I visited the restaurant with two of my high school juniors. The name of the restaurant, "Tagawa," is a place in Fukuoka, and as someone from Fukuoka, I had always been curious about this restaurant every time I passed by. Finally, I had the chance to visit. The restaurant is run by a former sumo wrestler who is also from Tagawa, Fukuoka. When I mentioned Tagawa, the owner shared that it is also the hometown of comedians like Kotoge, Bakarhythm, IKKO, and Yosui Inoue. We started with a toast of draft beer and looked at the menu, which had a variety of tempting dishes. We ordered the Tagawa Hormone Teppanyaki Ozeki, Chicken Leek Pons, Hakata's classic vinegar motsu, and Hakata Gobugobu. Unfortunately, the sesame mackerel, a soul food for people from Fukuoka, was not available that day, so we ordered the sesame paste instead. The Hakata Gobugobu was a pickled radish, which served as a good appetizer. Next came the Chicken Leek Pons, which was incredibly delicious and went well with alcohol. We then switched from beer to black Kirishima EX, served with water. We managed to finish all the drinks that day, but the owner mentioned that they can keep a bottle for up to two months. The sesame paste that came next was colorful, crunchy, and extremely tasty. The vinegar motsu, a classic dish, was also delicious, and the shochu went down smoothly. The highlight was the Tagawa Hormone. The hot teppanyaki-grilled hormone was juicy, well-balanced with vegetables, and had an exquisite sauce. We felt like having rice with it. We then ordered the Mabo Motsu Tofu as an additional dish, which turned out to be a great choice. It was like Mabo Tofu with meat, but with hormone. It was incredibly delicious and went well with the shochu. Finally, we ordered the soy sauce motsu nabe. The vegetable assortment was not as generous as Hakata's, but the hormone sourced from Tagawa shone in the motsu nabe. It was one of the best I've had in Tokyo. We ended the meal with Champon noodles, which were also incredibly delicious. We made a firm promise to have more gatherings at this restaurant in the future. The food was excellent, the owner's stories were interesting, and I regret not visiting sooner. The restaurant can be reserved for up to 15 people, and can accommodate up to 20 people, so I will definitely be coming back for more, especially for high school reunions. Thank you for the wonderful meal. It was truly a happy time.
