まめぞう
After enjoying delicious Taiwanese cuisine, the three of us decided to go to a second location. With options of revolving sushi, soba restaurant, izakaya, and okonomiyaki restaurant, the carb-loving young lady chose "Hanabi" without hesitation. We called ahead to make a reservation and headed there, but couldn't find the restaurant. After calling the restaurant for directions, we found out that it was located underground nearby. It seems that the restaurant, which opened in the summer of 2017, is still relatively unknown and somewhat of a hidden gem. We started by ordering drinks and making a toast! A side dish of grilled potato salad was served, and we looked over the menu. Since we had eaten quite a bit at the Chinese restaurant earlier, I was thinking of ordering something light like grilled chicken liver with ponzu sauce or pickled Hiroshima vegetables, but the young lady wouldn't have it. So, we ordered their signature okonomiyaki, "Hanabi-yaki," topped with meatballs, squid tempura, green onions, and shiso leaves with soba noodles. And then, the young lady surprised us by also ordering omurice. What?? We just had 2 chimaki, 1 bowl of tantanmen, and 1 bowl of rice at the Taiwanese restaurant earlier!! The omurice arrived first. While the gentlemen were sipping on their drinks, the young lady was gobbling up the omurice (surprising). Just as she finished, the okonomiyaki arrived with three skewers. We divided it into quarters, with each of the gentlemen having one quarter and the young lady having half. It was undeniably delicious Hiroshima-style okonomiyaki. When we checked the time, it was getting late. After requesting the bill, the total came to 6,555 yen: 324 yen x 3 for the side dish, 843 yen for the omurice, 1,566 yen for the Hanabi-yaki with soba, 540 yen x 2 for drinks, 486 yen x 2 for drinks, and 561 yen x 2 for drinks. It came out to 2,185 yen per person. Thank you for the delicious meal.
