During a busy lunch break, I visited this place next to my part-time job. There's nothing particularly special about it, but I ordered a lunch set for just over 1000 yen. There were several great options to choose from. Plus, it's nice that you can have unlimited miso soup with seaweed.

I usually use Uber to get around, and I heard that Gatendo Sushi is in Ikebukuro. So I decided to visit. When it comes to delicious sushi restaurants that are easy to access in Ikebukuro, I usually think of Triton. But how about this place? I visited on a weekday afternoon with high hopes. The restaurant is spacious and not crowded at all. You have to get your own water, so be aware when you call a staff member. You order through a touch panel and the food is served promptly. During lunchtime, you can get free miso soup, and the portion is generous! The taste is decently good. However, I had expected Gatendo Sushi to have larger and more delicious pieces of sushi, but this Ikebukuro branch could do a bit better! I ended up thinking that the Gatendo Sushi for takeout is tastier. The king salmon was very delicious! But the jumbo shrimp, enoki mushrooms, and regular salmon were not as tasty compared to other Gatendo Sushi locations. I left feeling like I wanted to introduce a tastier Gatendo Sushi restaurant to Ikebukuro. Despite that, I might consider revisiting in the future.

Somehow, I feel like this place has been experiencing a noticeable decline in quality. I've heard that even back when it was "Daimaru Suisan," it was the same. I've only been to the version of "Daimaru Suisan" that had already gone downhill. It's located on the B2 floor of Round One on Sunshine 60 Street in Ikebukuro East Exit, formerly known as the 60th Floor Street. I started with the "Summer 5-Piece Nigiri" and added more as I pleased. However, none of them really stood out to me. I don't think the taste is bad, but in terms of value for the price, it's getting close to being a no-go. The biggest issue seems to be the freshness. Or rather, the lack of moisture in the fish. Even just looking at the photos, you can tell that the fish lacked that juicy freshness. It's a shame, but this has become the lowest-rated "Gatten Sushi" in my book. Thank you for the meal. I went for lunch. I chose the recommended spring lunch. The fact that miso soup was included for free was a plus. It was quite delicious, but I felt that it was a bit expensive at over 1700 yen. The restaurant was also quite empty for lunchtime.

I went to the building near Sunshine where Round One is located, and I wondered why I hadn't been there before since the location is easy to find. I decided to give it a try. I've been to the Gatton in Saitama many times, so I had high expectations. I was a bit worried because it seemed like reservations weren't possible, but even on a Saturday afternoon, we were seated right away. The best thing I had was the tuna battleship sushi - the seaweed was fragrant and the tuna was refreshing. There were many options for half portions of rice, but compared to the Shinzato store, I felt like the portions were larger here. Some of the fish had a slightly thawed texture, though. I imagine it must be tough for conveyor belt sushi restaurants nowadays, so I increased my rating a bit with hopes for the future.

- Minami Maguro Ootoro 605 yen
- Fresh squid with yuzu salt 330 yen
- Squid 132 yen
- Chopped fatty mackerel 198 yen
- Assorted squid parts 550 yen
- Mountain-sized eel battleship 440 yen
- Battleship with tuna and green onion on top 264 yen
- Battleship with fresh baby sardines 264 yen
Total 2,783 yen
This conveyor belt sushi chain restaurant offers decent quality and pricing. I prefer this kind of tiered pricing over the 100 yen per plate places. Even if you eat only high-end sushi, the total cost is around 5,000 to 6,000 yen, so it's quite satisfying. I particularly enjoyed the assorted squid parts and the mountain-sized eel battleship. I will definitely visit again.

I visited a conveyor belt sushi restaurant called "Gattensushi Ikebukuro Sunshine 60 Street" around 11 am on a certain day in September 2022. The restaurant is located on the B2 floor of a building about a 5-6 minute walk from Ikebukuro Station. The spacious interior had only two other customers. I sat alone at the counter and placed my order using the touch panel in front of me.
I started with the simple squid sushi for 132 yen. The squid was larger than expected, and the size of the rice matched well, providing a satisfying bite. Next, I ordered the generous mushroom miso soup for 264 yen. The miso soup had a vague taste and lacked the umami flavor of miso. It was a bit disappointing.
I then tried the salmon and pickled radish roll for 264 yen. The rich flavor of the salmon paired nicely with the pickled radish, creating a tasty roll. The large clam sushi for 264 yen had a good texture but lacked a distinctive flavor. I wished for a more aromatic clam.
Since I was not satisfied with the miso soup, I ordered the free seaweed soup. It had a refreshing taste of greenery and paired well with the sushi. The bonito sashimi for 264 yen had a satisfying texture and a strong umami flavor, complemented by the refreshing grated ginger.
I also tried the natto roll for 132 yen, which was a traditional and satisfying choice. Despite the affordable prices starting at 132 yen, Gattensushi falls short compared to major conveyor belt sushi chains in terms of value. The spacious and calm atmosphere of the restaurant is a positive aspect. If you happen to find some great sushi options, Gattensushi might become a place you want to visit regularly.

I had some errands in Ikebukuro and was wondering where to have lunch. I decided to revisit "Gattensushi," which is open all day. I saw it on Fuji TV's "Uwasano Okyakusama" yesterday and felt like eating there. I ordered my favorite fried negi-ika mayo x2, aburi (grilled) 3 rolls, homemade tamagoyaki, negitoro roll, and of course, a highball. My husband ordered some unusual items like meat sushi. It's a bit sad that there are no sushi chefs making the sushi in front of you, but the food here is delicious and offers good value for money. If you're alone and really hungry, it might be a good idea to come here haha.

A few years ago, it seems like the sushi chef was making sushi for us, but now sushi is flowing on a conveyor belt. Next to the restaurant, there is a crowded Saizeriya. The sushi restaurant was not too busy, so we were able to enter smoothly. The sushi pieces are large and delicious! They have fatty tuna and salmon roe, which made us satisfied. Thank you for the meal! ♡

I often use the Gatenden Sushi in Kawaguchi. Compared to Kura Sushi, Sushiro, and Hama Sushi, Gatenden Sushi is a bit more expensive, but it's worth it because it's tastier! It's similar to other conveyor belt sushi chain restaurants like Choshi Maru. I decided to visit the Gatenden Sushi in Ikebukuro which recently opened. Unlike the image I had of sushi chefs preparing the sushi, here you order using a touch panel and the dishes are delivered on a conveyor belt. Is the taste here inferior to the Kawaguchi branch, or is it just my imagination? (laughs) I always order the Fried Green Onion Squid Mayo (a must-have for me), the seared trio (Tuna with Green Onion, Salmon, and Engawa), rolled omelette, and a soup. I also enjoyed a highball. My husband loves abalone and tuna, so he happily ate those, while we shared squid and shrimp. One great thing about Gatenden Sushi is the pickled ginger. It's sweeter and more sour than any other conveyor belt sushi place, and it's delicious (and it's free!). I love pickled ginger, so it's hard to keep eating at sushi restaurants that don't have it going around. Conveyor belt sushi is almost all-you-can-eat, so I snack on pickled ginger between bites. Also, when you place an order, they say "Gatenden understood!" as a catchphrase, though the Ikebukuro branch said it a bit softly (laughs). The quality of the fish is better than the major conveyor belt sushi places, so it's worth a visit. There were many young women taking lots of photos too!

When visiting, the rating on Tabelog was 3.01 so I didn't have high expectations. Due to the current situation, we ordered using a touch panel and the dishes were brought to us on a conveyor belt. We ordered recommended dishes like herring and cherry snapper. The sushi pieces were large and satisfying to eat. The quality was a step above 100 yen sushi.

"Gatten Sushi" used to be a popular type of sushi restaurant in the Tokyo area, alongside chains like "Kappa Sushi" and "Choshi Maru" during the Heisei era. However, with the rise of chains like "Kura Sushi" and "Sushiro," the pricing of "Gatten Sushi" establishments may seem a bit high compared to the quality of the sushi. Despite this, I recently visited a "Gatten Sushi" location in the Sunshine 60 Street Round One basement and tried their "Autumn Five-Piece Nigiri" set, which included delicious options like Sanma and Ikura. The Sanma was especially tasty, with a flavorful soy sauce that added to the overall experience. However, I found that the use of Katsuobushi extract in the soy sauce may not be suitable for those unfamiliar with the original flavors of the ingredients. Overall, the meal was enjoyable, with highlights like the Crab Chawanmushi and the Seared Beltfish with Grated Kelp.

After finishing work, I stopped by for some sushi. Despite being located in the entertainment district on B1F, the restaurant was surprisingly quiet inside. I looked at the menu on the touch panel and decided to order the "Dancing Abalone Gunkan." What came out was a 30-40g piece from Korea with a refreshing taste. Considering the stable production of abalone in Korea, getting a whole abalone at this price was quite a deal. Personally, I really like squid legs, so I ended up getting several refills of the large squid legs. Overall, the price per plate at this conveyor belt sushi restaurant may not be that cheap, but considering the quality, it's quite decent.

Located about a 5-minute walk from Ikebukuro Station, this restaurant is a revolving sushi chain with its headquarters in Saitama, a prefecture without a coastline. The Ikebukuro branch of this restaurant recently opened. Gatton Sushi strategically opens its stores in areas with high affinity, such as Saitama and conveniently accessible locations in Tokyo. While it may seem like a chain that emphasizes low prices, the majority of its items are priced in the 200 yen range. However, when it comes to taste, it's hard to distinguish it from other chain restaurants that compete on price. Overall, it receives an average rating.

I came all the way to Japan and of course I want to eat conveyor belt sushi. I didn't go to the cheapest place, but the sushi was delicious. We entered just 5 minutes before last order, and it was located on the basement floor.

Wednesday (Emperor's Birthday), 10°C, sunny. I arrived at the restaurant at 18:20 for lunch and dinner, and Ikebukuro East Exit was bustling due to the holiday. Every sushi item was fresh, and the grilled dishes were crispy. Young people, make sure to enjoy the cost-effective sushi.

On Friday, it was 21 degrees Celsius and sunny. I entered the restaurant at 6:00 PM and placed my order using the touch panel. I was able to choose between wasabi or no wasabi, and normal or less rice, so I was happy to try more varieties than usual. I enjoyed a delicious meal and left the restaurant feeling full. Thank you for the tasty food once again.
