Sapporo City, Atsubetsu Ward, Atsubetsu Nishi area. A restaurant with the proven quality of being selected as one of the top 100 Asian Ethnic restaurants by Tabelog in 2022 and one of the top 100 Curry restaurants in 2019. The restaurant has a parking lot in front and a cozy atmosphere with counter seats, table seats, and raised tatami seating, making it easy for individuals or families to visit. I had the impression that there aren't many delicious Nepalese curry restaurants, but I decided to visit this one for the first time. The Nepalese population in Japan has increased by 29.5% due to a rise in the number of students studying abroad, so Nepalese cuisine restaurants might increase nationwide in the future. I happened to see a feature about Nepalese cuisine on a TV show yesterday, so I was already aware of it (laughs). I wanted to try a variety of dishes, so I opted for a set menu. I ordered the Nepalese Set (1350 yen) with the 4th level of spiciness, which included Chicken Leg Curry, Keema Curry, Salad, Rice & Plain Naan, and Iced Coffee. It was a generous set with a good amount of food. When the curries were served, I couldn't help but smile, and the staff also smiled back at me. The Chicken Saag Curry was excellent with chunks of chicken, a balanced mix of coriander powder and red pepper spices, a subtle spiciness, and the bitterness and sweetness of spinach (fenugreek?). It was well done with less oil compared to Indian curries, making it light and enjoyable. The Keema Curry had a strong spiciness with a hearty texture from the minced meat and a rich spice flavor. The level 4 spiciness is equivalent to a medium to hot level in home-cooked curries. It's not overpowering, so it's easy to try even for those who prefer spicier dishes. The spiciness and spice flavor were reminiscent of Indian curries, which I particularly liked. It had just the right amount of spiciness, but I'd like to try level 5 next time. The salad was tasty with a sesame dressing suitable for Japanese taste. The turmeric (saffron) rice was fragrant and had a nice texture, perfect for Japanese palates. The Plain Naan was delicious with a strong wheat flavor, and I eagerly devoured it with both hands. The Iced Coffee was a bit light, and although I mentioned it was for after the meal, it arrived before the meal, but I didn't mind. Overall, I heard from other reviewers that the chef is from a famous restaurant in Otaru. I've been to that place before, and now I feel like going back there. I would definitely rank this restaurant among the top curry places I've visited. I was extremely satisfied with the delicious curry. Thank you for the meal♪♪
