It's a lively Korean restaurant! The chef cooks Samgyupsal right in front of you while sitting on a drum can surrounded by a hot plate, creating a very appetizing atmosphere. The photo is of a delicious Nira Chijimi. Be sure to visit with a large group!

Today, before celebrating my friend's birthday at The Public Stand Ueno, I came to Tonchan with my Korean friend to eat samgyeopsal. Actually, the first time I was impressed by samgyeopsal was at Tonchan Ueno. About 10 years ago, during the Korean boom, I wanted to try authentic samgyeopsal and Tonchan was also popular at that time, so I have memories of coming to Tonchan Ueno. I really like Tonchan's samgyeopsal for its consistent deliciousness and the style of grilling it. The namul keeps coming to the table so I end up drinking a lot of chamisul. I also love the Korean steamed egg and always end up ordering it. The jeon is also delicious. I drank too much chamisul. I forgot to take photos halfway through, but I ended up really full. Thank you for the meal.

I visited Tonchan, a Korean restaurant in Ueno. This place is always crowded, but I found out that Sunday nights are a hidden gem! Plus, they're open until 5 in the morning, so if you ever crave samgyeopsal late at night, this is the place to go. Tonchan has a wide variety of menu options! I ordered samgyeopsal, yukkejang, and chijimi. Since there was no spiciness level indicated for yukkejang, I requested it to be very spicy verbally. Yukkejang at a Korean restaurant is always on point. It's packed with ingredients and they made it quite spicy! The soup is rich and delicious. It goes well with rice, and it's just so tasty that I couldn't stop eating! This might be the best yukkejang soup I've ever had. I can see why it's so popular. I want to come back again and try different Korean dishes. Save this if you found it helpful! ✅

Yesterday's cheers at Ueno New Year's party (1st stop) ❤️ #Samgyupsal #Jijimi #Cheers. Tonchan Ueno store. You can choose from a variety of meats for the style of raw samgyupsal and raw pork harami (no photo). The jijimi had only green onions as ingredients, but it was deliciously sticky and chewy ✨. Today, I visited a samgyupsal restaurant called "Tonchan Ueno" where I had a delicious meal in the past in Shin-Okubo. There used to be long lines at this restaurant, but today it was not crowded, so we were able to walk in immediately. I couldn't resist and ordered 6 servings of raw samgyupsal and leek pancake with 3 people. We will save the fried rice and bibim noodles for next time. The Nepalese staff members were efficient and we enjoyed our meal. Thank you for the delicious food.

Located in the bustling district of Ueno, the area around the restaurant may not have the best safety, and the customer service is not that great, but the food is delicious! Plus, the portions seem bigger than other similar restaurants. The raw samgyeopsal is incredibly tasty, but the negi chijimi we ordered with a coupon was absolutely delicious.

I felt like eating Samgyeopsal, so I searched for a restaurant that was still open near the last train. When I entered the restaurant, it felt like a place specifically for Samgyeopsal, as a set of Samgyeopsal was brought to us without even ordering. We ordered the meat and Sunny lettuce for the number of people. Surprisingly, the Sunny lettuce and kimchi were all-you-can-eat besides the meat. The staff cooked all the meat for us, carefully adjusting the heat, so we could enjoy the Samgyeopsal in a delicious state. I couldn't resist ordering more meat. I definitely want to come back again!

In November 2019, I visited Tonchan for the first time at the Ueno branch, although I had been to the Shin-Okubo and Shibuya branches before. I was in the vicinity of Ueno and felt like having some samgyupsal after a long time, so I searched and found Tonchan. Tonchan has a reputation for being cheap and delicious. It was a Saturday dinner time, and we were able to enter with just one group waiting. We ordered two servings of samgyupsal, which came with a variety of side dishes, making us happy. The staff cooked the meat in front of us, and we just had to wait for it to be done. The pork was tender and delicious. We enjoyed it so much that we ordered an additional serving, finishing three servings between two people. The smell is strong, so you may want to be careful with the clothes you wear. It was delicious. Thank you for the meal!

If you want to go for stable and delicious Samgyupsal, "Tonchan" is the place to be. For me, ordering "Vegetable Samgyupsal" is a luxury treat that I indulge in only occasionally. I enjoy pairing the pork belly with lettuce, green onions, kimchi, and garlic dipped in miso, all while sipping on Korean beer like Makgeolli and Chamisul. It's a great way to recharge with nutrients from the pork and kimchi. I am grateful to Tonchan for the wonderful experience.

I wanted to eat Samgyeopsal after a long time, so I went to the popular restaurant Tonchan in Ueno! I arrived just 5 minutes before opening, but there were already about 2 groups waiting. The chairs, tables, and Samgyeopsal grill were unique, making it feel like I was in Korea. I ordered the raw Samgyeopsal set and the rare Yangnyeom Gejang. Before the raw Samgyeopsal set arrived, we were served kimchi, namul, and other side dishes, which were all free for refills, which made me happy. The staff cooked and cut the Samgyeopsal for us, making it easy to eat. The meat was quite thick, and when wrapped in lettuce, it had a satisfying texture. The Yangnyeom Gejang was very spicy and hard to eat... my hands got sticky, but the raw crab was delicious and generous in portion! The staff's service was fast, and personally, I think this restaurant deserves a higher rating on food review sites. If you're craving Korean food, this is the place to go!

I visited with a few friends after making a reservation. It was a chain restaurant, and this time we went to the Ueno branch. The samgyupsal was delicious as always. The restaurant was lively even though it was daytime. The side dishes were also tasty. Thank you for the meal.

I recently tried Samgyupsal and I really liked it! We had Samgyupsal, a serving of Negi Chijimi, and Makgeolli for three people, and it cost around 11,000 yen, which is pretty reasonable!

I went to Tonchan in Ueno. When you think of Tonchan, you think of Samgyupsal. We received a lot of lettuce leaves and had a healthy meal. The chijimi was delicious. Thank you for the meal.

I ordered the basic Samgyupsal set. It came with not only Samgyupsal but also white kimchi, pickled radish, and seasoned vegetables, making it a great deal. The taste was delicious and the portion was quite generous, so I ended up feeling full just from that.

I have been coming here for over 10 years. I started coming here when I was a student, after a friend recommended it to me. I found it interesting that the chairs have a bucket-like compartment for storing belongings. I love the samgyupsal, negi chijimi, and kimchi fried rice here. I always enjoy the unlimited refills of side dishes like lettuce and spicy negi. I always take advantage of the coupon for a free negi chijimi with orders over 5,000 yen. The staff's broken Japanese (are they all Korean?) and the cute pig character somehow always make me feel at ease. Currently, they seem to be closed due to the state of emergency, but I definitely want to go back once they reopen.

Delicious unstoppable Korean cuisine, or rather Samgyeopsal. I can never have enough of Samgyeopsal. That was my meal for today. + Ondol Stone Three-layer Pork Set. I always leave the chili peppers behind, like a brave eater who has never seen it before! + Fried rice. I always save room for this because it's so delicious, I try not to eat too much rice just to have this. + Seolleongtang. When eating Korean cuisine, I always have to have soup. This time, I had a smaller menu and quickly enjoyed it!
