During lunchtime at Marunouchi STREET, if you're lucky, you might come across the Tokyo Kaikan Kitchen Car. Its name is BISTRO WAGON by TOKYO KAIKAN, offering Western and Chinese cuisine with a different menu each day. Today, I decided on the hamburger bento, while my colleagues went for the shrimp curry bento and shrimp chili bento. We enjoyed our meal under the blue sky. The taste of Tokyo Kaikan at this price is truly a great deal. Since the kitchen car moves around depending on the day, be sure to check their schedule on the web. Next time, I'll challenge myself with the Chinese menu. Thank you for the delicious meal. (Location: 1. In front of Shin-Kokusai Building 2. In front of Shin-Tokyo Building 3. In front of Park Building 4. In front of Marunouchi Nitchome Building 5. In front of Maru Building)

On a regular day, I went out to the Marunouchi area. I decided to visit the kitchen car of Tokyo Kaikan, which I had been interested in after seeing it on TV. It has been in operation since last Christmas. Currently, they are offering their famous curry and "Bistro simmered rice" on Marunouchi Nakadori. The food truck was stationed in front of the Marunouchi Nitchome Building (formerly Mitsubishi Heavy Industries Building) on this day. There is now a statue of rugby player Michael Leitch in the adjacent space. I arrived at around 11:10 AM, and the sleek black kitchen car was still preparing. The menu for the day consisted of shrimp curry for 1100 yen and chicken fricassee for 1000 yen. They started serving at around 11:20 AM. I purchased the curry and soup for 200 yen. Coincidentally, Marunouchi Nakadori is currently holding the "Marunouchi Nakadori Urban Terrace," where they open the road during lunchtime and set up tables and chairs. Since outdoor dining under the sunlight filtering through the trees is quite pleasant, I decided to use one of the table seats. Inside the lunch box, along with curry and rice, there were various colorful side dishes like grilled salmon and warm vegetables. The European-style yellow-brown curry was moderate in spiciness and spice, with the richness of the base soup shining through, reminiscent of a high-class hotel curry. The ingredients were simple, with about three small shrimps. Although everything, including the side dishes and soup, was delicious, as a small eater, I couldn't help feeling that the portion was a bit lacking. I wish they would reduce the side dishes or increase the price to add more curry and rice. I still felt like eating something more, so I bought an apple pie nearby at the Tokyo Kaikan Main Building and ate it at home later.

I got takeout from a kitchen car at Tokyo Forum and it was delicious. The curry was smooth and creamy, very tasty.
