Hamuro Kaja Gar "Utensils" are important, a reminder! Delivery is difficult as of April 25, 2022. Tabelog rating: 3.31
Hi there, today I'm working in Jingumae again~ I was recording guitar today. Recording string instruments is quite difficult. I have to sharpen my focus on pitch, chord sense, rhythm, making my ears and brain tired_:(´ཀ`) After recording, editing time awaits. That's when my important task begins. I have to connect the nice parts of the recordings and make a cool song♪ It's a behind-the-scenes job, but it's important (゚∀゚)
Before that, let's order some "delivery" for dinner! Tonight, I chose a Nepalese restaurant from "Demae-kan" that I had researched in advance♪ It's not a delivery-only store, but an actual restaurant in the city. It seems to be located in the back alleys of Hyakunincho, near Okubo and Shin-Okubo, about a 5-minute walk away. I have a feeling it might be promising~ The name of the restaurant is "Hamuro Kaja Gar"! It's not your typical Indian restaurant, which is why I chose it. Plus, a fellow reviewer had visited the place. It doesn't seem like a knock-off. Ideally, I would go there in person to taste it, but I'm too busy... According to the information, it's located next to the Nepali newspaper editing office, run by the owner there, so it might be a true Nepalese restaurant. It's exciting for me to have chosen such a niche place, but it might be an adventure for staff who haven't tried Nepalese cuisine before? Well, let's just go for it occasionally (laughs)
I'm happy that the set menu includes the standard Dal Bhat for a reasonable price of 900 yen♪ I naturally chose mutton for the curry! The Dal Bhat set is 900 yen. It seems to be 650 yen at the store, but with labor costs, it's this price... Dal refers to a bean soup, and Bhat (rice) is a composite word. Why is it "Bhat" and not "Bart"? Doesn't that bother you? I don't know Nepali at all, so I can't say for sure, but "bhaat" sounds like "Bhat" from the locals' pronunciation. ...Does that mean "Dal Bhat" is more unnatural? If you start worrying about it, there's no end, so I'll stop here (laughs) It's like "antique" being either "antique" or "antick"? It's not the same!! However, it seems to be the national food of Nepal. It's a one-plate meal with rice, curry, stir-fried dishes, pickles, and salad on a stainless steel plate! What's in this Dal Bhat? Mutton curry (HOT) Dal soup Achar salad Saag Rice All of these are included. The price for delivery is not bad. However, the presentation is too unappealing. The curry and Dal soup came in round plastic cups, while the salad, saag, and pickle were all mixed in one plastic container. And the rice was wrapped in aluminum foil in a plastic container. The lack of appeal really diminishes the appetite, and it made me realize once again the important role that stainless steel plates play. I think even using aluminum one-way containers with dividers for an additional 250 yen would create a better atmosphere, right? Looking at the photos in reviews, a take-out review by "joikko-san" showed a one-way container for the one-plate meal. This would definitely look better, so why not? The rice is long-grain, which is great♪ Japanese rice would make me lose interest, so this non-sticky rice is definitely a good match for curry! Upon closer inspection, it seems like Japanese rice is mixed in, giving it a not too dry but just right...
