Category: [Tokyo] Tonkatsu ☆ Shibuya Lunch
The tenant of this place changes quite frequently, but this time it was a tonkatsu restaurant, so I decided to give it a try. Tonkatsu Kagurazaka Sakura Shibuya Jinnan branch, looking at the menu, I noticed the words "Korowide Group". They have various brands such as Kappa Sushi, Gyu-Kaku, Domadoma, Kantaro, Yakitori Center, Ootoya, Freshness Burger, Steak Miya, Karaoke Jiyukan, Shabu Shabu Onyasai, Nigiri no Tokubei, and many more. It is a huge food and beverage group that is often a topic of conversation, for better or for worse. Upon further research, I found out that this brand has a total of 21 stores nationwide. It's quite impressive.
First, they serve rice cooked in a clay pot. I thought there was a cushion on top, so I tried to sit properly, but it turned out to be a mitten. When I opened the lid, I was like, please spare me, it looks like rice porridge. You can't eat tonkatsu with rice porridge, right? But as soon as I scooped it into a bowl, steam rose up, and the rice transformed into a fluffy and delicious dish! The transformation from rice porridge to rice was truly like a Han Solo moment. It's like the "I love you, I know" scene.
I ordered the Aji Fry and Rosu Katsu set meal for 1848 yen, which comes with rice, clam soup, and unlimited cabbage refills. There is also a version without Aji Fry for 1000 yen. It's quite rare to find tonkatsu of this quality for 1000 yen in Shibuya. You can see the corporate efforts of the chain restaurant. The tonkatsu had a crispy outer layer and tender meat with a good amount of fat. Considering that it comes with clay pot rice and clam soup, the Rosu Katsu set meal for 1300 yen seems reasonable. The Aji Fry, priced at 638 yen, was thick and fluffy, with a flavorful seasoning. It was delicious on its own.
In Shibuya, where tonkatsu restaurants are scarce, this place offers the best cost performance. The clay pot rice was especially outstanding.
