Tonkatsu Inaba Washoku Delicatessen Machida Delicatessen - Bento Research New Store
In order to create a new deli counter for our store, we have been researching various shops. Today, we studied the deli counter at Odakyu Department Store Machida Branch. First, we compared the bento boxes from "Mai Izumi" with those from our store. When I held a bento box from "Inaba Washoku," which I used to consult for many years ago, it felt substantial. So, I decided to purchase various items for research.
First, the "Pork Fillet Cutlet Bento." Around 20 years ago, I started purchasing chilled pork from Smithfield in the United States through Sumitomo Corporation. It seems like they are continuing with this supply chain, as the pork is tender. I think it has a good balance with the price.
Next, the "Shrimp Fillet Bento." The shrimp is also firm and good. I found that Inaba Washoku's bento boxes come with a relatively generous amount of cabbage slices, dressing, and a separate miso soup bag, which I felt was very cost-effective.

When I went to Machida, I visited a shop that caught my eye while wandering around - the Odakyu Department Store Machida Branch. I bought a meat and potato croquette for 110 yen (tax included). It didn't really taste like meat and potatoes, in my opinion. It was just okay, nothing special.

It's Tuesday night. Despite being in the midst of the fourth wave, I have three dining plans during Golden Week. All of them are at hard-to-reserve restaurants, so canceling is not an option. Maybe tonight I'll buy some deli food and watch baseball at home. I stopped by Odakyu Department Store in Machida. I decided to buy the last piece of pork loin at the Wako booth. I transformed it into simmered cutlet at home. It's lacking in vegetables, but I used half an onion and added edamame, so it's fine. Phew~. It turned out great. It's just like a snack at a soba restaurant. And that's the end of the meal.
