On weekdays, I usually avoid restaurants where there is always a long line outside because I can't tell the time, but I am grateful for this restaurant which operates as usual on Saturdays, including the bento corner. On Saturdays, the restaurant is about half as busy, so you can enjoy your meal at a more relaxed pace. This time, I was able to carefully look at the menu outside the restaurant, and I ordered the "Rosukatsu with rice" for 1,380 yen (tax included) plus "Grated Daikon" for 100 yen (tax included). The Rosukatsu was reliably delicious, and they also gave me extra rice as I requested. (I know that rice, cabbage, and miso soup are free for refills, but I don't like waiting for the staff to bring them while my food gets cold, so I called them over multiple times... haha) I noticed that when I tried to pick up a piece of cabbage, the whole bunch came with it, which was a bit bothersome, but other than that, I enjoyed my meal.

I went to the Tonkatsu restaurant called Wako located in the basement near Keidanren in Otemachi. Despite the recent price hikes, the weekday lunch for 950 yen including tax was reasonable. They offer free refills of cabbage and rice, so you can eat to your heart's content. I enjoyed the crispy yet tender tonkatsu.

Around 2:00 pm, when most places have finished serving lunch, I almost became a lunch refugee. That's when I decided to go to "Wako" at Otemachi Conference Center for some tonkatsu. There was a short wait for one group, and I was seated promptly. I ordered the "Tachibana" set for 1,180 yen, which included a bite-sized pork fillet cutlet, shrimp fry, and chicken tenderloin cutlet. I love shrimp fry and chicken tenderloin cutlet, and they were delicious. The shrimp fry was crispy and juicy, especially with the tartar sauce. The chicken tenderloin cutlet had shiso leaves sandwiched in between, giving it a refreshing taste. The pork fillet cutlet was tender and flavorful. I enjoyed the variety of flavors and even asked for a refill of rice. The miso soup with clams was comforting, and the cabbage with yuzu dressing was so good that I asked for a refill as well. I was full after the satisfying lunch, but I couldn't resist the temptation for more. I might feel sleepy during work in the afternoon, but my appetite won over. As always, it was delicious. The thickness of the tonkatsu (pork cutlet) at Kazuki Gohan is decent, but it is quite large in size. The oil and breading are on the slightly moist side. For those with a hearty appetite, this size might be just right. The miso soup contains small clams that are a bit difficult to eat, with about 15 clams in the bowl. I liked that the clam flavor was strong and the miso broth was not overly salty. The rice and shredded cabbage were okay in taste. I later noticed that both the outdoor and indoor menus mentioned "Unlimited rice, miso soup, and cabbage," which I didn't realize at first (laughs). I think the rice and cabbage are meant to be enjoyed with the tonkatsu (finish the tonkatsu and then get more rice and cabbage), but since miso soup is a separate item, I plan to ask for a refill next time.

Lunch at "Wako Otemachi Conference Center Store" is also popular and there was a line for lunch. I wanted to try the oyster fry. I was hesitant because there were 3 groups waiting, but then a few groups finished paying and I decided to wait. After 5 minutes, we were seated. I ordered the Oyster Assortment Rice Bowl (3 oysters) for 1580 yen. It was served in less than 10 minutes. The oyster assortment rice bowl included a bite-sized pork cutlet, shrimp fry, and oyster fry, along with cabbage, rice, and miso soup with free refills. The oyster fry with tartar sauce was crispy and delicious. The pork cutlet was thick and tasty. The clam miso soup and cabbage with yuzu dressing were also delicious. I ended up getting a refill of miso soup and cabbage. It was a satisfying and delicious lunch, and it lifted my mood. I feel happy and ready to tackle the rest of the afternoon. I visited for lunch. It's been a while since I've been to Wako. When it comes to tonkatsu chains, Saboten also comes to mind. I had a similar image of both. Here, rice, miso soup, and cabbage refills are free. Over there, it comes with ground sesame. I ordered the Wako Rice (890 yen) with loin cutlet. When the dish arrived, I started with the cabbage first to avoid getting too full. After a few bites, I ended up getting a refill. The refill cabbage was divided into small portions, and it was a bit dry. There is a refreshing Japanese-style dressing available. I'm glad they have this instead of just sauce, as it can get boring. The miso soup also had clams in it. It was not too strong in miso flavor, making it easy to drink. The tonkatsu had a crispy coating. I prefer a thinner coating, but this was still good. It wasn't over-fried, and the meat was tender with just the right amount of doneness. There was also some fat in it. This chain restaurant is reliable as always. There are more cheaper tonkatsu chains popping up, but I realized that the quality of this place is hard to beat. Thank you for the meal.

What an efficient way to serve food! It may have seemed a bit surprising to the onlookers, but it was actually a time-saving method that benefited both the restaurant and other customers. It was during the busy lunch hour, so after ordering, they promptly brought out just the cabbage and miso soup. By the time I finished eating the cabbage and miso soup, the set meal arrived as if on cue. The one-bite deep-fried fish set meal was only 880 yen. Perhaps it's because it was lunchtime? I think this is the first time I've seen such an affordable menu at Washoku. With the option to get unlimited rice, cabbage, and miso soup, it's really cost-effective if you plan on getting refills. Well, I did order just the cabbage and miso soup right off the bat, so I was definitely planning on getting refills. The fried fish was crispy and very delicious. My stay was about 20 minutes. (≧∇≦)b

I usually always eat rosu katsu or hire katsu, but today I decided to try the "hire katsu rice". I was inspired by a recent episode of "Kodoku no Gurume Season 9" where Inogashira Goro (played by Matsushige Yutaka) was enjoying hire katsu. Although it wasn't the same tonkatsu restaurant in Kawasaki from the drama, I went to a tonkatsu chain called Wako near my workplace. The hire katsu was thick and large, with a satisfying volume. There was no salt on the table, so I had to go with tonkatsu sauce from the start. The rough breadcrumbs added a nice crispy texture. The hire katsu was thick and tender, and even though I could only use tonkatsu sauce, it was delicious. If you want to change the flavor, they offer an "oroshi hire katsu rice" as a separate menu item at a higher price. Overall, the consistent taste and the deliciousness of the hire katsu left me very satisfied.

Ando-san's restaurant, where customers are always coming in and out, was bustling as usual! On this day, I ordered a bento box for 620 yen and a black oolong tea for 100 yen! Unlike dining in, you can't get refills on cabbage or rice, but for 620 yen, the portion was definitely worth it. I visited around 11 am on a regular day. They had a variety of bento boxes available. I got a set with fried shrimp and pork cutlet to go. As expected, there is a sense of reassurance at Wasco. They offer two types of sauce, so the taste doesn't get boring. If you're looking for a safe option for a lunch takeout, Wasco is a sufficient choice.

At one point, I used to visit this restaurant like a stalker. The staff would remember my order back then. I appreciate that they are open all day. I revisited for lunch after a long time. I always order the "Washoku Gohan" (890 yen) with grated daikon (I think it was 100 yen). I pour soy sauce on the daikon, then put it on the cutlet and eat it. I don't use the sauce on the table. The 1cm thick, well-cooked white meat cutlet cannot be compared to the thick, pink meat cutlets from high-end restaurants that can be enjoyed with just salt. But it has a good amount of fat and is delicious in its own way! The side dishes for the set meal are also excellent. The shiny white rice. I mix in the pickled radish leaves and Chinese cabbage. The miso soup has clams. Every time I drink it, I think of the protagonist in Dazai Osamu's novel who experienced shame. Of course, I push the clams around and enjoy them. After eating all the clams, I transfer the shells to a separate plate, pour the remaining soup over the remaining rice, and finish it off. Cabbage, miso soup, and rice are all-you-can-eat. The staff comes around with a basket full of shredded cabbage and offers more. I pour the purple shiso dressing and the remaining grated daikon on the cabbage and eat it last. I deliberately go against the idea of not gaining weight. I feel like my body is definitely happier this way. After finishing everything without leaving anything behind, I feel a sense of satisfaction from eating a lunch that is good for my body. You can experience this happiness for less than 1000 yen. It's understandable why office workers line up for lunch.

Located on the basement floor of the Otemachi Conference Center, this shop always has long lines during lunchtime, so it's tough to avoid peak hours. I visited around 2 pm on this day and ordered the popular Washoku meal. Although the 15-minute wait during lunchtime is quite long for a salaryman, the taste and cost performance are excellent. As always, the tonkatsu was very delicious. Thank you for the meal!

Visit Date: Weekday 12:00-12:50 Weather: Sunny It had been a while since my last visit. I always imagine there will be a line, and this day was no exception. I had to wait a bit before entering. I ordered the pork cutlet bowl for 1,080 yen (tax included), which came with miso soup, salad, and pickles. I asked for less rice. The potato salad in the salad was a nice touch. Even with less rice, I was satisfied and full.

After enjoying a delicious curry for lunch on Tuesday, July 23, 2019 at 12:40, I headed to Otemachi for some errands. I visited the "Washoku Otemachi Conference Center" store. It was quite crowded due to lunchtime, but after a short wait, I was seated. I ordered the following from the menu: - Washoku Gohan (Japanese-style rice) for 880 yen - Special loin cutlet rice for 1600 yen The dishes were served in about 8 minutes. Since I had just eaten curry, the cutlet from Washoku was enough for me. It was consistently delicious, with crispy breading and tasty meat. One of the best things about Washoku is that you can have unlimited refills of rice, cabbage, and miso soup (clam soup). I had three refills of cabbage and three refills of miso soup. I was very satisfied with the portion size. Thank you for the meal!

I felt a little peckish, so I came to Wako where you can have unlimited cabbage and clam soup. It's located in the basement of the Keidanren Kaikan. It's a nostalgic taste that I used to enjoy. The pork cutlet is decent, but the clam soup and cabbage are the main attractions. It's delicious. The clams are very small, but they seem good for the liver. Thank you for the meal.

To celebrate their 60th anniversary, the restaurant offered their pork cutlet with rice for 1200 yen at a discounted price of 850 yen for three days. I arrived as soon as they opened, wondering if the quality would be affected by the special event. The staff greeted me warmly as usual, and the freshly fried pork cutlet with rice was just as delicious as always. I poured the special sauce onto the plate, added some mustard to the cutlet, and enjoyed the warm, sweet flavor of the dish. The cabbage served as a palate cleanser, but I couldn't resist getting another serving of the pork cutlet. I also had seconds of cabbage, clam soup, and rice. It was a satisfying meal as always.
