, that was the mainstream. This "Bote Jyu" menu includes a "rice set," which makes me happy. But when I think about it, maybe I didn't need miso soup or pickles. In other words, there was no need for it to be a "set." This time, when I asked at the checkout if they only have white rice, they said they do, so from next time, I will boldly say, "White rice, please" (laughs). "Osaka Mix Modern" (1,628 yen) + "Rice Set" (330 yen) + "Tulip Wings (2 pieces)" (528 yen) - as shown in the photo. Osaka Mix Modern includes pork kalbi, shrimp, and squid. Structurally, from the teppan side upwards, it consists of thin dough, bonito flakes, tempura scraps, cabbage, special salt, pork kalbi, shrimp, squid, special thick noodles, dashi, yakisoba sweet sauce, medium spicy sauce, pickled ginger, rolled omelette, secret sauce, white mayonnaise, and mustard. Additionally, it is topped with bonito flakes and seaweed. During the peak of the pandemic, bonito flakes and seaweed were ordered separately, but this time, they were standard table items as before. When you eat it, it naturally tastes delicious. If someone asks me how it is, I might say, "Of course, 'Senbo' or 'Bote Jyu' are expensive, so it's natural," but while eating, I am happy. The intense sauce flavor goes well with beer or should be enjoyed with white rice, I think. Eating okonomiyaki and gobbling up white rice. It feels good. Tulip. I've eaten Wang Shou's tulip before, but Bote Jyu's tulip is also quite good. It has a high-quality fried chicken flour vibe like Nisshin Seifun's. I went to Boteyu after a long time and was surprised to see that they had a wide variety of menu options. In addition to okonomiyaki, they also had items like kushiage and karaage, with a menu that was about 25 pages long, which was shocking. It seems like they have become more like a family restaurant. However, since I came to Boteyu, I mainly ordered okonomiyaki.

I had some business at Tobu in Ikebukuro and decided to go to a dinner place afterwards. I was looking around the restaurant area for an available spot and noticed Botenju, which had an open table, so I decided to give it a try. Unlike the type where there is a hot plate on the table, the food here is served already cooked. When I opened the menu, I was surprised by the wide variety of options. They had pork balls, takoyaki, Akashiyaki, tonpeiyaki, modern-yaki, Hiroshima-yaki, yakisoba, and many other dishes. It had a cafeteria-like vibe that seemed to cater to students. I wasn't sure about the difference between modern-yaki and Hiroshima-yaki, so I just chose randomly. I ordered beef tendon stew, tonpeiyaki, which had a stronger meat flavor than I expected, and Akashiyaki, which was more gooey than fluffy. The premium pork balls had plenty of green onions and a sunny-side-up egg. I also had scallion pancakes and takoyaki. This place is perfect for when you want to eat a variety of savory snacks with your drinks without worrying too much about the taste.

I have been curious about the difference between Kansai-style okonomiyaki and the okonomiyaki I usually eat. As someone born and raised in Tokyo, I love okonomiyaki and monjayaki, but I have always wondered how Kansai okonomiyaki differs from what I am used to. When I heard that "Boteyu" opened in Tobu Department Store in Ikebukuro, it must have been about five years ago. Finally, I had the opportunity to visit. I must say, it was delicious! However, umm... We used it as a family after the lunch peak had passed. We were seated immediately without any wait. It was nice to have a spacious seat at the edge. The staff was polite and gave us a very good impression. They had children's chairs and even warmed up baby food for us. Thank you! We ordered oyster butter soy sauce yakisoba, okonomiyaki, tonkotsu takoyaki, and assorted tempura (sauce and pickled ginger served separately). Even our one-year-old daughter was able to eat it well. She really enjoyed it. We also ordered some deep-fried skewers, which were grilled by the staff, reducing the risk of burns and minimizing the smell. The menu was very extensive, making us excited to try everything. My husband and I had a great time, feeling like a newlywed couple. There are other dishes we want to try, so we will definitely come back. The tonkotsu was fluffy and delicious. I apologize for not having any photos. Thank you for the meal.

There are many different types of dishes in Kansai, but my favorite is definitely okonomiyaki, which always makes me feel at ease. This time, I visited a well-known chain restaurant in Kansai, so I felt reassured. What really makes me feel at ease is not just the okonomiyaki, but also the "mixed juice" for some reason. It seems like this is truly a taste of Osaka. I also ordered a chu-hi without hesitation. I ordered several different types of okonomiyaki, and each one was filled with plenty of ingredients and was quite large. They were all delicious when eaten with sauce, green onions, and bonito flakes. It was a great opportunity to enjoy the taste of Kansai after a long time.

I ordered draft beer, pork and leek yakisoba, and 4 pieces of Akashiyaki at this famous okonomiyaki restaurant. I visited during lunchtime and was very satisfied with the taste. I wanted to eat Akashiyaki, so I ordered it separately instead of getting the lunch set with rice. Surprisingly, okonomiyaki and rice go well together. I don't have many opportunities to eat okonomiyaki, but knowing this restaurant makes it easier to visit.

The table is spacious and the chairs are comfortable to sit in. The interior of the restaurant has a calming atmosphere with black as the main color. We ordered pork yakisoba, modanyaki, and okonomiyaki with mochi. The sauce is sweet and thick, so it's best to eat it with a carbonated drink or a non-sweet carbonated beverage. It's very delicious.

Sometimes I feel a division in the "food culture". The world is said to have become more global. However, I wonder if it is truly global. Occasionally, I think that maybe we have not really achieved true global integration in terms of food culture. Mixing different culinary traditions can sometimes result in a loss of authenticity and flavor. For example, putting Kyoto's shichimi spice on Edo-style soba might not be the best match. I once had a disappointing experience drinking coffee in Paris right after eating sushi or gyudon. The global spread of food culture may still have a long way to go. In Tokyo, it's surprising how many okonomiyaki restaurants don't offer plain rice. As a former Kansai resident, I'm used to having okonomiyaki and yakisoba with rice. The restaurant "Botedju" offers a "Half & Half Combo Yaki Lunch" where you can choose two halves of okonomiyaki, yakisoba, or modanyaki. The dishes were delicious, with a good balance of ingredients, eggs, and sauce. The yakisoba had a nice texture and the pork was slightly crispy, reminiscent of samgyeopsal. The cooking skill was evident in the delicious flavors. Overall, the meal was enjoyable, but I did notice some aspects of the service that felt unfamiliar, making me realize my Kansai roots. Understanding the differences in language, food, and lifestyle is crucial for true global integration. I also found the collaboration product, Bon Curry Yakisoba, intriguing.

Located on the 13th floor in Tobu's restaurant area. The interior of the restaurant is divided into table seats on the left and right, and a counter seat in the center where customers face each other. I was guided to the counter seat. Before that, they checked my temperature and sprayed disinfectant, so they are taking proper infection prevention measures. This restaurant doesn't have a self-cooking system, instead, they serve dishes that are already prepared. They offer various menu items such as negiyaki, okonomiyaki, yakisoba, and omusoba. The yakisoba with thick sauce and pork is very delicious. Overall, the prices are on the higher side, but I felt that it is suitable for multiple visits.

Head to Botedju on the 13th floor of Tobu Ikebukuro for some delicious okonomiyaki. The hot and fresh okonomiyaki comes on a hot iron plate, so you don't have to cook it yourself. It's reasonably priced at around 1500 yen per piece, but be warned - you won't be able to stop at just one! Personally, I prefer the traditional style okonomiyaki, and it was incredibly delicious. ^_^

I don't usually go to takoyaki or okonomiyaki restaurants, but it was raining during the rainy season. It was too much trouble to use an umbrella, so I had lunch at Tobu Department Store. I ordered a mix of Osaka-style takoyaki, negi-yaki (okonomiyaki with green onions), Nishinari-style fried chicken tulip, combination salad, and kimchi. I had two draft beers, five glasses of shochu, and a grapefruit sour. I ended up drinking too much, but my friend and I had a lot to drink and eat, and the bill came out to a reasonable 9,364 yen.

Ikebukuro Tobu Restaurant Floor Spice Botedjuu. Since Momotaro withdrew from Seibu, I don't know any good okonomiyaki restaurants in Ikebukuro, so I tried this one, but I could do without the okonomiyaki. However, it is handy to have a place where you can enjoy hot teppanyaki dishes at a reasonable price. On this day, there were delicious dishes like oyster butter soy sauce yaki and beef steak topped with salted kombu. Teppanyaki dishes fresh off the grill are delicious.

Ikebukuro Tobu Restaurant Floor Spice Botedju August 2018. Used by two people. My favorite Momotaro in Seibu closed down, so I've been missing okonomiyaki, but I found out that the okonomiyaki here is really delicious. They have a variety of B-1 Grand Prix menu items, perfect for when you're in the mood for some B-grade gourmet food. - Akashiyaki - Hamamatsu Gyoza - Seafood Salt Garlic Yakisoba - Bacon Garlic Rice - Traditional original pork balls Beer goes well with these dishes.
