I was lured by Satomi's smile, haha. It was late at night or early in the morning of the new year, and as usual, this store was open. Many stores stop late-night operations even on days other than New Year's Eve, but I am grateful that this chain is open. However, it was crowded throughout with customers spilling out from the overnight trains, and with only one foreign staff member managing everything, it seemed quite tough. I ordered the Sukiyaki Gyudon without wasabi since they didn't have it. While the regular Gyudon at Yoshinoya is outstanding, when you try something like this, the difference is not as noticeable. From the name of the restaurant itself, I think it's good that this chain is keeping this tradition alive!

This day, I went to Ueno. I found an enticing item on their website and decided to check it out. The shop I visited this time was the Sukiya Okachimachi Station South Exit branch. Upon entering, I found a relatively spacious area with available table seats, but I chose to sit at the counter with acrylic dividers. I placed my order using the tablet device on the table. I was originally aiming for the beef suki nabe set, but unfortunately, they didn't have it. So, I ordered the Sukiyaki Gyudon (beef bowl) instead for 580 yen. The dish arrived after a short wait. Surprisingly, it was quite filling, so I didn't need to order miso soup as I initially planned. The bowl was filled with tofu, Chinese cabbage, onions, carrots, shirataki noodles, and green onions, with beef at the bottom. You couldn't even see the rice underneath. I started by tasting the beef, which was tender and soaked in a sweet and savory sukiyaki sauce. It was a delightful surprise how delicious it was. The other ingredients also complemented the sauce well and were very tasty. The grilled tofu, even though it wasn't covered in sauce, added a nice texture and enhanced the overall satisfaction. I topped it generously with pickled ginger from the table and continued enjoying the meal. To my surprise, it was quite filling and satisfying. The price was also reasonable at 580 yen. It was truly delicious. Looking at their website, the promotion was initially until the end of October, but perhaps due to its excellent cost performance, it was extended. Thank you for the meal.

I visited the restaurant because I felt like having tamago kake gohan. I ordered the tamago kake breakfast for 280 yen using the pad. It's great that I can eat for under 300 yen. However, it was a bit difficult to input the order on the pad, but it was okay. I didn't understand why they brought water along with the dish. The rice was cooked perfectly. The miso soup was decent. It's nice that they provide soy sauce for the tamago kake. The seaweed was a bit moist. The amount of hijiki was just right. Considering the price, the cost performance is very high.

I had a craving for it after a long time, so I stopped by "Sukiya Okachimachi Station South Exit Store" in Okachimachi. They have a variety of menu items, but I felt like having a beef bowl, so I went in. I visited "Sukiya Okachimachi Station South Exit Store" after 7:00 pm on a certain day in March 2022. The store is located right after exiting Okachimachi Station and was about 20% full with customers. I sat alone at the counter and ordered the "Creamy Onion Sliced Beef Bowl (regular size)" for ¥550 and the "Asari Soup Salad Set" for ¥290 using the touch panel. The food was served after a 5-minute wait. The limited-time menu item consisted of beef bowl topped with onion slices, creamy sauce, and fried onions. It came with a miso soup filled with clams and a salad with fresh vegetables. The onion slices on the beef bowl provided a satisfying crunch. The combination of refreshing onions and sweet beef was excellent. The texture of the fried onions and the slightly tangy creamy sauce complemented the new onions perfectly. I enjoyed the salad with a Japanese-style dressing, which contained small broccoli florets, typical of Sukiya's style. The salad was satisfying with a good amount of corn. I savored the clams in the soup while enjoying the beef bowl. Adding pickled ginger to the beef bowl enhanced the flavor, and it paired well with the Creamy Onion Sliced Beef Bowl. Among Sukiya's limited-time beef bowl menus, I think the one with onion slices is the most delicious. The beef bowl with this year's new onions was also tasty.

I really like the white hair leek beef bowl. I've been addicted to it since a long time ago, and every time it makes a comeback, I have to eat it. It's delicious. The crunchy white hair leeks, the flavor of sesame oil, and the beef go perfectly together. I think it's amazing. If you want to eat a hearty meat dish from the morning, then you should go to a beef bowl chain. Get a medium-sized bowl (regular rice, 1.5 times the meat), add an egg and miso soup. All of this for just a little over 600 yen, great value for money. Add plenty of red pickled ginger and shichimi pepper. Eat half as it is, and pour the other half over the egg. No complaints.

Unagi-don (grilled eel rice bowl) regular size for 790 yen, with a set of miso soup and pickles for 260 yen, now 100 yen. Today is the midsummer day of the ox. Originally, I wanted to have lunch at an eel specialty restaurant, but it seems like they are all fully booked. So, I decided to have a quick and affordable meal at a beef bowl chain restaurant. I entered at 11:40 am, and it was about 60% full. It's been a while since I visited Sukiya. The ordering method has changed, and now it's done through a touch panel. I was initially thinking of trying the unagi-gyu (eel and beef) dish featured in the commercial with Satomi Ishihara, but I found out that I could add the miso soup and pickles set for just 100 yen with the unagi-don, so I ordered that instead. The food arrived in about 4 minutes. The eel was served as half a piece, and the portion was satisfying. The appearance of the dish was not disappointing at all. The eel was not only tender but also had a noticeable texture from the bones. Just like the unagi at Matsuya, last year's trend was fluffy eel, but this year it seems like the taste has changed. The miso soup was also delicious, but the clear soup goes really well with the eel. I felt that the rice portion was a bit too much, so I added some pickled ginger to balance it out. ★ Beef sukiyaki bowl with egg set, less rice, ¥790 (tax included). Located in front of the south exit of JR Okachimachi Station, under the JR elevated tracks. The restaurant gives off a dark impression as it is not well-lit, but when I peeked inside while passing by, I noticed that there were quite a few solo female customers. I had never been there before, so I decided to give it a try. I was intrigued by the attractive menu items such as the beef sukiyaki bowl, even though I really wanted to try the sukiyaki pot featured in the commercial with Satomi Ishihara, which unfortunately was not available at this location. I was unsure whether to buy a meal ticket from a machine or order directly at the table, but when I entered, I was told to choose any seat I liked, so I sat at a table. Of course, there were also counter seats available. I used the tablet on the table to place my order. The staff, all female and slightly older, were kind, polite, cheerful, and full of energy. They brought me a glass of water right away, and there was a pitcher on the table for refills. The food was served within about 5 minutes after ordering. I cracked the egg and dipped the meat in it before taking a bite. This is sukiyaki! It had the classic, sweet and slightly strong flavor that one would expect. The dish was quite saucy. I poured the egg on top right after. The seasoning was a bit too strong for my taste, making me thirsty. Nevertheless, I finished the meal neatly and took a little break. I was considering having dessert. There are two cash registers, usually the one further inside. When I went to pay, I was asked if I had a point card. I mistakenly thought it was a Sukiya point card, but I didn't have it. The staff mentioned D card, Ponta card, or Rakuten card, so I showed my D card. It turns out it wasn't a Sukiya card. In comparison to other chain restaurants like this, it felt relatively easy for women to dine here. The atmosphere was not bad either. If I come across another menu item that catches my eye, I might visit again in the future. ☆

I drank and ate in the Ueno area the day before and stayed around Hirokoji. The next morning, I was walking around looking for breakfast when I stumbled upon this restaurant. I thought about trying standing soba or something unique to Ueno, but I didn't feel like searching around, so I decided to go in. I sat at a table and looked at the menu. It was morning, but since it was my day off, I decided to have a little drink. I ordered a bottle of beer and a set of mini gyudon (beef bowl) and clam soup. This chain restaurant offers a variety of breakfast options like mixed rice with okra, which is quite enjoyable. I poured raw egg and shichimi (seven spice) over the gyudon and dug in. The gyudon, which I hadn't had in a while, was delicious! The clam soup was comforting and warm. I was pleased with the authentic taste of their miso soup-like broth. Drinking the broth filled with clams while eating the gyudon was quite satisfying. The mini size was just right in terms of portion and price, leaving me feeling content!

A chewy and enjoyable grainy texture, thigh karaage - and it's not over-fried! Proper frying level, well-trained version. I didn't know that... It's not a complaint, but when I reheated the leftovers the next day, the oiliness was tiring in taste. On this day, I went to Okachimachi. After finishing my errands and heading back to the station, I felt a little hungry. There were several food and drink shops lined up in front of the south exit of Okachimachi Station. I decided to quickly grab something to eat at Sukiya. I ordered: - Mini Gyudon @290 - Negi Tama Topping @130 - Clam Soup @290 *SukiPass @200 I sat at the empty counter and looked at the menu. I decided to go with the Negi Tama Gyudon Mini and clam soup, as I've been eating too much lately. The Negi Tama Gyudon was as tasty as ever, with plenty of green onions to balance out the richness of the beef, and the egg made it even more mellow. The clam soup came in a larger bowl than I expected, with plenty of clams giving it a strong clam flavor. As I was about to pay, I noticed that they were selling something called "Sukipass" inside the store. It was similar to what Yoshinoya offered, but I didn't realize Sukiya had it too. It was the 21st edition, so they must have been doing it for a while. With Sukipass @200, you get a 70 yen discount on one order, so if you use it three times or more during the promotional period, there are benefits. I decided to purchase it since there was still time left to use it. It looks like I'll be visiting Sukiya more often now. I have lost count of how many times I have been drawn to Sukiya in the past. The existence of the mini size menu at Sukiya is a temptation. It sucks in this hungry existence like a Dyson vacuum cleaner. The only beef bowl restaurant with 24-hour suction power, Sukiya♪ Yes, whenever I feel like this, I always order the same thing. Oh... before I knew it, it's already this time (3 PM) and I haven't eaten anything since morning. Most regular restaurants would be on break at this time, so I decided to go to Sukiya in front of the south exit of Okachimachi Station. They seem to have a collaboration menu with Attack on Titan, but it looked too filling for me, so I just ordered the regular Gyudon set meal. It comes with Gyudon, raw egg, pickles, and miso soup for only 540 yen. The cost performance is amazing, I wonder how they make a profit. The taste is... well, as usual, but it's more than enough at this time of the day.

Eating Out Edition - Too Much of a Difference in Cost Performance - Not Feeling Like Eating Curry - Gyudon Regular @ Sukiya / Okachimachi This is a story from a little while ago, but for lunch on 6/16 (Sunday), I went to this restaurant. It's the Sukiya Okachimachi Station South Exit store. I happened to come across this place while walking before. I was in the mood for curry, so I decided to go there on this day. First, I considered the menu. Hmm, the curry is 490 yen and the gyudon is 350 yen. The huge difference in cost performance made me not feel like eating curry, so I ordered the gyudon regular size. Right next to the counter, there was something so tempting like this. Let's pretend we didn't see this. The gyudon arrived quickly. The traditional simple style of just meat and onions on top of a bowl of rice is wonderful. I topped it with pickled ginger and sprinkled plenty of shichimi pepper, and I'm ready to eat. Of course, gyudon goes well with pickled ginger and shichimi pepper. Let's dig in. Yum yum yum♪ Oh, delicious! Gyudon always tastes good no matter when you eat it. The onions are cooked just right. If the onions in gyudon were raw, it wouldn't be good. The rice soaked in the sauce is also tasty! You can easily eat just this. Pickled ginger. This is doing a great job. I quickly finished the gyudon by slurping it down my throat. Phew, I'm full. With this taste and volume at this price, the cost performance is definitely satisfactory. Miyaken left the restaurant very satisfied. The end. As of this day, the number of meals eaten out (breakfast, lunch) since January 2011 is 1,123, with an average price of 466 yen per meal including tax.
