- Keema Curry ¥800 tax included
Located behind Shinjuku Kabukicho is a café & bar on the first floor of a business hotel. I found out that they serve lunch on certain days and decided to visit. The bar has a chic atmosphere with spacious seating where people are scattered around, making it a perfect spot to spend some alone time during lunch. It felt like a hidden gem. There were several lunch menu options available, but being a curry addict, I went for the Keema Curry.
The curry was beautifully presented on a large clean white plate, including a sunny-side-up egg. I initially thought it was just typical café food, but I was wrong. It was incredibly delicious. The Keema Curry had a rich, authentic aroma that couldn't be achieved with just store-bought curry powder. The slightly sticky and creamy Keema Curry, with visible minced meat, was generously served on a bed of rice, almost hiding the sweet Japanese rice grains. The addition of the sunny-side-up egg was a nice touch. As I savored the minced meat and sweet rice grains, I could taste the curry's aroma, a subtle spiciness, and the sweetness of the rice blending together harmoniously. The side dishes included stir-fried potatoes, shimeji mushrooms, and cabbage, along with a vegetable soup. The side dishes and vegetable soup were perfectly seasoned. I believe the chef at this restaurant is quite skilled.
I walked in expecting a casual café meal but ended up enjoying a flavorful curry that brought me a small moment of happiness. Thank you for the meal.

I was looking for a cafe with power outlets and found one! You have to pay in advance. The staff, who also work at the hotel reception, provided excellent and friendly service. I ordered a blend coffee for 350 yen and jasmine tea for 350 yen, totaling 700 yen. I paid with PayPay. The wifi was fast, and I could charge my devices, making it a very comfortable experience. As of August 2021, the restaurant had a rating of 3.01 on Tabelog.

Located right next to Okubo Park where festivals are held from summer to autumn, this place is perfect for killing time while waiting for friends who are running late for a festival. It's a newly opened hotel with a beautiful interior, equipped with Wi-Fi and power outlets, which is very convenient. I decided to try the tasting set of Sumida River Brewing, the first brewery in Tokyo. The price is inclusive of tax, so no need to worry about extra change. I started with the ones with a strong bitterness and saved the lighter ones for later. The Thai beer had a light taste that made it enjoyable even when it got warm. Overall, it was delicious. They also serve food in addition to drinks.
