I wonder how many conveyor belt sushi restaurants there are in Ikebukuro? How many sushi restaurants are there in total? I've been to the Ooedo restaurant in Ikebukuro East Exit a few times before. I sat at the rotating counter with a hungry stomach and started with clam soup. They provided tea and a hot towel to clean my hands. I think I ate about 13-14 plates, with 2-3 pieces on each plate. The rice portion was small, so I finished them quickly. I think there was a sushi roll with a lot of wasabi that made my eyes water. It was delicious though. The chef quickly served me some sweet egg omelette, which I quickly grabbed. There were three chefs working, all skillfully preparing the sushi. I wish I could drink beer while eating sushi, but I have to drive. Thank you for the meal.

This is a revolving sushi restaurant located in the bustling area of Ikebukuro East Exit, with a long and narrow counter. It is considered a popular spot for the general public. The plates range from 190 yen and up, with a wide variety available at the 190 yen price point, which is reassuring. I found it rare to see conger eel on the menu in Tokyo. While the major chain sushi restaurants are not bad, it was nice to find a convenient spot where you can quickly satisfy your hunger with a seasonal touch.

Visit date: June 9, 2023 (Friday) night in Ikebukuro
Today I had a day trip to Nagoya for work and couldn't have ramen for lunch, so I thought about going to "Ajisai" in Ikebukuro for dinner. However, I saw a tweet from a follower about a new ramen shop called "RAMENSAUVAGR soba-ju" that opened in Minami-Ikebukuro on June 8th. The shop uses Satsuma-jidori chicken sourced directly from the producer for their ramen and the chicken sashimi looked delicious.
The shop is run by a former French chef who uses French techniques to make ramen using local chicken. The soup is made using "Fon de Volaille" and the black Satsuma chicken sashimi looked especially appetizing.
I decided to change my plans and head to Ikebukuro to try the ramen. However, when I arrived at the shop at 8:02 PM, I found out that they had already run out of soup and closed for the day. The shop had been selling out of soup by 7 PM for the past two days, which was unexpected.
Feeling disappointed, I headed to a nearby ramen shop called "Nishiki no Chuka Soba" but ended up getting distracted by a conveyor belt sushi chain on the way. I enjoyed some fresh oysters, striped jack sushi, and homemade small fin sushi at the sushi chain, despite some items being sold out.
Overall, the sushi was decent and I was glad to have tried the high-quality striped jack sushi.

Anago (190), Negitoro (190), Uni (280), Ikura (280), Hokki Salad (190), Fresh Oysters (450), Engawa (190), Squid (190), Draft Beer (550). The ikura and uni look completely different from the menu photos... there's way too much cucumber added as filler (´・ω・`). The menu photo doesn't have cucumber at all (> <). Also, is this really ikura? It looks more like sujiko with extremely tiny grains that are all clumped together... I didn't find anything that tasted as good as the price or better ♡ Also, I ordered fresh oysters as an appetizer for my first order, but they completely forgot about it. When I asked if the oysters were ready, they said, "Oh, we're preparing it now!" and asked if I wanted it as an appetizer or nigiri, so they definitely forgot about it, didn't they? \(^o^)/. It would have been better if they just admitted they forgot about it (> <). The Hokki Salad is safe and reliable ♪

I had shime saba, negitoro hand roll, anago, hotate, aji, buri, and zuke maguro. Especially the shime saba and negitoro hand roll were delicious! I visited during my break at work, so I was nervous about finishing in time, haha.

This is currently my favorite revolving sushi restaurant in Ikebukuro. They offer dishes for 180 yen each (some exceptions apply), and although prices have gone up slightly, the satisfaction level is worth it. They have a menu item called "Red Clam Himo" which is served like sashimi. From the 21st to the end of each month, beer is only 350 yen. I like this place so I come here often. The staff in the restaurant are of Chinese descent, and their service style is not the typical Japanese style that I prefer. They tend to serve beer with a loud bang and without saying anything, which I personally do not like. So, if you prefer Japanese-style service, this place may not be suitable for you.

I had some errands nearby and decided to have lunch at a cost-effective revolving sushi restaurant in Ikebukuro. The prices were cheaper than supermarket sushi, and it even came with miso soup. It was a great deal with no complaints. They also had a variety of delicious options besides lunch. It's a casual revolving sushi restaurant that you can easily enjoy.

I visited the restaurant on Sunday before noon. Since it was only an hour after opening, the sushi on the conveyor belt was still fresh and delicious. I enjoyed Thai snapper, amberjack, toro, yellowtail, salmon roe, ark shell, tekka maki, and conger eel. It's a big plus that you can eat your favorite sushi without waiting too long. The prices are also reasonable. While family-friendly restaurants with Hokkaido ingredients are nice, places like this are convenient when you're short on time. There are several locations of Dai Edo in Tokyo, which is very convenient. It was delicious.

When I entered a narrow alley for the first time, I found a rotating sushi restaurant there. I decided to take a seat at the counter and ordered a highball. The highball had a dark color, maybe some coloring was added, but it tasted strong and the whiskey flavor was prominent. It was a good deal at only 270 yen. The staff recommended trying the fresh mackerel, which had a red flesh and no fishy smell. It was surprisingly tasty. I also tried the horse mackerel, which had changed color over time or due to temperature. I managed to eat it, though. As a palate cleanser, I had a piece of tuna. Overall, it was a 2 wins and 1 loss experience. Well, not bad. Let's move on to the next place.

After work, I decided to stop by for some sushi. Although Oedo Sushi is known for its variety of white fish options, the recommended menu displayed also showed a decent selection of shellfish. Of course, they had the usual options like black snapper, black sea bream, butterfish, and red mackerel (hachibiki) which were all reasonably priced and delicious white fish choices. However, I decided to order some shellfish this time. The live Hokkigai was surprisingly large in size. While the flavor was a bit mild, it was quite a good deal. The texture and flavor of the mirugai were also excellent. But what stood out the most this time was the Aoyagi. While there may be variations in taste depending on the individual shellfish, this Aoyagi had a distinct flavor without any overpowering fishy smell. It was incredibly delicious. I ended the meal with a Tekka Maki made with real tuna. Mixing the lean tuna and fatty tuna in equal parts with seaweed created a perfect balance in my opinion. Upon closer inspection, the tuna core was a mix of lean and fatty tuna, showing a subtle attention to detail that could be felt throughout the restaurant.

Wow! Until the end of June, all dishes are only 120 yen including tax! Even though they are not listed on the menu, there are different dishes available each time which is fun. They have various options like Indian tuna, red meat of red snapper, fresh shirasu, firefly squid, fresh octopus, and more. The drinks are also affordable, so it's perfect for a casual sushi and a drink when you feel like it.

I visited a conveyor belt sushi restaurant called "Katsu Edo Ikebukuro Higashi-guchi" around 11 o'clock on a certain day in February 2021. It is located about a 3-minute walk from Ikebukuro Station. The restaurant had a moderate size with around 5 customers already there. I sat at the counter seat, prepared my own tea, and placed my order with the staff. Here are my thoughts on the dishes I tried:
- Clam Miso Soup ¥149: The clam miso soup was served in a slightly larger bowl. It had a light flavor but there were some raw parts in the fish which made it a bit disappointing. Adding lemon helped reduce the fishy taste, but I felt that the cooking level was a bit low.
- Ark Shell ¥149: Despite the disappointing miso soup, the ark shell sushi was not bad. It had a good balance between the shellfish and the rice. For this price, it was a satisfying dish.
- Squid ¥149: A traditional squid sushi with a good texture due to the cuts made in it. Enjoyable to eat.
- Tuna ¥149: A good-sized piece of tuna with decent quality. Enjoyed a classic piece of sushi.
- Yellowtail ¥149: A slightly larger yellowtail sushi with a satisfying bite. The quality was not bad for the price.
- Whelk ¥149: A whelk sushi with a good amount of wasabi. Enjoyed the texture of this sushi.
- Yellowtail Amberjack ¥149: A piece of yellowtail amberjack with a good texture. Enjoyable, but would have been better with more fat.
- Negitoro Roll ¥149: A nicely sized negitoro roll. Didn't taste much like tuna, but considering the price, it was acceptable.
Overall, the sushi was well put together, but the quality of the miso soup was lacking. The freshness of the ingredients was not outstanding, but some dishes felt like a good deal for the price. This restaurant seems like a good place to quickly enjoy some sushi.

While shopping in Ikebukuro, I started to feel a bit hungry. Normally, I would satisfy my hunger with a convenience store onigiri, but I came across a conveyor belt sushi restaurant and couldn't resist going in. I only intended to have a light snack, but ended up eating Kohada, horse mackerel, tsubugai, scallop, red snapper, sea bream, eel, and conger eel. Overall, the portions were small, so I ended up eating quite a bit. The quality of the fish wasn't the freshest, especially the white fish which seemed a bit lackluster in appearance and taste. However, considering it was a conveyor belt sushi restaurant in the heart of the city, it was understandable. I only intended to satisfy my hunger, but ended up eating 9 plates and spending 1280 yen. Next time, I'll stick to convenience store onigiri to save money.

I visited the restaurant for lunch. I have been here many times. It is just a few minutes walk from Ikebukuro East Exit. Today, I ordered a lunch set, a few individual dishes, and a beer. The lunch set alone costs around 600 yen including miso soup. I have tried various lunch sets at nearby conveyor belt sushi restaurants, but I think the quality here is quite high. Each plate costs around 150 yen, but you get satisfaction that exceeds the price for each one. The chefs also provide the meals with a pleasant attitude. There are many conveyor belt sushi restaurants around Ikebukuro, but this one is the best in terms of cost performance when you want to eat sushi on a budget.

I usually go to Wakataka, so I decided to visit Oedo Sushi for a change. I had a bad experience there in the past, so I've been avoiding it ever since. The place was not crowded, maybe due to the current situation with the coronavirus. I sat near the chef and ordered some buri and aji to start with, focusing on silver-skinned and white fish. The quality of the fish was decent, with some small pieces here and there. The mebaru was particularly good, so I ordered another plate of it. Finally, I had the obligatory tekka maki before paying the bill. The size of the vinegared rice was just right, making it easy to try a variety of dishes. It's a good place for a quick meal after drinking. There are many revolving sushi restaurants in Ikebukuro, so it's good to have a favorite spot like this one that you can rely on.

It is located near the east exit of Ikebukuro Station. It seems that Japanese craftsmen are making the sushi, and there are many rotating options, but most people were ordering directly from the craftsmen in front of them, so I did the same. Among the sushi I tried this time, the "Kanpachi" was the most delicious, so I ordered more. The "Kohada" and "Houbou" were also good, with a chewy texture and delicious taste. I thought it was one of the better conveyor belt sushi restaurants.

A good conveyor belt sushi restaurant in Ikebukuro for a second round of drinks! The entrance is a bit hard to find and the restaurant is small, but it's okay to go in alone. The menu is extensive, but the usual choices are always good... shellfish, squid, medium fatty tuna, all pass. It's a good place to go alone and enter late.

This is a revolving sushi restaurant located along a slightly shady street near Ikebukuro East Exit. I ordered the weekday-only assorted lunch set (¥590) which includes 9 pieces of nigiri sushi and miso soup with seaweed. The sushi was made with salmon, tuna, shrimp, horse mackerel, sardine, scallop, albacore, salmon roe, and minced fatty tuna. Although the sushi pieces were on the smaller side, they were fresh and delicious. The salmon, in particular, stood out with its perfect sweetness and thickness. The miso soup with seaweed complemented the sushi well. For sushi under ¥600, I believe the quality is more than satisfactory.

Bottle of beer for 2400 yen, sashimi assortment plate for 220 yen, squid sashimi for 150 yen, and various other dishes like red clam, crab miso, crab salad, and tamagoyaki at the reliable Ooedo restaurant. Starting with the sashimi assortment plate and enjoying some drinks before moving on to sushi. The sashimi assortment plate is decent for the price, providing a good selection. The squid sashimi is thick, the squid is chewy, the red clam is average, the crab miso is generous, the crab salad is plentiful, and the tamagoyaki is average. I was quite full from the beer, so I couldn't eat much sushi, but unlike the conveyor belt sushi at major chains, you can be satisfied with the sushi made by skilled chefs at this revolving sushi restaurant.

It's been a while since I had lunch in Ikebukuro. While there are many restaurants I want to try, today I was in the mood for sushi. Normally, I go to the 100 yen conveyor belt sushi places in the suburbs, but in Ikebukuro, there are a few places where the sushi is handcrafted by the chefs. So, I chose Oedo Sushi. Oedo Sushi has three locations in Ikebukuro and has been popular for a long time. I ordered a tuna trio platter, horse mackerel, sea bream, squid, turban shell, yellowtail, and tekka maki. The tuna trio included chutoro, bachi, and bincho tuna, and I particularly enjoyed the chutoro. The total cost was 1,150 yen, slightly over my 1,000 yen lunch budget, but it was delicious. Despite the turnover in a bustling place like Ikebukuro, the fact that Oedo Sushi has been thriving for years speaks volumes. Personally, I prefer the safety of conveyor belt sushi, where you can simply pick what you like and the total is calculated by the chef. Thank you for the delicious meal.
