"Kushikatsu Eichan" opened in Shinjuku Sanchome in April this year, relocating from its popular location in Takadanobaba. It is located on the underground 2nd floor of Keio Front Building, directly connected to the underground passage. It shares the floor with the ramen restaurant "Hyakunichiso" and is next to "Il Baccaro". The menu consists of various kushikatsu and appetizers. They have events such as half-price drinks on Mondays, half-price drinks for women on Wednesdays, and kushikatsu for 90 yen and drinks for 290 yen until 6 p.m. The shop is not very spacious, with a few standing counters and about 10 chair seats. It is run by the owner and one female staff member. Cabbage is served as a starter. The sauce on the table is of course for dipping only. The kushikatsu is served quickly and the coating is crispy. It pairs well with the slightly spicy sauce, especially the ham katsu was very good. The red pickled ginger is unique to Kansai. The shrimp is large and juicy, and it was the most delicious kushikatsu. They also have a variety of side dishes such as "Ume Suisho" and "Gyuu Bara no Tsumami". It's fun to try different flavors of Kinmiya shochu. Perhaps due to its location, some people enjoy standing and drinking quickly before leaving. Although the shop seems smaller than its Takadanobaba days, the location is convenient and easy to use.

Today, I visited a kushikatsu restaurant that I had been wanting to go to. I wanted to verify the hypothesis that kushikatsu is incredibly delicious everywhere. When I arrived around 6pm, about 1/3 of the seats were already taken. I started with a beer for a toast. The service from the waitress was great – a bit slow but very polite. We ordered a variety of kushikatsu, all of which were good but not significantly different from Kushikatsu Tanaka. However, the real highlight of this restaurant is the simmered dishes! You can choose from 4 types of simmered dishes with 4 different seasonings, and they are all delicious! Simmered dishes are like the face of a restaurant, and every place seems to put effort into them, but the simmered dishes at Ei-chan's are truly amazing! Another standout dish was the dotenabe. The beef tendon dotenabe seasoned with miso was absolutely fantastic. Ei-chan's is definitely a great place for drinking. We ate to our heart's content for around 4500 yen. It's a place I would like to visit again on a whim.

The basic concept is standing-only, but there are also a few seats available. The skewers are slightly smaller than in Takadanobaba, but they are consistently delicious! The beer is cold and tasty too! The meat dish at the end is also delicious! They also have a variety of rice bowl dishes. It's a casual place where you can easily stop by!

I visited "Kushikatsu Eichan" for dinner, which is directly connected to Shinjuku-sanchome Station in Shinjuku, Tokyo. I arrived around 4:45 pm on a weekday and there was only one other customer. The restaurant has three 2-person tables, a few counter seats, outdoor seating for 6, and standing counter space for about 3 people. Although I had heard it was a popular spot from a friend, I was able to easily get a table at this early hour. I thought any freshly fried kushikatsu would be delicious, but the kushikatsu here was really amazing. The ingredients, portion size, and frying technique were all top-notch. The side dishes were also delicious. I definitely want to visit again. Thank you for the meal.

I wanted to drink during the subtle time between day and night, so I visited this place. Just like last time, I didn't feel any heaviness from the kushikatsu here, so I could easily eat as many skewers as I wanted. As a result, I had a draft beer, two large beers, and left the restaurant feeling pretty good. Thank you for the meal.

I visited Kushikatsu Eichan for the second time. I was moderately drunk, but couldn't help but eat too much once I saw the food. The pickled ginger kushikatsu had a delicious flavor different from regular pickled ginger, so I ordered more. It went well with Yamazaki Highball.

I visited this place because I wanted to have some crispy kushikatsu. We started with a toast with beer, and then we placed our order on paper. The recommended items are oyster and plain fried chicken, but all the kushikatsu here are crispy and light, so you can have as many as you want. They also offer a larger size drink for double the price but triple the amount, so if you can handle alcohol, give it a try!

A popular kushikatsu restaurant that relocated from Takadanobaba to Shinjuku Sanchome. The taste is authentic Kansai style and absolutely delicious. It's way better than a certain chain restaurant, but it's sometimes too crowded to go, which is a downside because it's a favorite spot. The large oysters, scallops, and squid are amazing! The fried chicken is also big and cheap. The best!

Overall, the prices were very cheap and the cost performance was excellent! The mochi and cheese were delicious. The interior of the restaurant did not feel too cramped. The lotus root had a crunchy texture and was tasty. The doteyaki was seasoned to my liking!

Located in the underground mall near Shinjuku Sanchome Station, there is a standing bar called Kushikatsu. I've never tried a beer ball at an izakaya before, so I decided to order it along with some kushikatsu and started standing and drinking. Despite the friendly guidance from the staff on how to pour the beer ball starting with carbonated water, I, who doesn't listen well to others, poured the beer ball first, resulting in a huge overflow of foam like crab bubbles! Lesson learned - always listen to others! I thought beer balls were just okay when I tried them at home, similar to hoppy, but drinking it at the bar with crispy kushikatsu made it taste delicious in a whole different way! ^ ^

Former subordinates and I used to come up with cunning plans together. We often went on business trips to Osaka, where we found a place called "Eichan" known for its delicious skewers and doteyaki. It's great that they are open all day. The location can be a bit tricky to find, so it's usually not too crowded, unlike other street-side shops in the area. I tried the doteyaki for the first time, and it was delicious!

Today, I took advantage of the happy hour until 6 PM. Skewers are 90 yen each up to 170 yen (excluding tax), and drinks, except for some, are all 290 yen each (200 yen for Nakas). I ate 23 skewers and had 10 drinks (one person had Hoppy) for a little over 5,000 yen with two people. The owner and his mother are running the place. You can order drinks verbally and write down food orders on paper. They have a TV with baseball and horse racing broadcasts. Sometimes they tweet out special deals on Twitter.

"Kushikatsu Eichan in Shinjuku Sanchome, located in the basement of Keio Fronte, is a new kushikatsu restaurant. They are currently running a campaign where kushikatsu is only 90 yen each until 6:00 PM every day! They offer unique items like dashi tamagoyaki skewers and umeboshi skewers. The food is seriously salty and goes well with drinks! They also have a Mega Highball, which is great. Highly recommended. #HighballMonster"

It has become a popular spot to stop by after watching a movie. You can drink from noon on weekdays and weekends, and until 6 p.m. there is a happy hour with great deals on both food and drinks! You can sit in a chair while glancing at the line for Momijigari, and there is also a standing space available (same price). There is one TV. You order drinks verbally and write down your food order on paper. The restaurant is run by two people, the owner and his wife. We had 6 drinks, 16 skewers, and it came to a little over 3,500 yen for two people.

Shinjuku Sanchome. After finishing my planned meal and shopping in Shinjuku Sanchome, I entered a building and found a catchy sign! It was the place that Mairevi-san used to go, Eichan! Alright! Let's go try it out. The prices are 90 yen for skewers and 290 yen for drinks. I told the Kansai dialect-speaking staff that I can't drink alcohol before entering, and they accepted it. Today's order (excluding tax): Pork 90 yen, Ham cutlet 90 yen, Chicken thigh 90 yen, Quail egg 90 yen, Scallop 220 yen, Pepsi Cola 290 yen. The food was light and easy to eat with a crispy texture. The complimentary cabbage was a nice touch. Perfect for a quick bite while on the move. Pepsi and fried food, the best combination! I could have eaten 5 more skewers, but I'm on a diet... The sauce was sweet, which I liked. Thank you for the meal!

I visited this place again after my first visit because the food was so delicious - not greasy, crispy, light, and just perfect. I can't remember everything I ordered this time, but the highlights were the reliable beef skewers, juicy prawns, fluffy dashimaki tamago, tasty red sausages, quail eggs, gooey cheese, perfectly paired pork with sauce, tender squid, and juicy ham cutlet. The deep-fried skewers here are light, crispy, and not greasy at all, making them easy to eat. The seasoning and cooking are just right, making them really delicious. The sauce, limited to two dips, is not too sweet and complements the skewers well. I've been to various skewer restaurants during my business trips to Osaka, but this place might have the best skewers. The miso in the beef tendon doteyaki is slightly sweet but not overpowering, and the beef tendon is melt-in-your-mouth delicious. However, the seasoning in the meat dish was a bit light this time, and I personally prefer a stronger broth flavor. Although I missed it this time, it's worth noting that if you order before 6 pm, you can get a single skewer for 90 yen (up to 170 yen) and drinks for 290 yen regardless of the day of the week, making it a great deal. The restaurant is small and cozy, with both standing and seated options, and the staff is friendly, creating a pleasant atmosphere to enjoy delicious skewers.

7/14 Cloudy ⇔ Rain Sometimes it rains quite a bit. Because of that, I looked for a place to relax in the underground shopping area. I found a table for two along the wall. There are also counter seats and a standing drinking corner at the counter. There are tables outside the store as well. For drinks, I had a Hoppy Black. The appetizer was cabbage. There were no chopsticks on the table, so I wondered how to eat the cabbage. Should I just grab it with my hands? But using chopsticks and dipping it in sauce might be unhygienic. There was also a bottle of spicy sauce on the table, so I decided to use that as well. For food, I had beef skewers, eel, kiss (small fish), cheese, ham cutlet, and pickled plum. The cheese was not melted, the ham had a slightly tangy sausage-like flavor. The pickled plum was very sour. The kiss was not fishy at all. The squid was extremely tender, maybe they made special cuts in it?

A popular kushikatsu restaurant in Takadanobaba closed down and reopened in Shinjuku Sanchome. I had heard about the reopening and finally got a chance to visit. I started with a highball and enjoyed the cabbage appetizer while deciding on my order. I chose onion, ginnan (ginkgo nuts), red Vienna sausage, pickled ginger, pork, quail eggs, and eringi mushrooms, focusing on more affordable options. The batter was light and not greasy, making it easy to eat. I used to frequent their previous location for late-night meals, and now that they are conveniently located near the station, it's a great option for a second stop on a night out.

The popular kushikatsu restaurant, Eichan, in Takadanobaba was always crowded, with shelves lined with Kinmiya sake bottles kept by regular customers. I've known Eichan since it opened in Takadanobaba about 13-14 years ago. Unfortunately, due to the pandemic, Eichan was forced to close two years ago. Yesterday, I heard that Eichan had reopened in Shinjuku San-chome. I visited the new location and was happy to reunite after three years. The new place is smaller, with an L-shaped counter and a few tables. I ordered my usual highball and wrote down my preferred kushikatsu choices on a piece of paper. No double dipping in the sauce, of course! The menu included cabbage, yam, onion, lotus root, shiitake mushroom, asparagus, quail, shrimp, beef kushikatsu, chicken thigh, beef harami, beef liver, and cucumber pickles. I also tried their highball and delicious tomato sour. Eichan seemed to be doing well, and I was glad to see them making a fresh start. Cheers to new beginnings!

Occasionally, I have a craving for kushikatsu. After a disappointing visit to "Iguchi" recently, I decided to try "Kushikatsu Eichan," a kushikatsu restaurant run by a chef from Osaka. The restaurant is located in the basement of Shinjuku Sanchome Fuente, diagonally across from Isetan, and it has a small, cozy atmosphere with about 6 counter seats and 2 table seats. The ordering system involves writing down your choices on a slip of paper and handing it to the staff. Surprisingly, from opening until 6 pm, kushikatsu is only 90 yen each (for items up to 170 yen), and drinks are a flat rate of 290 yen. They also offer half-price drinks on Mondays and Ladies' Night with half-price drinks every Wednesday. We ordered a variety of kushikatsu, including pork, shiitake mushrooms, onions, lotus root, red ginger, quail eggs, eggplant, oysters, eringi mushrooms, octopus, cheese, shrimp, sardines, asparagus, and shishito peppers. The standout items were the lotus root, eggplant, oysters, and octopus. We also tried the wasabi-pickled yam and cucumber pickles as appetizers, which were flavorful. Overall, the kushikatsu was delicious, especially considering the affordable prices. We ended our meal with a refreshing plum and shiso leaf rice bowl and a small portion of meat udon. Despite the slightly high total bill, we were satisfied with the quality and quantity of food we enjoyed. We look forward to returning, perhaps on Ladies' Night to indulge even more.

I heard that the popular kushikatsu restaurant Eichan in Takadanobaba has relocated to the basement (2nd floor underground) of Shinjuku Sanchome Fronte, and I had been wanting to go there for a while. Whenever I feel like eating kushikatsu, I usually only go to Tatsukichi in Shinjuku Sanchome (or Hibiya Midtown), but I also love the kushikatsu in Osaka, where double dipping in the sauce is prohibited. Whenever I visit Osaka for work, I always go with my colleagues, and sometimes I even go alone before taking the Shinkansen back because I love Osaka's kushikatsu so much. However, I haven't been able to eat it lately, so I was really happy to find this place. Moreover, this restaurant offers kushikatsu for 90 yen (for skewers up to 170 yen) until 6 pm every day, including weekends, and drinks for 390 yen (some exceptions apply), so it was a great deal when I visited just before 6 pm. I ordered skewers with shrimp, squid, pork, red wiener, cheese, quail, and ham cutlet, and then I had another skewer each of squid and pork, so I ended up eating a total of 10 skewers. They were all crispy and not greasy, freshly fried, and the shrimp and squid were perfectly cooked without being dry. The sauce is placed on the table since this restaurant follows the Osaka style of no double dipping, but they also provided salt (yakishio) on the table, so you can enjoy the skewers with salt if you prefer a lighter taste. I also ordered doteyaki (beef sinew) and nikumaki (beef wrapped in pork), and I really love doteyaki with beef sinew, and the miso flavor here was slightly sweet and exactly to my liking. The beef sinew was so tender and delicious! I was already full from the kushikatsu, so I only had one skewer, but I thought I would have about three skewers on my next visit because it was so delicious! The nikumaki, despite being a small portion, had a lot of beef inside and had a gentle and elegant Kansai-style seasoning, which was also very tasty! There are steel chairs at the table seats and standing counter seats available. The atmosphere is more suited for a quick drink at the first or second bar rather than sitting down and drinking slowly, but the owner and staff were very friendly and provided excellent service with a smile, making it a pleasant experience to enjoy delicious kushikatsu. When you feel like having Osaka-style kushikatsu in Shinjuku, I highly recommend this place. It was so delicious that I will definitely visit again soon! Thank you for the meal.
