I finally want to share my review. I have been visiting this restaurant every month since it opened. I was shocked when I first visited and have been hooked ever since. I couldn't believe such a great restaurant opened in Ikebukuro! The two head chefs used to work at a famous Japanese restaurant, so the taste and ingredients are excellent. Their horse sashimi is the best, with both lean and marbled cuts being delicious. I think it's the best in Tokyo. They also serve seasonal fish that are always delicious, with the lineup changing monthly. They mentioned that they source ingredients from the same place as Ginza Kyubei. You must try their motsunabe (offal hot pot) as well! The rich soup with tender offal and fresh crunchy vegetables is outstanding. I believe their broth is the best in Tokyo. For a finishing touch, I recommend their zosui (rice soup), which allows you to enjoy the gentle flavor of the broth even after eating a lot. They have many other recommended dishes and snacks, so everyone should definitely try them out! They offer a wide variety of drinks. I usually start with beer, then move on to highballs, and finish with sake. They also have a great selection of whiskies, shochu, and sake, with a focus on Kyushu's local drinks, which is very appealing. I heard that every year, the restaurant closes for a few days and the staff all fly to Kyushu to research dishes, visit sake breweries, and personally select delicious drinks for the restaurant. The staff are also very friendly and provide great service, making you feel welcome and adding to the fun atmosphere with cheers and laughter.

The razor clam sashimi at Higesori Dai was excellent. The horse sashimi was marbled and the lean meat was also very delicious, the best in Tokyo! The mentaiko had no off-flavors and was very tasty. The recommended sake, Higetsuru [Yamadanishiki], was also good. I was surprised that the chaser water tasted better than before. I was pleased.

The signature dish, motsunabe, features a light soy sauce broth with cabbage, burdock, garlic chives, and tender offal. The staff members are friendly, making it a comfortable place to dine. 😊

The interior is luxurious and very beautiful, with attention to detail such as dishes made from Kyushu ceramics. I went with a friend, but I think it's also suitable for a date. The dishes, including horse sashimi, horse meat yukhoe, satsuma-age, and tamagoyaki with mentaiko, were all delicious. I had 2-3 drinks, added a nabe dish to share, and had zosui (rice porridge) at the end, all for around 5,000-6,000 yen per person. I think the cost performance is also very good. I highly recommend this restaurant! The conversations with the owner and the female staff were interesting, and I definitely want to go back.

I visited for the first time. The interior of the restaurant is beautiful and has a calm atmosphere. The staff are also nice, the food is delicious, and the fact that they are open late at night is also appealing! Kyushu cuisine has many delicious dishes, and no matter what you eat, the taste of the ingredients themselves is delicious! I will definitely visit again!

I use this place a lot. The atmosphere is great. The food is just delicious. I recommend the sesame marinated amberjack. It's absolutely beautiful. The marinated sardines are also a must-try. It makes you crave white rice and goes well with sake. The pickled mustard leaf fried rice is the perfect way to end the meal. They have a wide variety of alcohol like motsunabe and mentaiko, but they don't keep bottles. However, the owner is friendly and flexible. The counter seats are comfortable. It's great that they stay open late. You should definitely give it a try.

I researched and made a net reservation for a restaurant that was open late at night and served horse sashimi. The food and drinks were all delicious! I will definitely go again ^^

I was taken to the Kyushu cuisine restaurant Uma Kyu by my senior for a work-related discussion. The restaurant had just opened and the interior was very clean, with a counter seating for 10 and three tables with 4 seats each. We sat at the counter and ordered a few dishes while enjoying some drinks. The dishes included mentaiko (spicy cod roe) omelette, horse sashimi yukhoe, cream cheese and sesame sashimi, fried rice, yakisoba, and more, all of which were excellent! The staff were friendly and we had pleasant conversations with them. It was a wonderful restaurant, and I will definitely go back again!

The staff are all friendly and it's fun to chat with them! Whenever someone asks me for a good restaurant in Ikebukuro, I always recommend Makyu!
