Today's menu:
- Peach soda: 180 yen
- Hanami dango (rice dumplings): 130 yen
- Kusa dango (grass dumplings): 150 yen
- Entrance fee: 300 yen
Total: 760 yen
The villa was built in 1654 as a separate residence for the Tokugawa family, later becoming an imperial villa called "Hama Rikyu" after the restoration. It was later bestowed to the Tokyo Metropolitan Government and is now a special scenic spot and historic site in Japan. Surprisingly, it is quite spacious, and it took me an hour just to stroll around.
Inside Hama Rikyu is a shop called "Hamamiyo," which has a charming terrace seating area.
I bought some dango (rice dumplings) here. Surprisingly, they were individually packaged... quite lacking in charm. Could it be that the villa of the shogunate is selling factory-made products? I let my guard down...
The three-colored dango and grass dumplings had an artificial sweetness that left an impression.
The garden is truly magnificent! But the dumplings, on the other hand... well, let's just say they were unexpected.
Overall, it was a nice experience. Thank you for the meal!

Before entering the park, I knew that the cosmos flowers had already been cut, but I went to confirm. The flower field will have to wait until spring for the rapeseed flowers. There was a shop nearby, so I stopped by. I hadn't noticed any signs before, so it may be relatively new. They had a variety of items like drinks, ice cream, rice cakes, rice crackers, souvenirs like rice crackers, dried sweets, and magnets. There is a covered rest area right in front, perfect for resting tired feet. I bought the following item:
- Chestnut-shaped cookies for 320 yen
After this, I will have a dessert course, so I chose a snack that I could take home. The cookies are cute in the shape of chestnuts, and although I've never heard of "chestnut cookies" before, I know cookies with colorful icing in the shape of animals, which brings back nostalgic memories. The design of the paper bag seal is nice. I had it with tea at home. The cookies are firm with a good crunch and not too sweet, perfect for when you want something refreshing. The chestnut decoration is also cute. The staff was very friendly. Hama-Rikyu Gardens are a well-maintained oasis in the city, very pleasant. Next time, I would like to try the rice cakes.

I casually went to Hamarikyu Gardens for cherry blossom viewing. The cherry blossoms, plum blossoms, and rapeseed flowers were beautiful. Normally, sake is the drink of choice for flower viewing, but occasionally tea and dumplings are nice too. I don't know the taste of the three-color dumplings because they are in my wife's stomach. The fried rice cakes were surprisingly soft and delicious with a nice soy sauce flavor. The shogun rice crackers had a good amount of salt and were a convenient size to carry around. It seems like I've finally reached the age where I enjoy taking walks in spring gardens.

I used it for lunch on my day off. It is a tea house located in Hama Rikyu. It was crowded because it was the autumn leaves season. I had three-color dumplings and tea. They were pleasantly sweet and very delicious. I would like to come back again.

I went to Hama Rikyu Gardens to see the cosmos flowers. The Kibana cosmos seemed past its peak, while the regular cosmos were not yet in full bloom. It was a hot day with a high of 28 degrees, making it sweaty to walk around the garden. A bride in a kimono was taking commemorative photos, looking uncomfortable in the heat. As I walked towards the flower fields, I noticed bees and even wasps buzzing around the Kibana cosmos. I tried to take photos while avoiding the wasps, as I have a strong aversion to them. I also had to carry my 6-year-old who was scared of insects. I then saw a sign for "Hamamise" and "Manju" and assumed it was a tea shop, only to find out it was just a regular store. However, there was a rest area nearby where I decided to enjoy some manju. I ended up buying three-color dumplings (130 yen), grass dumplings (150 yen), and fried mochi (180 yen) from the store. The dumplings were soft and sticky, with a simple and pleasant taste. The fried mochi had a delicious flavor of soy sauce and sugar, with a satisfying oily texture. Although I had initially come for the cosmos flowers, the delicious snacks made me forget all about them. I plan to visit this place again next spring after viewing the rapeseed flowers.

I went from Shinbashi Station to Hamarikyu Gardens. I bought a shogun senbei for 150 yen and ate it. Relaxing while looking at the garden view is the best. The senbei was of moderate hardness and had a taste that would appeal to everyone. I had just eaten lunch a little while ago, but I finished eating the senbei in no time.

It's the perfect season, with beautiful autumn leaves! So, I took a walk at Hama Rikyu, which I had never been to before. I walked and walked. The garden inside is bigger than I thought! And then, ta-da! A kiosk-like shop appeared! There are some nice snacks for a break. Which one should I choose...hmm... I got fried mochi and daifuku! Both have just the right amount of sweetness to soothe my tired body. Ahh... Alright, let's walk a little more... Thank you for the meal. I'll visit again.

Today, I went to Hama-Rikyu Gardens in Shinbashi for cherry blossom viewing. The cherry blossoms were starting to fall, but there were still some flowers left, so I enjoyed a leisurely stroll. While walking around the garden, I stumbled upon a souvenir shop called Hamami Yawara. It seemed like they specialized in Japanese-style souvenirs and sweets that foreigners would enjoy. I took a break and tried their "Happiness in Full Bloom" mochi, which was a pink mochi wrapped in oak leaves. The mochi was chewy with a deliciously sweet filling, spreading gently in my mouth. The weather was nice, and eating the mochi while admiring the cherry blossoms made it taste even better. It was a lovely atmosphere at the tea house.

The cream-filled daifuku "Yumefuku Mochi" is delicious. A set of Yumefuku Mochi and yomogi mochi is 150 yen.

This is a shop located inside the Hama Rikyu Gardens. They sell items like three-colored dumplings, grass dumplings with red bean paste, as well as souvenirs like traditional Japanese hand towels and eco bags. During my visit with a childhood friend who lives overseas, she bought a magnet and a folding umbrella with a Japanese design, while I decided to try the "Kimono Rice Cracker." It's a rice cracker wrapped in a package with a kimono pattern printed on it, with the head part made of sweet beans. It's made by Mannendo in Taito Ward, and the packaging also has "Hama Rikyu Gardens" printed on it. I initially thought it was just for show, but surprisingly, the rice cracker itself was quite tasty, and the price was reasonable for a souvenir. The two women working there provided great customer service, and I was impressed by their ability to assist foreign customers. I really liked the Japanese garden, including the pond, at Hama Rikyu Gardens, and I would love to visit again. And when I do, I will definitely stop by this shop again.

Blog ⇒ 【Riding on the Drifting Clouds♪】This place is like a kiosk, right? It's quite interesting! First of all, the unique signboard catches your eye... Is it really called "Hamamise"? It also says "KIOSK"... Is there some kind of connection to JR? It's located inside the Hama-rikyu Gardens... I was curious and decided to look it up. And I found out something I didn't know! The real meaning of "KIOSK" is... a temporary structure! And it's a temporary structure in the garden... I see, that's why it's called a "KIOSK"! It operates within the flower and tree garden of the spacious garden. There is also a free rest area right next to it, so it's convenient. Despite being in the heart of Tokyo, you can enjoy nature here. It's also a place where you can feel the Edo atmosphere. Despite being a temporary structure, it has a variety of original products... It's a charming kiosk that stands out from a regular shop. There are stylish folk crafts typical of Edo lined up. Of course, they also offer dumplings and tea, so you can rest assured. So, this time I used it as a teahouse. And here, I discovered an original product. That is the "Rose Shoe Ice Cream". It is made by "Yo-kashi Hirota". It was created in collaboration with the Tokyo Metropolitan Park Association. Therefore, it can only be purchased in limited locations. In a sense, it is a product with a rare value. And at 180 yen per piece, it is affordable and easy to purchase. The taste is also just like "Yo-kashi Hirota". You can really taste the rose, so I recommend it. Service: Excellent Cuisine: Excellent Value: Excellent

When the cherry blossoms had just started to fall, I visited the Hama Rikyu Gardens. The cherry blossoms had turned into leafy trees, but the garden was still quite impressive, and I spent over 2 hours walking around the park. At the end, I stopped by a rest area near the flower garden, where there was a shop called "Hamamiyo." They had souvenirs like Shogun rice crackers and boxed traditional Japanese sweets, but they also sold individual items like rice cakes, kashiwa mochi, muffins, and drinks. I decided to buy a Japanese sweet called "Happiness in Full Bloom Mochi," which had sakura bean paste inside a soft mochi. Although it wasn't wrapped in a kashiwa leaf, it was still called kashiwa mochi, with a hint of cherry blossom flavor.
