Thursday. I went to Yodobashi Camera in front of Ikebukuro Station. I also wanted to go to Sunshine, so I decided to have an early lunch first. If I came all the way to Yodobashi Camera, I thought I might as well go to Kushikatsu Monogatari. I hadn't had breakfast, so it was just right. Let's eat a lot! The restaurant floor opens at 11 am. I arrived just before 11:30 am. The first person to arrive was a man dining alone. I was the second to enter. After that, customers kept coming in one after another. The system is all-you-can-eat for 90 minutes. Drinks and alcohol are ordered separately. Kushikatsu, rice dishes, and desserts are all-you-can-eat. Meat options include beef, chicken, chicken thigh, sausage, seafood like squid, shrimp, scallops. There was a variety of vegetables as well. In addition, there were items like takoyaki, cheese spring rolls, mini taiyaki that could also be considered desserts. Unfortunately, pork, which is essential for kushikatsu (in my opinion), is not available for lunch. So, I focused on beef, chicken, squid, shrimp, lotus root, onions, sausage, and others, and fried and ate as much as I could. The temperature seemed to be automatically set, so you just need to coat the items with batter and breadcrumbs and dip them in the fryer. The items are small, so they cook quickly. Be careful not to overcook. Once fried, let them sit for a bit to finish cooking and to drain the oil. There was a wide variety of sauces to choose from. The basic sauce was a sweet one similar to tonkatsu sauce, and the spicy sauce was more like Worcestershire sauce. There were also grated radish sauce, cheese sauce, tartar sauce, and more. I think there were over 30 types of items to choose from. It's fun to choose and fry your own food. The rice dishes included ochazuke and curry. Noodle options were yakisoba and pasta. There was also soup available. They had white rice and butter rice. The dessert table had a salad bar, mini cakes, fruits, jellies, and even a chocolate fountain. You could dip marshmallows, cream puffs, etc., in the chocolate and add various toppings. Finally, I had soft-serve ice cream. You have to do it yourself, but I'm not very good at it (laughs). The rate of solo diners was low, but it's easy to walk in, so it's good if you want to eat a lot of fried food. The total bill was 1650 yen including tax. You can also pay with electronic money or smartphone payments. I used PayPay to pay. It was fun to enjoy self-service kushikatsu after a long time. Thank you for the meal.
