This day was a long-awaited reunion with a friend in Asakusa, and we decided to start off at this friend's favorite restaurant. The restaurant has a cozy, old-fashioned atmosphere with a counter in the shape of the letter "字" where each seat has a personal hot pot. Inside the counter, there are two friendly ladies managing the place, and the conversations with the customers are always pleasant and warm, making the sake taste even better. Every dish is delicious, especially the shabu-shabu with just the right amount of marbling in the meat. We started with clams in the hot pot, and the broth was so flavorful, enhancing the taste of the vegetables and meat. I definitely want to visit this place again, if only it was closer...

The restaurant is close to home, has a hidden charm, great for meat lovers who enjoy shabu shabu and sukiyaki, delicious pork and beef options, a friendly female owner, and a cozy counter-style seating that makes it a favorite for families with children.

Kannon-ura is really deep! Next to the gyoza bar where I often go, there is Shabu Tatsu. I had heard about it before but this was my first visit. It's a counter-only restaurant where you can enjoy individual hot pot style dining. You can switch between shabu-shabu and sukiyaki hot pots. The shabu-shabu is 3000 yen for 200g of pork, and the sukiyaki is 5000 yen for 200g of marbled beef. They also offer a mini option with 100g. There are fresh seafood, beef tongue, and other optional menu items available. It's a very convenient restaurant for dining alone. The proprietress is friendly and will tell you about the history of Kannon-ura.
