Namba, Namiichi✨ A long-established soba restaurant in the back streets of Namba. It is located on the same street as Menya Joroku. I have visited many times, but this is my first review❗️
I ordered:
- Seared Duck Soba (1300 yen)
- Duck Nanba Soba (1300 yen)
* Comes with mixed rice and egg tofu✨
⚫︎ Seared Duck:
Cold soba topped with seared duck. Wasabi is served on the side for flavor variation. The soba noodles have a firm texture, and they go well with the light broth. The seared duck adds richness to the dish.
⚫︎ Duck Nanba Soba:
A warm version of the seared duck soba. This dish has a stronger duck flavor in the broth. However, the noodles are a bit soft. It may be perfect for those who prefer softer noodles✨
As mentioned earlier, these soba dishes come with egg tofu and mixed rice. The mixed rice is cooked in a clay pot, so depending on the timing, you can enjoy freshly cooked rice! The crispy rice crust adds a delicious touch. The clay pot mixed rice has a greater impact than the soba.
For 1300 yen, I think this soba and mixed rice set is really worth it.
By the way, this place used to not be a tourist spot, but it seems to have become one without me noticing. It hasn't reached the point of having long lines yet, but it may be just a matter of time. If you're interested, I recommend visiting before it becomes too crowded✨

I visited this restaurant on a Sunday afternoon with my parents' recommendation. It's a small place with only a counter, and we were lucky to find a seat available. I ordered the seared duck soba, which came with a side of mixed rice. The aroma of the seared duck was so appetizing and the soba was the most delicious I've had recently.

I had a day off on Sunday, but they were open on 6/25 (Sunday). I ordered the following menu: Grilled duck and rice cooked together, with the option for seconds, and egg tofu for 1,300 yen (tax included). I entered around 1 pm and was able to get a seat without waiting. Thank you for the meal! Handmade soba at Namichi, thank you for the delicious treat!

After visiting Amza 2000, we went to Nomryu for drinks and finished the night at Nanba Namban Ichi. The food was as delicious as ever. Even though I was already full, I ended up getting a second helping of rice. Since the lifting of entry restrictions due to COVID, the Minami area has been filled with foreign visitors, but I never expected to see them at Nanba Namban Ichi. I guess the food must be that good.

I arrived at "Nami" around 1 pm in Namba for work, and noticed that the clock was a bit behind today. There were 2 groups of 3 people waiting outside, and we were seated inside after about 15 minutes. Nami serves delicious soba made with domestic duck broth that is light and not overpowering. The soba has a good texture and goes down smoothly, especially when slurped with green onions. The duck rice cooked in a clay pot is outstanding, with just the right amount of crispy burnt bits that are incredibly tasty. I also noticed how appetizing the shrimp fry that other customers were eating looked. Maybe shrimp fry is popular now? My companion said the duck and egg bowl they had was delicious too. I'm already thinking about what to try next time. We were able to use a 30 yen discount coupon that is still valid, so we got 30 yen off for both of our meals.

Ebi Fry Set Meal for 950 yen. The restaurant is located a little off the main street in a small alley. I went there after 2 pm and there were no other customers, so I was seated right away. The food came out in about 5 minutes after ordering. The duck broth rice cooked in an earthen pot is all-you-can-eat. The deep umami flavor of the duck goes well with the fluffy rice. The simple taste pairs nicely with pickles! The pickled ginger adds a nice accent! The shrimp fry is large and crispy with a golden brown coating! The shrimp is plump and has a great texture! The tartar sauce, which you can put as much as you want, is rich with plenty of eggs! You get a discount coupon after your first visit, giving you 30 yen off from the next visit. I used to come here often about 10 years ago, and it feels nostalgic that the atmosphere hasn't changed. I'm curious about other menu items so I'll have to come back again. Thank you for the meal.

I had lunch here for the second time! I tried the Duck Nanba Soba set meal. The broth was delicious, and the duck was tasty. Most of all, the rice cooked in the clay pot is highly recommended. This time, it was duck broth cooked mixed rice, which was also exquisite. I will definitely have seconds! If you time it right, you can have freshly cooked rice. Thank you for the meal!

When you enter this alley, you'll find many famous shops ♫ This alley is packed with renowned ramen shops, dumpling shops, and other charming stores that will get you excited ♫ Namiichi is one of the places here ♫ You can enjoy delicious hand-cut soba noodles and duck dishes ♫ On this day, it was a bit late for dinner, so they said I could have seconds of rice if I wanted, even though I didn't really need it haha ♫ The soba noodles were as delicious as ever ♫ Next time, I'll make sure to come with a bigger appetite and get the large serving ♫

Today's lunch was at Namiichi. I chose the daily soba set. It's a shop in a back alley in Namba that only serves daily set meals. Although it's a hybrid shop that turns into a soba restaurant at night (currently closed), they sometimes serve the daily soba set on weekdays as well, not just on Saturdays. I visited at the perfect timing for that. Normally, with the set meals, you can have unlimited servings of rice cooked in an earthenware pot, but with the soba set, you can have unlimited servings of rice cooked with various ingredients. If you time it right, you can even get freshly cooked rice! The soba in the daily set is served as kakesoba, but if you put the separate tempura on top, it becomes tempura soba (laughs). The dashimaki tamago is also full of flavor, so there's no way it could taste bad. It may be a bit old-fashioned for young people, but it's just right for sophisticated adults. Of course, it's essential to have seconds of the rice cooked with various ingredients and finish off with tempura of pickled ginger for a refreshing end. Ah, it was delicious! Thank you for the meal!

Today I had work in Namba and for lunch, I was in the mood for some fish. I checked the menu at a place called Minami and saw that today's daily special was simmered flounder. The restaurant serves delicious rice cooked in a clay pot. There were some changes in the system since my last visit. The opening time is now 10:30, and the prices vary between peak hours and other times. Since I arrived at 11:30, the lunch price was 680 yen, but using a service ticket brought it down to 650 yen. The simmered flounder had a light seasoning, just right for someone from Kansai like me. They also provided soy sauce on the side, so even if you like it a bit stronger, you're covered. The food was served slightly cooled, but it was no problem as it was simmered fish. The simmered flounder went really well with the rice. The fluffy white rice cooked in a clay pot had a slightly crispy bottom, giving it a nice aroma. All in all, the main dish of the day was the delicious white rice. The first bowl was a bit cooled and had lost some moisture, but the second bowl was freshly cooked and piping hot. I was reassured by the consistently tasty white rice they served. That's all for today's review!

On Sunday afternoon, feeling hungry, I want something light and satisfying. In times like this, I always head to "Namiichi". The alley where this restaurant is located is filled with famous shops. "Namiichi" serves soba for lunch and dinner on weekends. The soba is made with 20% wheat flour and 80% buckwheat flour. Upon entering the shop, I saw only one customer inside. The old man was busy cooking. He runs the shop alone, which makes it a slow food experience. That's why you can relax here. I ordered the double duck soba with an extra large portion of soba. Time passes slowly in the shop, and that's what I like about it. If you prefer a fast-paced environment, you should try another shop. The old man carefully boils the soba. Just watching him is enjoyable. The duck soba arrived. The soba was piled high. The duck was a bit tough, but it didn't bother me. With the double soba, I was truly satisfied. Mixing the dipping sauce with soba water made it delicious. I left feeling completely satisfied! I will definitely come back.

I had to finish dinner by 9 pm due to a certain situation, so I decided to grab a quick bite on my way home. I went to "Namiichi" in the backstreets of Namba. They serve a different lunch special each day, and at night, they turn into a soba restaurant. I ordered the "dashimaki" and "duck soba". The fried soba and dashimaki were served first. The dashimaki was incredibly delicious. Then, the duck soba arrived, and the aroma of the duck broth was tantalizing. I asked for extra grated radish from the chef and enjoyed the soba. The crispy texture of the duck, the sweet broth with green onions, and the seasoning like black shichimi and sansho pepper created a perfect harmony. The soba, the broth, and the chef's service were all exceptional. Finally, I had some soba broth and finished my meal. It was a delightful dining experience.

Osaka Namba, Handmade Soba Namii-san is a soba research restaurant. It has a rating of 3.50 on Tabelog and is a counter-only shop. They are practicing social distancing. The special selected thin-cut zaru soba costs 880 yen and is made with a 20:80 soba ratio. They only serve 10 portions, and the soba noodles are thin and long. The dipping sauce is slightly sweet, which I like. Thank you for the delicious meal! Thank you very much!

Handmade soba noodles! Namiiichi!! I had the 80% buckwheat soba noodles with dashi tamago. Lately, I've been eating a lot of brown-colored food, so I decided to eat something gentle on the body, which led me to this soba restaurant! The soba noodles are very thin, requiring some skill to eat them deliciously! The chopsticks are thin at the tip, making it easy to pick up the thin noodles. The wasabi for garnishing is very fresh! The dipping sauce is on the richer side but doesn't overpower the flavor of the soba flour. When you swallow it, you can still taste the soba! And the salt soba noodles! Eating soba with natural sun salt and rock salt for the first time! It's incredibly delicious! The umami of the soba noodles is enhanced by 120%! I had to eat this! It's really amazing and delicious! The dashi tamago is also full of flavorful broth! Thank you for the meal! Namiiichi is definitely the right choice!

Lunch at "Namiichi" offers set meals depending on the day of the week, with delicious rice cooked in a clay pot and tasty side dishes. In the evening, it turns into a full-fledged soba restaurant (with a skilled chef). Tonight, I came to Namiichi for an early and light dinner before my health check-up tomorrow. I ordered the "duck soba" and "rolled omelette". First, the rolled omelette was served, with a rich dashi flavor. The grated daikon radish and pickled ginger paired perfectly with it. Next, the duck soba arrived. The firm duck meat and sweet, rich broth were delicious. I started by trying the soba with salt, then dipped it in the duck broth with plenty of green onions and sansho pepper. It was so tasty! Finally, I enjoyed a bowl of soba broth. Thank you for the meal. Hopefully, tomorrow's health check-up results will be good too.

I visited during lunch time. I used to come to Namba often for the rice cooked in a clay pot, but lately I've been more into ramen, so I've been going to the famous shop at the back of this restaurant more often. As I passed by the front of the shop, I saw that the daily special was salt-grilled mackerel, so I went inside. It's hard to find a cheap and delicious place to eat fish these days, so I was happy. I aimed for the crispy burnt parts of the rice when serving myself, and it was delicious. I had seconds, and it seemed like they had just finished cooking the rice, so there were no burnt parts, but the shiny rice made me feel happy. The salt-grilled mackerel had good fat content and a soft, melt-in-your-mouth texture that went well with the rice. The sweet tamagoyaki (rolled omelette) reminded me of the ones I used to eat on school trips, and it was delicious. The white miso soup had a gentle and flavorful broth. The cucumber pickles were very tasty and encouraged me to eat more rice. It was my first time visiting in a while, but the food was still delicious. I took a photo of the daily special menu, so I'll come back on fish day.

Handmade soba restaurant "Namiichi" is currently very popular as a lunch spot, but this time I visited for a late-night drink. The restaurant is located in a narrow alley north of the so-called Otaro Road in Minami, where many eateries are lined up. Just nearby is Jo-roku. The exterior has a cozy small eatery vibe with a hand-drawn menu that adds a touch of warmth. Inside, there is only an L-shaped counter, and the owner and hostess are there, creating a friendly atmosphere that makes you want to chat while enjoying your drink. The menu includes various soba options like zaru, kake, duck seiro, and duck nanba, as well as tempura such as kakiage and autumn vegetable tempura. There are also other appetizing dishes that go well with drinks. The selection of shochu is more extensive than sake. I started with a cold sake from Iwaki Jozo as part of a set. The fried soba that came first served as an appetizer, along with boiled peanuts, chicken nanban, and cabbage. I was initially unsure how they would pair with the sake, but surprisingly, they complemented each other well. Especially the chicken nanban with homemade tartar sauce was delightful and could stand alone with a cup of sake. As I finished the appetizers, I ordered autumn vegetable tempura and zaru soba. The colorful tempura arrived first, accompanied by grated daikon and both dipping sauce and salt. The freshly fried tempura, with its sweet vegetables, paired well with the dipping sauce alone. Finally, the zaru soba was served with two types of salt in addition to the soba dipping sauce. The soba was slightly firm with a strong flavor, and it tasted delicious with both the salt and the spicy Edo-style dipping sauce. I finished the meal with a refreshing soba-yu. It was a quiet and cozy atmosphere, perfect for a leisurely meal, although it may not be the same during the busy lunch hours. The cost performance was good, leaving me feeling like I got a good deal. I look forward to returning and enjoying a more leisurely meal next time. Overall, it was quite delicious. Thank you for the meal.

During the summer when appetite tends to decrease, I suddenly craved delicious soba noodles and visited Namiichi-san's shop. It had been a while since I last went to a soba noodle shop, so I was really excited. The noodles were firm and chewy. Despite not having much appetite, my spouse and I finished a large serving easily. We found a really good shop! It seems like it will be our food oasis during the summer.

It would be nice if they served soba noodles from 11:00 onwards... The cheap prices are good, but it still felt a bit plain...
