Visited for the first time in my life the town of Wakkanai, the northernmost town in Hokkaido, Japan. This restaurant, located very close to Nosappu Cape, seems to be a dining place run by fishermen and also serves as a rider house. First, you place an order at the neighboring fish store before moving to the dining area. I ordered the "Sea Urchin Bowl (2000 yen)" and was told by the staff that it is currently in season with Murasaki Uni, freshly caught in the morning and not treated with alum. Other options include seafood bowls, sashimi, and grilled fish set meals. The atmosphere inside the restaurant was great, with a grill on each table where you can cook seafood. There is a sink where you can get water or tea yourself. The haikus posted on the wall were also lovely. The bowl arrived in just over 5 minutes, filled with sea urchin on top of the rice. I was surprised by the amount of sea urchin for the price of 2000 yen! It was sweet, delicious, and had the true taste of sea urchin. The shijimi clam miso soup with scallops was also delicious with a gentle miso flavor. Wakkanai is the birthplace of Rishiri Kombu, the sea urchins' food, so eating good kombu makes the sea urchins tasty! Overall, I was completely satisfied with the unbelievably delicious sea urchin at such a low price. I would love to try the Bafun Uni in the summer.

I visited a fisherman's restaurant in early April when it was still closed for the winter season. I finally got to eat there! I arrived at 8:00 in the morning and ordered at the shop on the left, then enjoyed my meal in the restaurant on the right. I had a sea urchin bowl (purple sea urchin) for 2200 yen, a sashimi assortment for 1000 yen, scallops for 250 yen, and whelk for 150 yen. Everything was cheap and delicious! The sea urchin was so tasty that it didn't need soy sauce! The sashimi included 7 different kinds of fish, all delicious. The miso soup with baby scallops was also amazing, even though I usually don't eat the flesh of scallops.

It's before noon, but there are 4-5 people waiting in front of the restaurant. Orders are placed at the left entrance, and when the seats are ready, customers are guided to the right side of the restaurant. I wanted to eat sea urchin rice bowl and visited Noshappu Misaki, but unfortunately they didn't have it. However, I ordered a seafood rice bowl (¥1,600) and scallop sashimi (¥500) instead. They were delicious!! Especially the scallops were sweet and fresh. It was a great deal with the addition of button shrimp. It's no wonder that many riders visit this place.

I visited the restaurant after seeing a review that sea urchin was cheap, but unfortunately it was sold out. - Seafood bowl 1,600 yen (tax included): It was nice to have a little bit of sea urchin, and the seafood was fresh and delicious. The rice was normal, not vinegared. - Grilled scallop 1 piece for 250 yen (tax included): A bit pricey but the scallop was large and rare, very tasty. - Grilled squid: The squid was large and tender, delicious. The owner worked hard to serve us. Also, there were Ezo deer walking in front of the shop (lol).

I visited a fisherman's restaurant in Wakkanai, where I had to wait for 45 minutes as there were already 10 groups ahead of me. Once seated, I ordered sea urchin rice bowl, octopus sashimi, and scallop sashimi, which arrived promptly. The octopus was fresh and chewy, reflecting Wakkanai's reputation for the highest catch of octopus in Japan. As for the sea urchin, it was beautifully arranged and tasted sweet without any fishy smell. I have tried sea urchin in various places in Hokkaido, but this restaurant offered the best value for money!

Located at the northernmost tip of our country in Wakkanai, at Nosappu Cape, this restaurant offers an Uni (sea urchin) bowl that costs 2,200 yen. It is quite absurd considering that you can buy the same amount of Uni (without rice) at a nearby souvenir shop for 2,450 yen. The Uni bowl here is a great value for money, especially with the addition of scallops in the miso soup and pickles that smell like the sea. The Uni itself is of high quality, with a deliciously plump texture. I finished it in no time! Eating an Uni bowl here, then watching the sunset at Nosappu Cape, is definitely a must-do experience. It was great to see the owner and hostess, who seemed to be in good health after more than a decade. Thank you for the wonderful meal.

Located at Nosappu Cape in Wakkanai, which is almost the northernmost point of Japan, there is a shop next to a fish market that also serves as a dining area. First, you place your order and pay at the fish market, then you wait in the adjacent room. Soon after, a sea urchin rice bowl and scallop sashimi arrived. The sea urchin rice bowl was impressive, with fresh and abundant uni that exceeded the expectations set by reviews on Tabelog. Not only was the presentation remarkable, but it also came with a miso soup with scallops. All of this for the price of 2,200 yen is a shocking deal, especially considering the thick and plentiful scallops included. The taste was exceptional, as expected.

On the 7th day of my camping trip in Hokkaido, I woke up early to have a seafood bowl at this restaurant. The shop is located on the first floor of an apartment building, with the left side for ordering, the right side for dining, and the left side again for payment - a confusing system that made me worry about dine and dash incidents. I ordered a sea urchin and salmon roe bowl, and also added octopus sashimi, which is famous here. It was delicious! There's no way it could taste bad. The seafood here is so good that I'm worried I won't be able to go back to the sashimi at my local supermarket once I return home.

For those who love sea urchin, definitely worth it. It's about a 4-hour drive from Asahikawa, but this sea urchin bowl is only 2,200 yen. The cost performance is amazing. I can't compare it to others, but I wonder why it's so good? Anyway, it was so delicious that it melts in your mouth! The miso soup also had a rich flavor, so it's worth the distance. I wanted to try the grilled fish too, so I'm willing to make the trip again despite the distance!

Wakkanai gourmet sea urchin bowl 2,200 yen The shop near the previous day's Karafuto Shokudo opens at 8am, so I had a light sea urchin bowl for breakfast here. It was delicious. The fact that this bowl is priced at this level is also appreciated. I didn't know that Wakkanai's seafood was of such high quality. Having my favorite sea urchin bowl day after day is just too much happiness.

This is the first shop in Wakkanai. There is a famous shop called Karafuto Shokudo nearby, but I thought it would be crowded, so I decided to visit this shop instead. As I headed towards the shop, the left side was a sales area and the right side seemed to be a dining area. When I entered the dining area and waited, an older lady came and told me to order at the sales area. It seems that's how the system works here. Upon closer inspection, there was a sign at the entrance of the dining area saying "Please place your order at the sales area." I ordered Uni-don and a sashimi platter at the sales area, along with a canned beer for my wife. Considering the current situation, it was quite reasonable. I returned to the dining area and waited. When we arrived, there was only one group of two men as customers, but gradually more people started to arrive, probably all found this place online. Everyone seemed to be ordering Uni-don. Eventually, a man brought the dishes on a tray. He placed the canned beer on the table and asked, "Are you driving?" My wife replied that she would be the only one drinking and driving, to which the man asked, "You want to drink, right?" Without hesitation, she said, "Yes, I want to drink." The man replied, "I thought so. I want to drink too," and then left. The Uni-don was beautifully arranged in a circle, looking delicious. I tried it without soy sauce first. The sweetness and umami of the Uni spread gently in my mouth, very delicious. Adding soy sauce and wasabi made it even more delicious. The sashimi was quite a generous portion. Perhaps it was shrimp. It was moist and delicious. There was also Uni on this dish. Lastly, I placed the remaining rice on top of the Uni sashimi and enjoyed it until the end. Thank you for the meal.

I visited on the last day of Obon. I arrived at 8 o'clock, but there were about ten groups ahead of me. I placed my order and waited in my car. It seems that sea urchin fishing was on hold during Obon, so I had a seafood bowl and grilled dishes. The sea urchin was delicious, even though it was a small portion. The hot scallops and turban shells were also delicious. Next time, I will visit outside of Obon.

This time, I went car camping with my friend and we had some great eats! My friend loves hearty meals, and so do I! We had some amazing sea urchin rice bowls, recommended by a friend on Facebook. I also couldn't resist trying the scallops. It was a delicious meal!

I visited the "Fisherman's Shop" at the tip of Nosappu Cape in Wakkanai City, Hokkaido. Of course, I came here to enjoy the ultimate delicacy of this trip, the "Uni Donburi" (Sea Urchin Bowl). This year, the Uni from Rishiri-Rebun is expensive, but since the fishermen here catch it themselves, they offer it at the usual price. The menu was all very affordable and tempting. I wanted to try everything. I ordered the "Uni Donburi" with scallop miso soup and pickles for 2,000 yen (tax included). Everything is self-service here. It's an unbelievable deal, so no complaints. I have nothing more to say. A million grains of Uni! (The background music playing is "A Million Roses" by Otoki-san!) I realized halfway through that the Uni's flavor is clearer without soy sauce. Well, that's fine too. It's a lesson for next time. It was wonderful. I'm glad to be alive! Pong!

This shop is located in Wakkanai City, Hokkaido. I visited Wakkanai unexpectedly. They open at 8:00 in the morning. The shop is divided into two separate stores, with ordering done on the left and dining on the right. I ordered the sashimi set. It arrived in about 10 minutes. It included sea urchin, salmon, yellowtail, shrimp, squid, scallop, octopus, scallop miso soup, rolled kelp, and pickles. It may not look luxurious in the photos, but it's quite a lot. And all of this for 1,200 yen! I think it's a better deal than the hotel breakfast. This is the best restaurant in the northernmost part!

I wanted to eat real sea urchin, so I had a sea urchin bowl with plenty of fresh bafun sea urchin. The sweetness and richness of the sea urchin were amazing, with no hint of any unpleasant smell. Usually, I get tired of eating seafood dishes, but I could keep eating this sea urchin forever. The scallops were also fantastic as always. The unique texture of the live scallops, with a slight chewiness, is just perfect. I also tried the yellowtail, but it seemed to be pickled as it's not in season. It's true that eating seasonal dishes is the best choice.

In mid-June on a weekday around 1 pm, my wife and I visited this restaurant in Wakkanai for lunch. It was our first time in Wakkanai, and we had planned to have lunch at this restaurant. However, when we inquired at the car rental shop, we were advised to call ahead as some restaurants may not be open on weekdays during this time of the year. So, we called ahead before visiting. Luckily, there were only two motorcyclists as customers when we arrived. The process was to order at the fish market on the left side and then have the food brought to the dining area on the right side. I ordered the Bafun Uni Don for 2,500 yen, and my wife ordered the seafood bowl for 1,500 yen. Interestingly, my wife usually dislikes Uni, so she opted for the seafood bowl instead. However, I convinced her to try a bite of the Uni without telling her what it was, and she was surprised by the delicious taste of the fresh Uni without the strong flavor. Even I, who rarely have access to Uni without the use of preservatives, thoroughly enjoyed the true taste of Uni. Wakkanai is truly wonderful.

There was a holiday and it was crowded, but since there are only 3 seats, I waited in my car until it was my turn, so it wasn't crowded. I ordered the usual sashimi set and grilled squid. This time, the sashimi set did not come with sea urchin, which was disappointing. Maybe they kept the price the same by doing that... But overall, it's still a delicious and affordable restaurant that I'm satisfied with.

I visited around 1:00 pm. The restaurant was full, so I waited in the car for about 20 minutes. The interior had about 5 tables and had a simple, cafeteria-like atmosphere. The menu included dishes like sea urchin, seafood bowl, and grilled fish set. You could also order scallops, squid, fish, and grill them on the table's stove. I ordered the sea urchin and salmon roe bowl (2000 yen). It came with miso soup and pickles. It arrived in about 15 minutes. Despite the crowded restaurant, the staff were efficient. The sea urchin and salmon roe were fresh and delicious, with a sweet taste. The portion size was satisfying. Overall, the restaurant had a cafeteria-like vibe and offered delicious sea urchin at a very affordable price. I felt it was a great value for the money.

The 6th stop on the Wakkanai tour is here. A renowned seafood restaurant at Nosappu Cape, known for its fisherman's cuisine. Nearby, you can find the Nosappu Aquarium. I arrived before 10 am on a weekday. There were 2 customers already seated and no one behind me. I usually don't have breakfast, but today was a special occasion. I ordered the grilled fish set meal (upgraded to a large hokke for an additional 100 yen) for 1400 yen. I believe the dried fish is homemade. On the day of my visit, I could choose from grilled hokke, suzuki flounder, flathead flounder, dried saury, or dried herring. You place your order at the fish market next to the dining area before being seated. Payment is made after the meal. Tourists may opt for sea urchin or salmon roe bowls, but I was there for the grilled fish set. Grilled fish isn't a common dish at my home lately. Here, they dry the fish caught at Maehama beach and grill it right in front of you. I didn't know I had to grill it myself. Oh no! Grilling over direct heat is something I haven't done in years, and it was my first time using a roaster, so I was unsure of the heat level. I was afraid, so I took it off the grill early, and it was half-cooked. But since it was dried fish, it wasn't a big deal. Along with the freshly grilled fish, the set meal also includes sashimi, miso soup, pickled daikon, and rice. The previous customer mentioned that the rice wasn't enough, and I agree. They had the seafood bowl, but I preferred the simmered flounder. It was delicious! They open from 8 am, so skipping breakfast at the hotel and coming here is also a good idea. With fewer tourists due to the pandemic, now is the time to visit. Bon appétit!

In September in Wakkanai. The sun in the afternoon was a bit strong, got off the bus and walked a little to arrive. Waited for 3 minutes, had a delicious sashimi set and scallop grill. A Ezo deer appeared in front of me, peacefully eating grass nearby. The scallops were delicious. But something was missing.
