おたふくみかん
This day was a rare Ikebukuro date. It's quite unusual for us to go to Ikebukuro together. It was because I needed to change my smartphone model, so time was running out, and it was already 3 o'clock. I suggested this place as it seemed like a good option for a mid-afternoon meal with adjustable portion sizes. It was his first time at Sushiro. He only had the image of Kappa revolving sushi in his mind. When I was in my hometown, I used to go to Sushiro exclusively, but since coming to Tokyo, I hadn't been able to go. I had been insisting for 13 years that Sushiro is different. Finally, the day came when I could prove it. I couldn't make a reservation on my smartphone yet, so we visited the restaurant directly. We were told there was a 15-minute wait, but it turned out to be a 30-minute wait. During that time, I tried to keep him entertained by expanding his imagination with the menu (laughs). That day was the Tohoku Fair. We tried various dishes such as a tuna 7-piece comparison for 980 yen, uni wrap for 120 yen each, fukahire for 350 yen each, iwashi for 120 yen, namatori for 350 yen, sujiko for 350 yen, shrimp for 120 yen, octopus tempura for 120 yen, akagai for 350 yen, baigai for 350 yen, sea bream with sesame sauce for 350 yen, red squid for 350 yen, basil cheese-grilled shrimp for 120 yen, squid comparison for 120 yen, fried mozzarella cheese for 170 yen, seafood ankake chawanmushi for 200 yen, uni mixed soba for 400 yen. We came here thinking we could adjust the amount, but he seemed to have so much fun at his first Sushiro experience that he kept ordering more and more, and before we knew it, we had this much food. The orders arrive swiftly at the order lane. Perhaps because of the speed, the tuna 7-piece comparison and the fukahire we eagerly ordered arrived in a somewhat disappointing state. It would be nice if this could be improved. We also had octopus tempura and chawanmushi, and we had beer with them. Finally, we had uni mixed soba as our last dish. It was a bit of an adventure, but the mixed soba with uni was delicious. I love sushi restaurants at the counter, of course, and local sushi restaurants are great too, but I think there is something special about revolving sushi restaurants.
