I went to have lunch at "Sandaimme Torimero" on the 6th floor of a building in front of JR Ryogoku Station! This restaurant, which is part of the Watami group, has started serving lunch, and the voluminous set meals are only 500 yen including tax! It's truly impressive how they put in the effort. Dishes such as chicken hitsumabushi, khao man gai, oil-drizzled chicken, karaage, and pork cold shabu all come with miso soup, small side dishes, and pickles for 500 yen. I was surprised by both the affordability and the portion size. The oil-drizzled chicken is delicious with a spicy green onion sauce, and it's a generous portion with just one piece of meat! I usually ask for less rice as shown in the photo, but they also offer free extra servings. They give you a sticker for every 500 yen you spend, and when you collect 5 stickers, you get a free drink, and 10 stickers get you a free lunch. On rainy days, they give you 2 stickers. The staff are also wonderful and very friendly, which is why I keep coming back. On this day, when I said "I don't need rice," they kindly gave me a Caesar salad instead! When I had asked for no rice before, they offered me a drink, but I declined as the prices are already very cheap. Their thoughtfulness is truly amazing. I always end up ordering the oil-drizzled chicken (because it's so delicious), but next time I'll try something else too. By the way, the person I was with ordered the hitsumabushi set meal. It was also very generous in size. Thank you for the meal! [Additional note] On another day, I ordered the karaage set meal (without rice). It comes with 4 types of sauces for flavor variation. Among the red circle sauce, green onion salt sauce, honey mustard, and mayonnaise, my favorites are the red circle and green onion salt sauces. However, the green onion salt sauce is quite strong in garlic, so be careful! 😄
