I went shopping at Shinjuku Isetan and planned to have lunch, but the main building was crowded with all the restaurants. I had no choice but to go to the adjacent Isetan Annex, where the sushi, tonkatsu, and Thai restaurants were also packed. The only place that was not crowded was a Mediterranean restaurant occupying the entire 6th floor. I decided to give it a try and ordered a lunch plate with paella and chicken dishes. The meat was tender, and the flavors were just right. It exceeded my expectations in a good way.

Unlike watching in a theater, you can enjoy a powerful performance up close in the tablao setting, which is why I personally enjoy Flamenco shows performed there. I visited Garlochi to watch a Flamenco show on this day. The set includes a tapas plate and one drink. The tapas plate is quite generous in portion. Since the lighting tends to be dim during the show, it is recommended to arrive a bit early and have some of the food before the show starts.

Last night, I attended a press preview event for the visit of the maverick of the flamenco world, Israel Galvan. The venue was Tablao Flamenco Garlochi, a flamenco show restaurant with a fully equipped stage located on the 6th floor of the Isetan Kaikan in Asia. I didn't know that there was such an authentic flamenco restaurant in Japan... I was ignorant. Israel Galvan is a flamenco dancer known as the maverick of the traditional flamenco world, and rightfully so. His dance is like contemporary art! I personally felt that way (and I'm sure you all would too). I once went to see flamenco in Spain a long time ago, but it was a touristy place. People from all over the world gathered to enjoy wine, food, and passionate dancing... it was good in a Spanish way, but the dance on this night was something else. Powerful flamenco created with El Nino de Elche. I watched from the front row and truly savored the sweat pouring at my feet. It was a dinner show, so we leisurely enjoyed a selection of delicious Spanish dishes - pickles, cured ham, Spanish omelette, open sandwiches, and more. Each dish was carefully made and very tasty. I wanted to have wine with it, but I was here for work, as I was invited for coverage, so I had to make do with soft drinks (laughs). Next time, I want to enjoy a full course with main dishes. It was very cold with the air conditioning, so I had a warm coffee. Despite the cold, after about 20 minutes into the show, the heat and my excitement made me so hot that I ended up shedding my shawl! I love Spanish bars and Spanish cuisine! I have traveled to Spain many times and I remember being deeply moved by the flamenco show at a famous restaurant in Madrid. I even took flamenco lessons because I love it so much. I recently invited a friend who also loves Spain to visit this restaurant. Tablao Flamenco Garlochi is a theater-style flamenco restaurant where you can enjoy top-notch Spanish cuisine along with performances by the best artists in Spain. I opted for the Lopez de Vega course, which includes a seafood and chicken paella, priced at 7,020 yen. We started with a refreshing tomato and garlic cold soup for the amuse-bouche, followed by a variety of appetizers. The main course was a delicious roast beef with black garlic tapenade, and the highlight was definitely the seafood and chicken paella served during the flamenco show. The paella was rich and flavorful, with a perfect balance of seafood and rice. The show itself was fantastic, with powerful performances by the dancers. We ended the meal with a mixed berry ice cream and yogurt foam dessert. After the show, the restaurant turns into a bar where you can enjoy a wide selection of whiskies, including premium options like Ichiro's Malt 15 Year. Overall, this restaurant is a great place to experience the taste and atmosphere of Spain right in the heart of the city. Even though it was a weekday, the spacious restaurant was almost full! The show was performed twice and the powerful dancing and chants were captivating. This is where Elf Flamenco used to be. I visited for dinner as Christmas was approaching. The food was delicious with just the right amount. It is suitable for a wide range of age groups. The staff were very cool, which was surprising. However, they were a bit quick to clear the plates... I felt rushed as they tried to take away my plate while I was still drinking my drink. Maybe they made a mistake... The Flamenco performance was powerful and impressive. I was planning to leave after the first part, but ended up staying for both parts. It was a great experience to have a meal while enjoying the performance. Thank you for the meal.

I went to see my friend's flamenco performance.

In the past, it was called Elf Flamenco. It must have been about 3-4 years since it opened! More than 40 years ago, another senior told me about a delicious Spanish restaurant, and we went there together. Shinjuku Isetan was on the way between my dorm (Meguro) and work (Asagaya), and I often visited the Shinbashi Yokocho (commonly known as "Shonben Yokocho") near Shinjuku Station, as well as the jazz bar Primula inside Isetan Kaikan. I have vivid memories of the Spanish cuisine and Wada-san's piano at Primula. It was a time when I enjoyed the best food and the best music. Thank you!! Note: Wada Hajime is the father of actor Wada Hiroji, and the Wada-san at Primula is Hiroji's sister.

The restaurant after Elf Flamenco. It seems like the management has changed, but it's hard to tell what exactly has changed. However, it feels like the prices have gone up a bit. The dance troupe on stage that day consisted of people I had seen during the Elf Flamenco era. The stage was powerful and impressive.

I visited the restaurant before my first trip to Spain, wanting to try the cuisine. I don't remember exactly what time it was. The dance troupe has become even more high-level than before. The mesmerizing taste of tapas and Tio Pepe did not change, showing off their charm.

The meal had a slight Japanese touch and was delicious. The course cost 7000 yen. The show charge was an additional 5000 yen, but it was worth it.

The 6th floor of the Isetan building used to be Elf Flamenco for many years, but it closed down recently and now this new shop is here. It feels brighter than before, maybe because the wall color changed. The stage where Flamenco shows used to take place is still there and it seems to get lively at night. There are several lunch options, but I chose the paella lunch for ¥1000. The cold pumpkin soup was light and had a perfect sweetness from the fresh ingredients. The green salad was vibrant and delicious. The seafood paella looked beautiful with shrimp, clams, and mussels. Squeeze some lemon for a refreshing taste. The carne lunch had chicken with tomato sauce and a generous amount of potatoes. Both lunches came with soup, salad, and a drink. It's a large restaurant with 120 seats, so you can enjoy a leisurely lunch.

The food is delicious. For those who enjoy drinking, I recommend the cheese platter and the assorted ham platter (I recommend getting the M size as the S size is small). Enjoying wine while watching a show is truly a happy time. There are easy-to-drink wines available. I ordered two types of red wine, both of which were easy to drink. There were three types of red wine available by the glass. Watching a passionate show makes you feel like you can do your best again tomorrow. It's a place where you can feel that way.
