Today, I had a day off from work so I went to Shinjuku. I usually cook at home, but I don't fry food often, so I decided to have some fried food for lunch. I chose Washou for lunch, which was a great deal. The Washou meal in the picture only cost ¥1,000, which is cheap. It's easy on the wallet. I really enjoyed the clam miso soup and ended up getting seconds. The staff were friendly and it was a good experience. I feel like I can work hard again starting tomorrow. "Thank you for the meal."

I bought it on my way home from Kizakura for the first time at Isetan on February 11, 2023. I asked the attendant. It was my first time to take out. I bought one tonkatsu and one menchikatsu. They are cheap. The tonkatsu is thick, but the meat is not very tasty. The menchikatsu is quite oily. However, since the price is cheap, I can't complain too much. It was heavy after sushi (bitter smile). It might be good as a side dish for rice on a non-drinking day. The evaluation is not high, but considering the occasion, it seems like it could be reused. It's not suitable as a snack with alcohol.

First of all, there is a review of the newly opened "Wako" in the basement of Isetan Annex and Isetan Kaikan, not the one on the food floor of Isetan. It has not been listed on Tabelog yet, so I am planning to make the correction. It moved from the Kino Kuniya underground mall to the basement of Isetan Kaikan and opened on October 26th. I visited for lunch on a day when there were no bento boxes. According to MyRebi, they prefer Katsudon because they have a dry mouth, but they like Kazuyuki because the white rice is always delicious like at a yakiniku restaurant. Since it is newly opened, there is a call button at each table, so you don't have to look around while enjoying your meal, which is convenient! Oh! That person seems to want a refill of cabbage, rice, or miso soup! Hurry up and notice them!! I was nervous and thought, "Excuse me! The customer over there is calling for something! It's probably for a refill!" but now I don't have to do that (^-^)v. The lunch set "Karin" for 1040 yen includes a bite-sized fillet cutlet, squid fry, and cheese-filled minced cutlet with rice, miso soup, and unlimited cabbage refills. Since it just opened, the staff explains things like "This one has tonkatsu sauce, and this one has cabbage dressing." At the end of the explanation, their innocence is charming. I asked for less rice because I wanted to refill cabbage and clam miso soup. There was also a special menu (until the 28th) with two loin and fillet cutlets for 1000 yen, but the "Karin" set was enjoyable with delicious items. Young people use the phrase "lost in the parent lottery (not born into a wealthy family)" it seems, but if you take a chance and end up with a disappointing lunch, it won't set you up well for work in the afternoon...(>人<;) In that sense, Kazuyuki provides a stable taste and satisfaction, so I am happy about the relocation and opening. Unfortunately, "Hage Ten" closed in Isetan Kaikan, but with the opening of "Tonkatsu Wako," MyRebi must be delighted as well (๑˃̵ᴗ˂̵)/

We purchased two orders of our favorite "Pork Loin Tonkatsu Don" (Rosu) for 1338 yen each, as well as two orders of "Pork Fillet Katsu Don" for 594 yen each, and enjoyed them for dinner with our family at home. The Rosu Katsu Don here is still delicious! The amount of fat in the meat is just right. Breaking the soft-boiled egg over the meat is a luxurious touch, isn't it? There is a price difference of more than double between the Rosu Katsu Don and the Hire Katsu Don, but the women in our family who prefer Hire Katsu say they are satisfied with it. However, my daughter and I exchanged one piece of Rosu Katsu for one piece of Hire Katsu. The Hire Katsu is also delicious. We were very satisfied. Thank you for the meal.

There are many options for katsudon, but when I don't feel like eating out or cooking myself, the best option for me is the bento box sold at Wako in Shinjuku Isetan B1. The quality of the tonkatsu is really good. Both the rosu katsudon for 702 yen and the hire katsudon for 594 yen are delicious, but my current favorite is the "Wabuta Mochibuta Niku Katsu Ju" (rosu) for 1338 yen. When my family has errands in the Shinjuku area, they bring this back for me. They also get a regular katsudon, so I can taste that too! You can buy takeaway items like tonkatsu bento at other Wako locations, but as far as I know, this katsudon is only available here. This is my second rosu katsudon of the year, with plenty of katsu and egg on top, along with a separate onsen tamago. It's so delicious. I prefer this over the rosu katsu nitsuke teishoku at the nearest Wako location. Thank you for the meal.

I had the fried fish fin bowl for 594 yen at a restaurant located in the basement food section of Isetan Shinjuku store, which has been around since the 1930s. The restaurant is a takeout place for bento and side dishes, and despite its small size and location in a narrow aisle, it is popular with customers. The fried fish fin was soft with a crispy coating, not greasy, and the topping of Mitsuba leaves and egg was cooked just right.

This Wako is a shop in the Depachika (basement floor) of Isetan Shinjuku, offering various fried dishes such as tonkatsu and bento boxes. While there is another Wako in the same department store in the restaurant area, this one is a takeout-only shop. I decided to go with the most standard-looking option, the "Rosukatsu Bento" priced at 648 yen including tax. It seemed to be the cheapest bento available. I have tried Wako before at another branch and enjoyed it, so I decided to give it another try. The price is a bit higher this time compared to when I bought it at another branch about two years ago for 616 yen, but this time it came with miso soup which was not included last time. Considering it is in the Depachika, the price is reasonable. I waited 1-2 hours before eating the bento without microwaving it. The bento consists of two tiers, one containing tonkatsu, shredded cabbage, and the other with rice. It also comes with a cup of miso soup, tonkatsu sauce, spicy sauce, and yuzu dressing. The tonkatsu is a normal size, with the coating still slightly crispy even after some time. The meat is not overly fatty, tender, and has a slight sweetness to it even when cold. The generous amount of shredded cabbage with dressing makes it feel like a salad. The rice is topped with seasoned seaweed and sesame seeds. The miso soup contains seaweed and wheat gluten. Overall, it has a larger portion compared to an average convenience store bento for the price of around 650 yen, which is quite good. Enjoy your meal!
