I felt like eating delicious turtle soup porridge, so I visited alone. I ordered the large size with meat. The simple seasoning of only light salt in the turtle broth was elegant, with a deep flavor that soaked into my body. I was satisfied with the plentiful soup. Next time, I plan to invite my wife and try the course menu.

I visited Murakami Suppon Honpo based on a friend's recommendation for their Suppon Zosui lunch. I ordered the top menu item, Suppon Zosui for 1000 yen including tax, as I heard that the meat-included option takes about an hour to prepare. When I took a sip of the collagen-rich soup, I was surprised by the umami flavor that I had never experienced before. I realized that it was the Suppon broth. I adjusted the seasoning to my liking by adding about half a teaspoon of salt to the soup. The pickled cucumber served as a nice palate cleanser. The meal was delicious, but be careful as it is hot - I ended up burning the roof of my mouth. I finished with a cup of coffee, and I am looking forward to having smooth skin in the morning.

I didn't know that you could have a turtle lunch at "Murakami Suppon Honpo," located along Asakusa Street, just a short walk from Ueno Station. I had no idea even though I always passed by this place. They also sell turtle soup on the first floor. Excitedly, I made my way up to the restaurant on the third floor, which I didn't know existed. The menu ranges from a 1,000 yen porridge to a 10,000 yen course meal. It seems this place has a 300-year history. They prepare the food after you order, so it may take some time. I ordered the "Suppon Sour and Spicy Porridge" for 1,000 yen. The turtle is domestically produced. The sour and spicy aroma is irresistible. It also came with pickles. Let's dig in. The sour and spicy flavor combined with the essence of the turtle creates a rich porridge. It's delicious. It feels like a high-quality seafood broth. I had never eaten turtle before! It was my first time trying it, and it was so delicious. I finished every last drop. Surprisingly, coffee was served after the meal. It was much appreciated. The restaurant was full of middle-aged ladies, all aware of the beauty benefits of turtle. The nutrient-rich turtle soup that even the Antarctic Wintering Party used to drink. Afterward, I felt energized and full of vitality. Please note that this place is only open on weekdays from 11:30 to 15:00.

A week later, I revisited the restaurant. This week was easy on my body and I decided to try a different menu, opting for the meat-included rice porridge. I made a reservation over the phone and arrived at the restaurant. I climbed the stairs to the third floor. Unlike my previous visit where there were mostly male customers, this time there were many female customers, which made me feel relieved. Since I had made a reservation, small dishes and chopsticks were already set up for me. I sat down and everything was prepared a bit early since I had reserved. The clear soup with beaten egg and meat was served, just like the last time, full of collagen and delicious meat. The meat was fresh and easy to eat. As I ate, I started feeling warm inside my body. It was a wonderful experience at this amazing restaurant, and I am grateful for the nourishing lunch. Initially, I noticed the lunch menu as I passed by the restaurant. I am familiar with Murakami's turtle soup, as I often buy the canned turtle soup from the department store. Depending on the price, I sometimes buy the meat-included version and use it when I have a cold or feel tired. It warms my body, so I am a regular user. When I discovered that this restaurant serves turtle soup, I checked the location one day around 5 pm. I just wanted to see where it was. I felt heavy from Thursday onwards, almost like I was about to catch a cold. On Friday, I remembered this place and immediately called them. Since I am not good with elevators, I asked if there were stairs, and they kindly confirmed. I was very happy about that. I headed there eagerly. I greeted the elegant lady who answered the phone and took the stairs. The restaurant is on the third floor. The menu offered rice porridge starting at 1000 yen, as well as unique flavors like tantan and curry rice porridge. The meat-included options starting from 2000 yen take 40-50 minutes to prepare. I was interested in the 3800 yen set with a pot and rice porridge. Given my condition, that's what I wanted. The female staff was concerned about the wait time, but I insisted on ordering that set. I didn't mind waiting. I was excited and looking forward to it. The turtle soup with sesame dressing and somen noodles was served. I love this kind of dish. The elegant sesame flavor was soothing. In a pot, there was a generous amount of meat in the clear soup. The soup had a hint of ginger, which was a great combination. It was a wonderful turtle soup full of collagen. Additionally, there was a hot egg-included turtle porridge. As I ate, my body started feeling warm. It was delicious and comforting. I was completely satisfied with the nourishing lunch and would love to visit this place weekly. At the time of payment, a kind man informed me that there were turtles in a tank on the fourth floor. Overall, I was very satisfied with this historic restaurant run by the 19th generation head.

I thought that sukiyaki cuisine would be intimidating, but the staff at the restaurant were kind and welcoming. The atmosphere of the restaurant is elegant and cozy. The sukiyaki hot pot is incredibly delicious, with a thick, white collagen-like jelly covering the sukiyaki. The soup is also tasty. The somen noodles and zosui rice porridge that come with the hot pot are delicious as well. My tired body felt rejuvenated after the meal. I would love to go back again. I want to go every day for the sake of my body and skin. I envy those who live nearby. I feel lucky to have visited. Thank you to everyone at the restaurant.

JR Ueno Station's Asakusa exit, walk along Asakusa Street for 2-3 minutes. It is close to the station, but Ueno Station's structure is complex, so it may take a few minutes to exit the station from the platform, making it feel not so close. The third floor of a wholesaler that handles soft-shelled turtles is a dining floor. I had soft-shelled turtle porridge. The most basic one costs 1000 yen. The pot is served while simmering. "It's lightly seasoned, so feel free to add salt and chili here." So, I took a sip of the soup. Hmmm, this is not just lightly seasoned, it's quite bland. I have had Chinese-style soft-shelled turtle cuisine before, and compared to its strong flavor, this is quite the opposite. Perhaps it's because it's Japanese-style. However, if you add salt carefully while paying attention to the amount, oh, it's actually quite good. The ingredients are just egg and green onions, but it's strange how the presence of soft-shelled turtle comes through. It really warms the body and makes you feel refreshed, is it just my imagination? By the way, coffee is served after the meal. Soft-shelled turtle porridge comes in various types like tantan porridge. A large serving costs an extra 300 yen. The meat-included one costs 2000 yen, and a large serving is an additional 500 yen, but it takes quite a bit of time. It might be safer to order by phone before going. The interior of the restaurant is not Japanese-style, only table seating. The tables are in a reddish-brown color, and combined with the light bulb (warm white?) lighting, it creates a soft atmosphere. It somehow gives off a retro vibe, reminiscent of a Meiji-era cafe or a Western-style restaurant. It seems like it would go well with wine, but having just soft-shelled turtle seems like a waste.

I visited this restaurant because it was featured on a TV show and I had never tried soft-shelled turtle before. I ordered the soft-shelled turtle porridge and the soft-shelled turtle porridge with meat for lunch. When I ordered the one with meat, it came with two pieces of soft-shelled turtle meat. They told me it would take some time, and I ended up waiting for an hour. Finally, the soft-shelled turtle porridge arrived and when I tried it...hmm? It lacked flavor (mostly). The porridge had beaten eggs and pieces of soft-shelled turtle meat, but the soup had no taste. Eating the soft-shelled turtle meat felt like eating tasteless chicken meat. It was so bland that I had to add salt from the table to make it more flavorful. It was very disappointing to wait for an hour and get this kind of taste. If you want to try the soft-shelled turtle meat properly, it's better to order the one with meat. Overall, if you haven't tried soft-shelled turtle before and want to experience it at a reasonable price, this place might be worth a try.
