Schnitzel
After the state of emergency was lifted nationwide, my friend and I went on an expedition to Ginza and the Tokyo area, which we hadn't done in about a month and a half. We thought that Ginza, without inbound tourists, and Tokyo, without travelers, wouldn't be too crowded. Our prediction was mostly correct as Ginza wasn't very crowded. However, we underestimated the availability of lunch options. While many places in Iidabashi and Kagurazaka were selling takeout bento boxes, we didn't see as many options in Ginza. Perhaps there weren't many suitable places to eat bento boxes. My friend wasn't brave enough to eat in, so we searched the depachika (department store basement) and ended up buying a Sukiyaki bento box from Asakusa Imahan at Mitsukoshi's food section for 1,080 yen. It was a bit of a cliché or safe choice. The weather was nice that day, so we went to Hibiya Park to eat. Surprisingly, the bento was still warm. It was a balanced mix of rice and side dishes, with Sukiyaki made of beef, onions, konjac noodles, shimeji mushrooms, tofu, and pickled ginger. The beef was thinly sliced but tender and delicious, with the flavors well absorbed by the other ingredients. The portion of beef was a bit small, around 60-70g, but considering the price, it was understandable. Overall, we had a pleasant lunchtime in the shade of the green hill, reminiscent of early summer.
