End-of-year work is finally over. Today's holiday, I was feeling quite tired, but decided to visit Chitose Rera for a change of pace. After finishing shopping, I stopped by a restaurant called "Ristorante e Caffe Nao" located in the outskirts of Chitose City. It is an Italian restaurant that was renovated from a farmhouse situated by the clear stream of the Chitose River, surrounded by nature. The interior of the restaurant is relatively simple, with a somewhat quiet and peaceful atmosphere. For lunch, you can choose from three course options priced at 1,700 yen, 2,300 yen, and 3,500 yen. I opted for the "A Course" priced at 1,700 yen, which included an appetizer platter, homemade bread, pasta with Erimo beef ragu, and espresso coffee. The appetizer consisted of prosciutto, arugula, broccoli, chicken liver pate, sliced Pecorino Romano with rusk, and marinated squid. The flavors were gentle and the ingredients' taste was well highlighted. The homemade bread was simple and authentic, perfect for dipping in olive oil. The pasta with ragu had a wild yet delicate appearance and taste, with a robust flavor that may be a bit too garlicky for some. The espresso coffee was particularly impressive, with a deep and rich flavor. Overall, the A Course provided a satisfying and filling experience for its price. The restaurant also had fishing lures and rods on display, hinting at the chef's love for fishing. Based on other reviews, the restaurant is highly praised for its focus on quality ingredients, particularly the fresh vegetables sourced from the Chitose River area. It seems to prioritize using local produce in its dishes, making it a recommended spot for enjoying delicious Hokkaido vegetables, especially during the green season. It offers a casual yet slightly upscale Italian dining experience, making it a unique find.
