2023/04/25... Just like on 4/20, I passed the time and charged my phone while waiting to buy Penglai's pork buns. I stopped by for breakfast and got a Happy Meal with Sylvanian Families toys. It reminded me of my childhood, it was popular back in the Showa era, right? I realized that McDonald's salad is surprisingly delicious. I used to avoid eating fries because they're not good for my health, but I found out that salad is a better option in terms of cost and nutrition. It was tasty when I chose the salad. Maybe I've been lacking vegetables lately... (^_^;) wry smile

On April 20, 2023, I found out that "551 Horai" would be selling at an event in Ikebukuro. I got a numbered ticket while looking for a place to have breakfast and pass the time. I was impressed by the variety of options at McDonald's, where I usually order the Cheeseburger Happy Meal but this time I tried the Bacon Egg McMuffin for breakfast and even ordered a salad for the first time. I also noticed that you could add extra items to your meal for an additional charge. I usually don't care much for the toys that come with the meal, but this time I received a Tomica Choro-Q toy. It was a good way to charge my phone and pass the time while waiting.

When you bite into it, you first taste the fluffy garlic! Then the lingering black pepper! It's super delicious＼(^o^)／ And this definitely goes well with beer...! It's the perfect snack to go with alcohol, I wish they would serve it at izakayas♪ Also, the limited time only nugget sauces are amazing! Addictive Spicy Cheese Sauce and Rich Black Garlic Sauce, both are so delicious that they might be the best everヽ(=´▽`=)ﾉ This cheese sauce, I wish they would sell it in bottles＼(^o^)／

For Saturday lunch, I went to the McDonald's near Ikebukuro West Exit. It was crowded at the entrance counter, but the second floor was empty. I sat down inside and ordered with my mobile, and they brought the food to me, which was convenient. I ordered the Tsukimi Burger set and it was delicious. Thank you for the meal!

On April 20, 2022, revisited. On this day, I made my first radio appearance. The recording was scheduled for 11:00, which was a bit of an awkward time, so I almost ended up as a lunch refugee. The recording was in Hamamatsucho, and I was released before 12:00, so I returned to Ikebukuro around 12:30. When thinking about dinner (it was a no-alcohol day), I had to think quickly without beer. That's when I remembered this McDonald's. It had been a while since I visited the one at the West Exit. I thought a light meal like Eguchi would be good, so I ordered Eguchi and a small iced coffee, as well as a small vanilla milkshake. The total was 430 yen. Sometimes Eguchi is good, right? Since I didn't order fries, I don't have to worry too much about calories. It's crowded here. It was right at lunchtime. But there were overwhelmingly more people taking out. Is it because of the 2% difference in tax? The seating area was not that full. Eguchi is reliably delicious. Unlike in the past (a long time ago), it comes out with consistent quality. The McDonald's milkshake also tasted nostalgically delicious after a long time. But it will be a while before I go again. It's the company where I started my part-time job, so I support them somewhere in my heart. I will visit one of their stores again someday. Thank you for the meal.

Just outside the west exit of Ikebukuro Station, there is a McDonald's. It was quite crowded on a Saturday afternoon. I ordered a McChicken and a McShake. Personally, I really like McShakes and always order one when I go to McDonald's. The McChicken was freshly made and delicious.

I felt like having french fries and coffee, but it was still before 11 am, so only the morning menu was available. I can't remember the last time I had breakfast at McDonald's. The Ikebukuro Nishi-guchi store is located right in front of the station and is popular among students. I waited in line to place my order. Just like me, there were others who couldn't find their usual menu items. I used to always have the Egg McMuffin for breakfast. I ordered the Egg McMuffin set for 400 yen, which came with coffee and hash browns. Looking at the menu, I thought maybe trying one of the more indulgent sets would be nice. They are good sets that you can enjoy even as lunch approaches. It had been many years since my last visit, and the layout had completely changed. The option for single customers had become very convenient. I accidentally took the milk and sugar for the coffee. Sometimes I crave the McMuffin and make it at home with fried eggs, cheese, and bacon. Today's McMuffin had Canadian bacon, cheese, and a runny egg sandwiched inside. It's more satisfying than just a plain hamburger. I wondered what the difference was between the Bacon Egg McMuffin and the Bacon Egg McMuffin Sandwich, and it turned out to be the smoked bacon. The hash browns are only available in the morning. It's nice to have a reasonably priced breakfast that can also double as lunch.

Today's lunch was at McDonald's. There were about 10 customers in line. The great thing about McDonald's is that even when it's busy, you get your food in just about 5 minutes! Plus, right now you can get 30% off on a 15-piece nugget, which is a great deal. The Filet-O-Fish has soft buns and crispy fish, and the fries are always hot and crispy. It's always nice to be able to eat your food while it's still hot.

After drinking, I always crave ramen or ice cream as a finishing touch. So, in a tipsy mood, I decided to try the McFlurry (Black Thunder). It's been years since I last went to McDonald's... The commercial for this product emphasized the crunchy texture, and I have to say, it was indeed satisfying. Thank you for the meal.

I arrived a little early at the izakaya in the same building and decided to kill time at McDonald's. It's close to the west exit and always bustling with students. I love the BBQ sauce on the nuggets, so I ordered them again this day. The McDonald's nuggets have a unique flavor and were crispy since they were freshly fried, making them delicious.

In the morning, I had some free time so I decided to have McDonald's breakfast. The McDonald's near Ikebukuro West Exit Rotary had a long line extending outside. There was a Subway nearby, but as a country person, I found it intimidating to order there, so I didn't have the courage to go in. All the staff were wearing masks due to the influence of the coronavirus. I hope this situation ends soon. I ordered a Sausage Egg McMuffin set (450 yen) which included a Sausage Egg McMuffin, Hash Brown, and a Premium Roast Coffee (M). After paying, I was given a receipt with a number and waited on the right side of the counter. When my number was called, I took my tray and went upstairs. The McMuffin had a rough texture on the surface, and the chewy texture was delightful. The flavor of the sausage, egg, and sauce complemented each other well. The Hash Brown was consistently delicious, and the coffee in the medium size had a satisfying taste. I was full just from this meal. Thank you for the meal.

I went to McDonald's to try the limited menu items, the Samurai Mac and the Pudding Mac Shake. I chose the double thick beef patty for the Samurai Mac, which had a very meaty and savory flavor that paired well with the Japanese-style sauce. It was quite tasty. As for the Pudding Mac Shake, I also added caramel sauce. The pudding flavor was there, but it felt a bit watery.

The familiar town for me, Ikebukuro. At the west exit, there has always been a McDonald's since I came to Tokyo. I had some time to spare before my appointment and I was feeling a bit hungry. So, I decided to go to this restaurant. I ordered a cheeseburger and a Coke. I received my order, went upstairs to the seating area, and started to enjoy it immediately... Delicious! The familiar taste as always, the reassuring feeling that comes with a chain restaurant, it's great!

It's still early in the morning, just past 7 o'clock, but I found myself in Ikebukuro, a place I haven't visited in a long time, with the consequences of last night's antics hanging over me. I decided to have breakfast at McDonald's, feeling the tiredness of the bustling city. I ordered the Big Breakfast with a Sausage McMuffin, hoping to fill myself up. As I made my way to the second floor, I was surprised to see how crowded it was. Everyone was looking down at their phones, and there were groups of people, possibly Chinese, talking loudly. The place was filled with elderly customers too! It seemed like a long-term stay kind of place, as no one showed any intention of leaving their seats. At night, in the middle of the night, I know I shouldn't be eating this kind of thing, but when I received an email from the world's largest fast food chain saying they have a limited time offer for a Teriyaki Mac Burger set for only 500 yen, I just had to get it! I arrived at the store just before closing time at 12:45 AM and oh boy, the Teriyaki burger was so delicious! Actually, it's my favorite burger at McDonald's. It was a great deal and a satisfying meal!

Ikebukuro in the morning. I had breakfast, enjoyed the sauna, and still had time before my meeting, so I decided to use McDonald's for the first time in a while. I wanted to try the breakfast menu, but I wasn't that hungry, so I ordered pancakes with a side salad instead. It cost 600 yen... I realized that this was the first time I ordered pancakes instead of hotcakes. The pancakes were as expected, not bad. If I consider it as a place to kill time, it's fine, but I was hoping to find a nice old-style coffee shop to spend my morning.

Casually, the event of the Big Mac 4 Brothers was already over? Unaware of this, I gazed at the menu, but there was nothing missing. However, let's have the new Big Mac set as takeout and eat it in that park behind Birkin. I wonder what's new about it? It looks kind of plain compared to last time, maybe because the cherry blossoms aren't blooming. Oh well. But the fresh greenery and early summer breeze are also nice. Now, with this set, as I finish off the salty fries, the drink gets consumed, so I pour the Dr. Pepper I bought from the vending machine into the cup and eat the burger. I remember about ten years ago, every time I picked up and dropped off an American missionary grandpa, the conversation would turn to McDonald's. He would ask, "What are you eating at McDonald's, Miyashita-kun?" and I would answer, "A Big Mac," to which he would say, "That's a good choice, but the regulars eat the Quarter Pounder." Then he would ask, "What drink are you having?" and I would say, "Coke," and he would reply, "That's a good choice, but the regulars drink Dr. Pepper." Dr. Pepper isn't sold at McDonald's in our country, right? Another time, he mentioned Root Beer... but most people in Tokyo probably don't know about that, haha. I barely understood it from my experience in Okinawa. ...So that's why I'm making this purchase and pairing it like this. I still think Coke goes well with this though. Dr. Pepper goes better with Juroku Sushi... (I'm not saying that again, haha). The title is numbered in anticipation of a sequel, but I might forget and it might not continue.
