Upon arriving in Hokkaido, my first meal was at Tabibito Kitchen where I enjoyed bear steak and Ezo deer steak. The legendary potato fries were also amazing - they had a texture like pie crust, with a crispy skin and a fluffy interior. Personally, I'm not a big fan of game meat, but I had heard that bear meat and Ezo deer meat were not too gamey, so I wanted to try some local Hokkaido cuisine. The bear steak was meaty and the more you chewed, the more flavor came out. It was a solid piece of meat with no gaminess. The Ezo deer steak was tender and moist, with a high protein content and incredibly delicious. There was no gaminess or off-putting flavors. Overall, it was a satisfying experience to try bear and Ezo deer meat, unique to Hokkaido. I'm glad I came and I would love to visit again when in Sapporo. Thank you for the delicious meal! 🍽️

A famous actor from Hokkaido claimed that bear meat is the most delicious meat in the world, so I decided to try it at this restaurant. I ordered bear steak and venison. The bear meat had a unique flavor with a strong wild taste, but surprisingly it paired well with beer and by the second bite, I was already used to the flavor. It had a good amount of fat but still tasted healthy. The venison was slightly tougher compared to bear meat, showing how impressive bears are. However, it had no gamey taste and was the most delicious I've ever had. Each dish came with vegetables, so I didn't feel the need for a salad. The fried rice was also very tasty. Enjoying bear fried rice with a drink and then heading home sounds like a good idea.

I had already eaten seafood and ramen, so I was wondering what to have for dinner. Lately, I've been hooked on Golden Kamuy, so I decided to try bear meat at this place where there are several restaurants in a building. I made a reservation for the same day and visited. It's a one dish per person order system. This time, I planned to visit a few places, so I chose bear steak and decided to pass on the deer. For another dish, I went with a Hokkaido specialty, "ruibe," made from the head of an octopus. This goes well with sake. I started with a Sapporo Classic beer for a toast! It took about 20 minutes to wait for the steak to arrive. The bear steak was lean and had almost no fat, unlike the image of fatty bear meat I had in mind from eating bear shabu-shabu in Tokyo. It went well with red wine and was surprisingly tender and easy to eat. There were also sausages and deer meat available, but I wanted to visit another place, so I moved on after finishing the bear steak. The soba and sake restaurant at the back also looked nice. By the way, deer is called "momiji," horse is called "sakura," and boar is called "botan," but I wonder what bear is called.

During my trip to Sapporo, Hokkaido, I had the strong desire to try some game meat, which led me to visit @tabibito_kitchen_sapporo. This restaurant specializes in dishes made with bear and Ezo deer meat, such as steaks and sausages, all of which were truly delicious. Game meat used to have a strong gamey flavor that made it hard to eat in the past, but nowadays it has evolved and no longer has that unpleasant smell. Instead, it has a unique flavor that pairs well with alcohol. I also had the opportunity to try the Golden Kamuy-style "ruibe" dish, which was fantastic. #foodstagram #tabelogvipmember #instagramfood #deliciousrestaurant #SapporoGourmet #SapporoIzakaya #SapporoGameMeat #SusukinoGourmet #SusukinoIzakaya #SusukinoGameMeat #TanukikojiGourmet #TanukikojiIzakaya #GameMeatCuisine #GameMeatSpecialtyStore #EnjoyRuibeatthistore

Today, my usual go-to restaurant was closed, so I decided to try the restaurant right in front of me that I had been curious about. And it turned out to be a perfect match for me. I have always liked game meat such as bear and deer, and the meat here was exceptional. Not only the meat, but the fried potatoes and deer meat Bolognese were also very delicious and satisfying. I would love to visit again.

I finally got to visit the tabibito kitchen, a place I had always wanted to go. From the sign with pictures of deer and bear meat, I climbed the stairs and entered a somewhat different space. I was wondering where the restaurant was, as there was no clear signage, but eventually found a small sign. We were seated at a designated table. I ordered a Jack Daniel's ginger ale with a splash of gin, while my companion had sweet potato shochu. For food, we had deer and bear meat dishes. We had marinated deer tongue with ponzu sauce and Ezo brown bear steak. The deer tongue dish was refreshing with a light seasoning, and the deer meat had a distinct flavor. The Ezo brown bear steak took a while to cook, but when it arrived, it had a red color similar to deer meat and was not fatty. It was different from the bear meat I had tried before, which was usually fatty and rustic. I wanted to order a side of fat, but they were out of stock. The staff kindly suggested Ezo brown bear loin ham, which was uncooked but had a delicious flavor and good fat content. Highly recommended! I didn't have much time today, but I would love to come back and enjoy a leisurely meal next time.

Tabibito Kitchen
190th meal of the year
Today is July 29th, which is Meat Day, so I tried game meat for the first time at the restaurant.
Ordered menu:
- Higuma bear steak
- Ezo deer steak
- Pork cartilage dumplings
- Deer tongue with ponzu sauce
The game meat was not as gamey as I had imagined, making it easy to eat. It was lean and not too heavy. I actually quite liked it. The deer steak was really delicious. There were some people who seemed like travelers in the restaurant, talking about climbing mountains and such. It was fun. I will definitely go back.

I was drawn to the bear meat steak in front of the store and decided to go to Tabibito Kitchen. I tried the bear meat steak and deer meat steak. The bear meat steak wasn't as smelly as I thought it would be. It had a slight chewiness and a gamey taste, which was surprisingly delicious. The deer meat steak was incredibly tender and juicy, with meat juices dripping out. It was a hit with everyone. The thick-cut Marquis potatoes were sweet and had a comforting texture, very tasty. The pan-fried dumplings had a thick skin and a generous filling, making them very juicy, almost like xiaolongbao. They were best enjoyed with plenty of vinegar and pepper. The boiled dumplings were cooked in a soy-flavored broth, with slightly firm skin. They were delicious, but I recommend the pan-fried version. The Sapporo-style fried ramen was a salt-flavored yakisoba with chewy noodles. It had a simple taste, but the chopped pickled ginger added a refreshing touch. The Otaru craft beer was not something I usually pay attention to, but it was light and easy to drink. I was satisfied to be able to try the rare bear meat, and the staff were very friendly. It's a restaurant I would definitely want to visit again. Thank you for the meal!

This is a restaurant on Tanuki Koji that specializes in game meat. It was my first visit. They had a good selection of beers, so I tried a few different ones. I had venison bacon, fish & chips, venison sirloin steak, and bear meat fried rice. The venison steak was incredibly tender and delicious. The bear meat had a slight gamey taste but was easy to eat. I recommend this place for anyone new to game meat.

I visited around 7 pm on Saturday! I wanted to eat game meat, so I came here... I saw that they had deer and bear on the menu, so I quickly chose the bear steak (lol). There are quite a few places where you can eat Ezo deer now. I ordered the Newton green apple juice white beer! I was able to finish the whole beer by myself!!! I'm so happy~♪ (lol) But it didn't taste like beer at all... It felt like they added a refreshing touch to watered-down beer! But I'm happy that I could drink it, so that's all that matters♪ (lol) The bear steak looked like a regular steak at first glance. Even after trying it, it tasted like a regular steak. I would have never known it was bear if they didn't tell me. Maybe it's because of the spicy steak sauce... I wanted to feel more of the bear in it (⊂( *・ω・ )⊃ lol). It was tender, without any strong flavors, and delicious, but a bit on the expensive side. When I paid the bill, I thought it was quite pricey, especially since they didn't even serve any appetizers. I headed to the next restaurant in search of new game meats! Thank you for the meal♪

The fourth stop on the "guys' night out" that started at 3 o'clock is this restaurant next to "SAKE no chi Sakana Tokidoki, Soba Shubo." The casual yet cozy atmosphere, and the appealing dishes that usually include game meat, make this kitchen stand out. However, due to time constraints, this time it's just alcohol. The highball tastes delicious on my tipsy tongue. The blonde waitress with a refreshing smile is also nice. Hmm... I'm starting to feel pretty good. Next time, I definitely want to try the food at this place.

Today's dinner ended with some venison after a long time! I went to the restaurant next to Shubo-san's that I often visit. I had deer steak at this place that specializes in game meat. It was delicious without any gamey taste. The timing was late and I was the only customer left, so I had a nice chat with the owner-manager and the female staff. They were nice people and I had a pleasant meal! I definitely want to visit this place again!

I stayed in Sapporo and visited this restaurant for dinner. They have counter seats so it's easy to dine alone. The interior is compact with a calm atmosphere. I started with French fries made from Hokkaido potatoes, crispy on the outside and delicious. I had a Sapporo Classic draft beer, followed by a special traveler beer from the restaurant made with Hokkaido hops, very tasty. For the main course, I ordered the bear steak, which was surprisingly casual to eat here. It's sourced from a hunter in Shiretoko. The bear meat is very high quality, even better than horse meat or whale. It has no gamey taste, very enjoyable. For dessert, I tried the recommended grilled ramen, also delicious.

On November 12th to 13th, before the snow turned into deep winter, I went on another solo trip to Hokkaido. I went to resolve the things I left unfinished from my last trip. For lunch, I had Sapporo ramen "Kitaikitou" that I didn't have time to try last time. Next, I found a restaurant in Sapporo Station's tourist information guidebook where I could eat Hokkaido deer and even bear steak! After taking a nap at the hotel, I headed a little west of Susukino for dinner at this second-floor restaurant. When I entered, there were already a few customers. I sat at the counter seat by myself, and in front of me were whiskey bottles lined up. The staff, a young woman and a young man, were both very friendly. I thought there might be a tough old man from the atmosphere outside the restaurant! The woman seemed to be the owner. I ordered red wine and the "Hokkaido Game Plate" which included smoked deer tongue, bear meat steak, and Hokkaido deer steak. Thanks to a discount in the guidebook, it was ¥4040 ⇒ ¥2980. Bear meat is quite tough, but the Hokkaido deer was tender and delicious. If you come with a few people, you can enjoy a variety of dishes, but I kept it light since I was alone. It was a fulfilling experience enjoying the long-awaited Hokkaido deer and the bonus bear meat. (#^.^#)

It was delicious! I made a reservation to visit this place because I admire Golden Kamuy. The deer meat and bear meat steaks were delicious, both the meat and the sauce. It was my first time trying Rösti, which appeared in the manga. The potato fries had a wild skin on them. Above all, the lady at the restaurant was very charming and attentive, a truly wonderful person!

Bear steak. When eaten with just salt, it has a flavor similar to beef sashimi. The meat of the bear does not have a gamey taste.

There are many restaurants where you can eat deer meat, but bear meat is quite rare! The meat itself is delicious and it seems like a lot of care is taken from hunting to cooking. Most importantly, the seasoning of each dish is well-balanced! I not only want to go there when I want to eat game meat, but also just regularly.
