When it comes to the top race for older horses in summer horse racing, it has to be the Sapporo Kinen GII 2000m on turf. So, as usual, my former colleagues KB couple and their studio colleague Y-san, and I, decided to go to the Excel seats on the 9th floor of Wins Shiodome for the horse racing event. The plan had been in the works for a while, and now that I had recovered from my illness (although some aftereffects remain), we set off as planned! It had been over two weeks since I had been out. My muscles were weak, and my stamina was low, but I somehow made it to Shinbashi. The energy was already running low, so instead of standing and eating soba, I needed something more substantial to boost my spirits (laughs)… So, we decided to challenge the "beef bowl." In the Shinbashi area, you can find the three major beef bowl chains. But when it comes to beef bowls, personally, Yoshinoya is the go-to choice for me. In addition to the "Shinbashi Karasumiguchi Store," there is also the "Shinbashi Higashi Store" in the area. A typical food blogger might choose to visit a store they haven't been to before to increase their review count, but I, as a space cadet with no such concerns, decided to revisit the "Shinbashi Karasumiguchi Store" close to Wins Shiodome. And so, along Karasumori Street, across from the New Shinbashi Building, we went! The morning in Shinbashi on a Sunday is littered with garbage here and there, lacking cleanliness and favorability... It's like the remains of soldiers' dreams... Isn't that right? We hurried inside. It is located on the ground floor of a 7-story mixed-use building. It seems to have become quite clean, perhaps to attract female customers! On Saturday night, it changes to a stage for young people. They were all men (laughs) This means that the efforts to clean up the store have been in vain (laughs). Now, we sat at the counter closest to the entrance. I noticed later that it was actually in front of the cash register... It was unsettling (laughs). The order was placed using the now common tablet system. The beef bowl (regular) for 448 yen including tax. It seems to have become more expensive... Well, it's still within the range of a one-coin meal. I ordered it as a single item. The miso soup didn't taste good, and this time I passed on the pickles. The raw egg lacked vitality... The beef bowl (regular) Due to the gap, the familiar pattern of the bowl seemed unusually small... Was it always this small? However, when I tried it, the volume was more than it appeared. Well, that makes sense. The moderately fatty beef belly meat has that reassuring taste. The large, crunchy onions were also good. The rice soaked in sauce had a good texture, not too mushy, with good graininess, as expected from Yoshinoya. I topped it with pickled ginger and sprinkled seven spices, and enjoyed it♪ Well, actually, my sense of taste and smell are not perfect, so I'm basing my judgment on past experience... Sometimes I suddenly crave Yoshinoya's beef bowl. It has to be Yoshinoya's beef bowl, other beef bowls won't do. Let's go for the large size. It's currently 635 yen. I'll also add a side of raw vegetable salad. The dressing will be Japanese-style. It's 151 yen. Ah, Yoshinoya's beef bowl is so delicious. I can't describe it other than saying it's delicious. I'll definitely have it again.

I love Yoshigyu so much. I used to give in to temptation and go there for lunch or after getting drunk at the local station, but today I was in Shinbashi and saw Yoshigyu near the Uchimaru exit calling out to me. Due to the decrease in dining out opportunities during the pandemic, I realized it had been about 3 years since I last visited Yoshigyu. I ordered the Atama (large) size with less rice and they generously topped it with pickled ginger. The broth was not too sweet and delicious. Yoshigyu really offers good value for money. I thoroughly enjoyed my long-awaited meal at Yoshigyu. It has been so long since I last visited that I couldn't help but think that delicious food is still delicious, so I gave it a score of 3.4 (laughs).

I visited the restaurant before 5 pm on a weekday and it was not crowded. The jaw exercise was good, but the meat was not delicious. However, the sauce was tasty with a sweet and savory flavor. Since I chewed thoroughly, I didn't feel unsatisfied. Shinbashi Sunday breakfast series. Last week it was "Yakiniku Like", but this week it's the classic "Yoshinoya for morning beef". I noticed the advertisement at the entrance of the Uchimori store a while ago, saying "Morning beef has started", and it caught my attention. When I go to Yoshinoya, I always order the Atama Oomori with an egg and miso soup, but this "Morning Beef" offers a set with various sizes of beef bowls and miso soup with a side dish. You can choose from raw egg, hot spring egg, mini salad, natto, and pickles for the side dish. The Atama Oomori, raw egg, and miso soup that I ordered would normally cost 650 yen, but with Morning Beef, it's 580 yen, so it's surprisingly a good deal. Depending on the side dish, it can be even more cost-effective. When it comes to eating beef bowls at a chain restaurant, Yoshinoya is the best choice. Matsuya's Premium Gyudon is also good, but Yoshinoya is unbeatable. At Matsuya, I stick to the beef yakiniku set. The perfect thickness of the meat that becomes tender with the addictive sauce that has a subtle umami and sweetness. The right amount of fat that adds to the sweetness of the meat. Yoshinoya is definitely the winner. I put the raw egg in the center, sprinkle a little soy sauce, and mix it with the shichimi pepper, which is not too spicy. Unlike Matsuya, the instant-like miso soup is unique to Yoshinoya. Finally, I refresh my mouth with pickled ginger... Mmm, satisfied. The beef bowls at Yoshinoya are said to have slight differences in taste at each store because they are continuously replenished. Since the Tsukiji store is gone now, the Yurakucho store has the most history and is known for its delicious sauce. Next time, I'll go to the Yurakucho store after a long time and see for myself. The "Natto Beef Small Side Dish Set" for 404 yen (with half portion of rice) caught my eye. I love natto, but it's not quite filling enough on its own. This "One Soup Three Side Dishes Morning Set" comes with a "beef small side dish" and a "salad" - a great deal! I enjoy mixing the remaining rice with the natto after finishing the beef side dish. Natto rice is just so delicious! Oh, and I can't resist the "Ham and Egg Natto Set" where the beef side dish is replaced with ham and egg. Yes, I'm satisfied. Thank you for the meal, I will definitely come back.

I was thinking of having cold morning udon, but ended up ordering the eel and beef set with small dishes. When the server repeated my order as eel with miso and beef with small dishes, I realized they got it right. The dishes were delicious as always, but I ended up spending too much money, 1101 yen, right from the start of the day.

I have been eating a lot of curry from "Yoshinoya" recently. Similar to the beef bowl chain "Matsuya," Yoshinoya also has a menu item called "Karegyu," which is curry with beef. I can't say which one tastes better since I like curry in general, but in terms of matching, I feel like the newer Yoshinoya is a good match. When it comes to just curry, Matsuya is good, but when combined with beef, Yoshinoya is the better choice. I had the "Niku Daku Gyu Curry (598 yen + tax)" this time. Come to think of it, Matsuya serves miso soup with their curry, while Yoshinoya offers an optional miso soup that complements the spiciness well, so the impression is naturally different. I went there on an empty stomach at 5 in the morning this day, and although I had various thoughts, I will probably end up going there to eat again.

I went to the Shinbashi Karasumori-guchi store and ordered the beef salad at the counter on the second floor. The place was full of Shinbashi office workers, and I was the only one who ordered the beef salad during my stay. However, it wasn't that bad. The salad plate had cabbage at the bottom, topped with beans, boiled chicken breast, broccoli, beef, and a soft-boiled egg, with a convenience store dressing on the side. According to Yoshinoya's website, the calorie count for this dish is 414 calories with 17.2g of carbohydrates. This is amazing! Compared to a regular beef bowl with 478 calories and 92.8g of carbohydrates, this salad is a great low-carb option. The beef portion was a bit small, but the boiled chicken and beans helped keep me full. Mixing in the soft-boiled egg added a nice flavor. For those on a low-carb diet, I recommend trying this 500 yen salad. It's surprisingly good!
