The assorted sashimi, eggplant miso, fried white shrimp, and assorted oden were already served. The eggplant miso was too delicious, the melt-in-your-mouth texture of the eggplant was exquisite, and the white miso was outstanding. I want to eat this again. The white shrimp was fried nicely. The oden was elegantly prepared and very easy to eat. The broth was delicious. The sea grapes were too spicy for me, but it seemed to suit the taste of others.

In a hidden alley behind Kamishichiken, a lantern with the word "oden" lights up. The owner, who trained in Okinawa in their teens and then opened a shop in Kyoto, serves oden and other dishes to accompany drinks. The taste is Kyoto-style, but also includes unique flavors from Okinawan ingredients. Enjoying the taste and atmosphere that can only be found here, listening to stories of Okinawa and Kyoto, feels like going back in time.

I heard from an acquaintance. Oden cooked in Kyoto-style dashi is excellent. Yuba and daikon are exquisite. The chef is from Okinawa, and the Okinawan dishes were delicious too. I never knew that Goya Champuru could be this tasty! The hot sake was also delicious, served in a hot water bath.

Before going to the tea shop, I had a meal at a restaurant that seems to be part of the same chain. The owner is from Okinawa and the food there includes oden and Okinawan cuisine. The owner seems to be doing a good job, especially with the pig's feet which are lightly seasoned with broth when boiled. The shrimp fry with tartar sauce is also homemade and flavorful. The broth for the oden is quite delicious.

Due to the current state of emergency for COVID-19, the restaurant is operating with shortened hours. They open for lunch and continue serving throughout the day. It's amazing! The hard-working owner allows customers to enjoy daytime drinking, which is a rare treat in this area. While other standing bars are closed, this place offers a chance to have some oden and drinks in the afternoon as you explore the Kitano Tenmangu Shrine. You can also enjoy their lunch menu. When I visited in the evening, the place was already packed with regular customers who enjoy a drink with their meal. The "Goya Momi" dish is delicious and highly recommended as a palate cleanser. The grilled Giji with salt is slightly sweet and the tender meat is irresistible. The customers here have good manners and leave promptly by 8 pm, which gives a sense of healthiness.

It's been a while since I visited Jiroukichi-san♪ On this day, I went without a reservation and the place was full of customers like that, so the owner was bustling around happily. I had some dried fish grilled and also some young bamboo shoot stew. The owner is from Okinawa and recently went back to his hometown, so I went to pick up some souvenirs he brought back. We enjoyed island pickles with some drinks and then left quickly☆ It's a casual place to drink in Kamishichiken. Oh, by the way, they also serve lunch only on the 25th of every month at Tenjin Market, so if you're interested, come check it out (#^^#) They have lunch with oden, tempura, and rice. The tofu skin with hot water is also delicious. Having a relaxing oden lunch while drinking sake in the afternoon is nice.

There wasn't enough white rice, so eel rice was made. There was no konjac noodles, so hanpen (fish cake) was made.

It was a full house. Whenever I come here, I end up drinking too much. Why is that? LOL

I visited Jirokichi after a long time. I was delighted to see bamboo shoots as the appetizer, which added a seasonal touch. The assorted sashimi included cherry snapper, amberjack, yellowfin tuna, and marinated mackerel - all fresh and delicious. The tempura featured small ayu fish, firefly squid, udo (mountain asparagus), and butterbur sprouts. Enjoying them with salt and a glass of awamori was a delightful experience. The main dish was shabu-shabu with Agu pork, which was incredibly flavorful and sweet. The richness of the pork was truly exceptional. The meal was completed with noodles in a savory broth, leaving me fully satisfied. For more detailed and delicious information about Jirokichi, visit http://kuishinbou-k.com/zirokichi/

At the end of the year, I visited Jirokichi for the first time in a while and tried their "dried mentaiko" for the first time. It's not a regular menu item, but if you love karasumi, you'll definitely love this! Plus, we also ordered some hirazake that day, which made the alcohol flow endlessly. It was the perfect way to close out the year. The dried mentaiko is thin and flat, but richer and more flavorful than regular mentaiko. The taste differs between the skin and the belly, so you can enjoy two different flavors. It's not easy to come by (I rarely see it even in Hakata), so I felt lucky that day. Since the restaurant was a bit quiet, we ordered a variety of dishes and had another year-end party. I love itokon, and since they had red itokon that day, I chose that without hesitation. We also ordered our usual favorites like yuba pizza and were completely satisfied. The juicy and crispy grilled chicken wings were also a delight. Looking forward to another great year! (o^ー゚)/

I visit this place once a week, Mr. Jirokichi. Thanks to the Food Log system that now allows me to write a review each time I visit the same restaurant, I will continue to do so. Occasionally, film directors and actors visit, and people even come all the way from Tokyo, making it a bustling place. Despite the popularity, if there are no reservations, they will call for help, so I tend to go there promptly. My recent favorite is the "Yuba Pizza." It's not your typical pizza dough, but made with yuba. It's a mini size, perfect for pairing with alcohol. The crispy crust goes well with the miso. Be sure to try the pizza baked with cheese and miso. Finish off with yuba hot pot, and you'll be in yuba heaven.

This is a pub where oden is available all year round. In early summer, they offer oden ingredients like conger eel and anago daikon to keep the menu interesting. Although it is a pub, it feels more like a small izakaya serving a variety of dishes. The Okinawan cuisine prepared by the Okinawan owner uses ingredients sourced from Okinawa, showing a commitment to quality. The salt-grilled Agu pork, in particular, was irresistible with its delicious taste and aroma. The island pickles and bitter melon were also delicious, giving off a Okinawan vibe even in Kyoto. Despite being tucked away in an alley, the friendly owner made us feel comfortable and we enjoyed our meal. The cozy interior with a hearth made me want to visit this place often. It was a delightful evening at a place where you can easily drop by. My ratings from my visit in June 2015: Overall: 3.8, Food/Taste: 4.0, Service: 3.5, Atmosphere: 3.9, Value for money: 3.7, Drinks: 3.5

I have been becoming a regular at this place, but for some reason, the prices have been getting higher recently. The atmosphere of the place is nice and the staff is friendly, but the prices are making me a bit anxious. One day, the price was just too much, so I had to lower my rating. Sorry about that.
Now, I have made my way to Kamishichiken. The area has a somewhat intimidating atmosphere, with all the restaurants looking expensive and unwelcoming. But I found a place with a sign that just said "Oden Jirokichi". I peeked inside and saw a few customers, so I gathered my courage and went in. The place had about 8 counter seats and some table seating, with a calm and clean Japanese atmosphere. They serve oden all year round, which is great for oden lovers. And surprisingly, they also have a lot of Okinawan dishes on the menu. As a fan of Okinawan cuisine, I was delighted. I originally came for the oden, but ended up trying dishes like Goya champuru and Agu pork. Everything was delicious and satisfying. The owner seems to be from Okinawa and has a friendly and cheerful demeanor. This place doesn't feel too intimidating, the prices are reasonable, and they offer a variety of dishes. It's a great find for both casual and hearty drinking sessions.

I enjoyed Itokuzu earlier, but I still wanted to drink more, so my companion invited me to another place. It seems that we can enjoy various delicious dishes and drinks, mainly Okinawan cuisine. Sitting at the counter, we toasted again. I started with a sweet potato shochu on the rocks since I already had beer. Looking at the menu, there were intriguing dishes lined up, but there were no prices listed... I was a bit nervous, but since my companion brought me to this place, I thought it should be fine without any disappointments. The fresh tuna collar was delicious. At first, you can taste the meat texture, but later you can enjoy the fat. The more you chew, the more deliciousness comes out. If there's whale bacon on the menu, I always end up ordering it (laughs). When you chew it, the fat melts in your mouth at the temperature, without any strange smell, it's delicious. The dried sardines had a slightly moist part left, which paired well with the sake. Island pickles, a classic in Okinawa. I wanted to eat more dishes like Rafte and oden, but I stopped here for today. If this place was nearby, I would definitely become a regular customer. A few days later, some of my followers visited the place a few times, but it seems that the billing was a bit unclear (laughs). Hmm, hearing that makes me hesitant to go back. It was delicious. Thank you for the meal.
