I heard from my drinking buddies that there is a sake pass at Kushikatsu Tanaka, and until August 31st, the kushikatsu is only 100 yen! I have to go! It seems that if you buy the pass for 500 yen, any drink under 400 yen will always be 199 yen for a whole month. I checked online and it seems like it's a credit card payment, and it will automatically renew after a month. I thought it might be a hassle to input the information, and also if the place is crowded and I can't get in, I won't be able to use the pass, so I decided to just go to the restaurant. It was about 80% full but there were two seats available. When I asked the staff about the drink pass, they said I could pay in cash on the spot, which was convenient! I signed up right away. The draft beer for 199 yen was a great deal. Even the Chinchirorin was included. But I didn't play Chinchirorin because if you don't get a special roll, you have to pay double the amount, and also because the sake pass doesn't change if you get half price. I ordered a variety of kushikatsu, and my favorites were the thick-cut yam, whole asparagus, large scallops, shrimp, oyster, pork cutlet, beef cutlet, and lotus root. They were all delicious. The red-capped salt on the table should be upgraded to a better quality salt. The other kushikatsu items were also tasty. The cabbage appetizer was refillable. The total bill for two people was around 7000 yen. I'm glad I bought the sake pass!

I went with my friends. It was 100 yen for kushikatsu that day, so we ordered a variety of things. Personally, I liked the shiso-flavored skewers because they were light. I could do without the shrimp and cheese. The takoyaki would have been even better with tenkasu added, but it's not a big deal. I had a great time, so I think I'd be willing to go back again.

Tonkatsu Tanaka is a restaurant that I have frequented multiple times, but I find their highballs and chu-his to be excessively diluted and watery. My companions also share the same sentiment. While the 2-hour time limit is not an issue, the last order being at 1 hour and 20 minutes in is too early. I don't think I will be using this franchise again.
