In the midst of an emergency situation, I had some urgent business to attend to and made my way to Naito Shinjuku. It was well past lunchtime when I finished my errand. Considering the current time, the only place where I could grab lunch was a department store, so I decided to go to Keio Department Store. Feeling a bit heavy in the stomach today, I had a craving for tempura, so I headed to "Tsuna Hachi." It was just before 2 PM, and the restaurant was quite empty, so I was seated right away. I started with a glass of sake, served at room temperature, and made a toast with Kuro Matsushiro. For my meal, I chose the same as last time, the "Nisai Zen" set which includes 2 prawns, 5 types of vegetables, fried smelt, and tempura. The first half of the tempura arrived - 2 prawns, eggplant, bell pepper, pumpkin, and sweet potato. Two types of salt and tempura sauce were provided. The table used to have 3-4 types of salt, but now, probably due to infection prevention measures, they were served individually on plates. Wasabi salt and natural salt were placed at both ends of the plate. As I enjoyed these, my main meal arrived - white rice, pickles, and miso soup with clams. The miso soup had a nice clam flavor. The second half of the tempura also arrived - smelt, green onion, and tempura. I particularly enjoy the green onion tempura. It goes well with sake. Despite having a late lunch, I was quite satisfied with the meal. Bon appétit!
